I really like the last part of the video discussing the artist intents and whether to darken everything or not. I would personally only correct the levels and keep all the different brushes apparent

I tend towards the variety of value as well. More information.

When I started college, my brother took me to the LCBS and we picked up Lone Wolf and Cub and Kamui. The art just blew my mind and the stories were kickass. I know it's a lot to ask, do you guys think you try a re-creation of his work like you've done with some other artists? I would love to see how the light and dark could be done. Is it done with all brush, or some brush, some pen (was it "reed pen" that Sean was saying?) or nib or something different altogether? Anyway, loved the episode. Thanks.

I really want to do a recreation, Sean and Carson always have interesting tool ideas and it’s a fun excuse to try out some new techniques.

@@mattjbatt The three of you demonstrating together would be a great education!

Yeah, a reed pen, i.e a pen cut from a reed. Would love to do a recreation as soon as we have the time!

I made it to the 1:34 mark! I'll be expecting my No-Prize any day now! Great Episode...always nice to have Matt back on with his perspectives.
Most of the time I feel you guys are too harsh on the printing aspects on books (though I do see what you are talking about...but I find myself saying stuff like "Its by no means unreadable") but seeing the artist edition of his work as opposed to the printed versions literally turned my stomach! I volunteer my scanning services for free if Sean ever gets the chance for a proper remaster. Such a great book though I never read all of them. It was a incredible to get to experience the ending in all its original glory! Kojima is up there with with Ikegami for sure I love his work as well...that Maben episode with him in it blew my mind! Also as I was looking at those crowd scenes I got sense that James O'Barr had Kojima as an influence that I never noticed before. I am surprised Matt didn't talk a little about the Criterion Collection of Lone Wolf and Cub that has artwork from Paul Pope!
