What Can You Do To Improve Your Bass? | Hardware | Hipshot | Ultralite Tuners | Kickass Bridge

In this video I see if fitting a hipshot kickass bridge and ultralite tuners will make a difference to my bass. This is the first in a series of videos where I try to improve one of my basses. The hardware is a hipshot kickass bridge and hipshot ultralite tuners.

Hi mate, the bridge and tuners definitely have an impact on the sound of the instrument.
However, a P bass pickup with flats will not highlight that change as dramatically as a Jazz with bright roundwounds for example.
I changed my tuners on a high end Jazz type bass and it affected the tone greatly.
More overtones, harmonics and less fundamental frequency. Whether the string was strummed open or fretted... !
I went back to the heavy schaller tuners since.
So yeah as you said, the sum of all the components have an effect on your tone.
Also, you can get the stainless steel saddles for the kickass, the ones you have are brass. And just that little part of the bridge has a great impact on your tone.
