They groove on massive reverb treating vocals. I watched Boeckner greet Cheryl Waters before he played with a HI that made me laugh with the amount of effect on his voice. I love it.
Imagine performing at this interstellar level with your brother and your best friend from school! Really, how cool is that? Thanks KEXP for continuing to support SLIFT!!!
I saw them in toulouse (france) a few years ago randomly, i was walking in the street at night with 2 friends and one told me he heard about a concert in a house, it was at the last floor of the house We were like 14 people watching those 3 musicians play and it was amazing

12:20 for anyone wondering, this is a bar of 9/8 and a bar of 7/8 repeated together. i typically count 7/8 as "1 and 2 and 3 and a", 9/8 the same but "4 and a" what makes it really hard to feel comfortably, with that in mind, is that the musical phrase starts on the 2nd beat of the 9/8 bar with a low bass note. so we're feeling music in what ultimately adds up to two very normal 4/4 bars of music *in literal time*, but that time spent getting there is split up in a way that is disorienting and chaotic. it provides a great tension and excitement building up to the release, and what a release! absolutely gargantuan distorted bass chords, heavier than the earth
I saw Slift last night live in a small venue, maybe 100 people at the concert. When that bass line hit, everyone's feet became moleculary fused to the floor. It was awesome.

Because the french fans are the worst/inexisting... Concerts are just ridiculously expensive in France, and touring is even worse for underground bands here... Slift is a great band!!!

Holy shit that bass sound. These boys are amazing. Also for new fans, check out their Levitation session recorded in an electron microscope. It looks like they're powered by a Van de Graaff generator, which is extremely appropriate.

This band is the reason I can run a 10K! Was a couch potato and this summer I was struggling through the couch 2 5k program until I started listening to the whole Ummon album. Loved it so much I can run a full 10K to it now! Am still a potato, but at least I can run for an hour and 12 minutes straight 3 times a week 😂.

I took a random chance on the video being pushed to me (having never heard of them), and watched it all the way through. This is some of the best live rock I have heard in a very long time. They not just playing their instruments, they are absolutely summoning something through them. Great work.
I get constant warning of exceeding the noise exposure limit. A musical masterpiece, which is so homogeneous, brilliant, present, crisp and wide-ranging in its intensity and outstanding sound quality that words fail me - runs in a continuous loop. The symbiosis of my favourite bands Vágtázó Halottkémek and Shellac in a new next level, in a higher dimension. Maximum respect and a deep bow to the sound and video engineers.
