I followed the instructions, but after holding The shift key down while restarting, my screen went directly back to the password screen before I restarted. The grub menu did not come up. I am running grub 2.04 on an Asus laptop. By pressing the esc key, I can get to the GNU grub version 2.04 screen

Guys I did both. But I couldn't to login to my Ubuntu account.
There is another problem, my account name(on the screen) is different from the one was written in the boot progression and when I choose a new name, it give me an error that the ' name' doesn't exist.
What should I do??
