    Sir three things
    1) if the banking crisis is as bad as they are saying (with China we never know) then china will be a lesser economy which means that india may catch up faster than then anyone is saying.
    2) technologically will china be able to replace people by robots. This is crucial to it’s future performance.
    3) One thing people seem to be missing in all this politics is that through GST a necessarily painful formalisation of the Indian economy is occurring. Somehow the current government has been able to stay in power despite this. Somehow the collective will of the people decided to give a qualified approval. Qualified because the approval is given with a warning-improve or you will be out next time.

I agree with this analysis (that by 2030 we will have started to get ahead). I have always held that in another 10-15years we will be first amongst equals.
The point on decoupling and your answer was good. Coupling ensures that the core components are held by the Chinese. This is a risk that the Chinese can execute upon by either constraining delivery (eg. GE Engines) or by raising prices. I'm just wondering if one were to prioritize which ones to focus upon first (for decoupling), such a list would be good as that will help Industry to focus on what to invest on first AND for Govt to provide appropriate support to.
Sir - I think you have described the Political, Economic, Geostrategic and Military reasons (all crucial to being a leader), pretty well. Thank you, Jai Hind.

Ge. forgive for stating an obvious fact about India; you are always greatest "in the future". INDIA IS A FUTURE COUNTRY, but China is a nation NOW.

  • @jliang70
    @jliang70 26 дней назад +1

I give your points about population decline but does population decline means productivity decline? Even of today with both India and China having almost the same population Chinas' GDP is 5 times of India, China's work force is 40% larger than that of India. Their skilled and trained work force is 192+ million compare to 27 million in India. If a country's economy is depending on labor intensive industry then it is likely with a population decrease the GDP will reduce but in China what we are seeing is the labor intensive industry is moving into inner regions like Guangxi and Guizhou while in the coastal regions they are moving into valued added manufacturing eg. semiconductors, R@D in semiconductors, AI, EVs, EV battery technologies. India has a rising population but it has very much poor educated workforce and that is the problem. Talking about politics India is poorly governed and India throw up capable leaders? That is very questionable when we look at the end result even with this Modi government. The level of corruption is still massive within India, let me ask you this question who is actually responsible for the collapse of the Gange River bridge that has collapsed twice since it was built and who was responsible for the most recent collapse of the roof in the Dehli Airport? So Xi sacked minister because of their corruptions is that wrong or is that right? Talking about Chinese bank disappear I will suggest you to look at how this issue was resolved. The customers of these small banks were largely moved into bigger banks, China has four of the biggest banks in the world, in fact in term of asset China's industrial and commercial bank has almost matching two of the biggest US bank combined. You, General need to study a lot more those with 60 minutes on their hand can do their own research and easily debunk most of your analysis.

    Respected Shankar Sir.
    Pranaam
Please accept our warmest thanks and sincerest appreciation for this excellent podcast. It was one of the best by you in solo category. It seems sir the food of USA is acting as catalyst !
With due respect some comments and observations are given below:
It was the drubbing and through beating to Chinese by Vietnam that brought them to senses. Can you please accept our request and do a program on Vietnam war in near future and the the thrashing given to Chinese by Vietnamese.
After Vietnam war it was Deng who changed course - avoid conflicts, peace, liberalise, investment, jobs growth, economic progress exports - of course aided and abetted by USA. But Xi Jing Ping has completely reversed the course and has started to pay the price - the decline is unlikely to be reversed. Agree.
Bedsides N Korea and Pakistan can we put Iran also as supporter or ally of China ?
There is one more aspect which is civilisational, cultural, living habits, human societal and family values. In communist countries, human being society is suppressed, with fear, traumatised and peace, innovation and progress cannot take fast. Chinese have started allowing people to worship in Buddhist temples. In addition the impact of degradation of environment, food security water crisis etc - already discussed by you in earlier podcast will hamper their progress
You had done a program with students of Chennai and Delhi - the quality of their presentation and analysis was very good. yours program of this ought to be juxtaposed with a repeat program with students.
Many of us are still not clear whether Wuhan virus originated from China or not ? Are they culprit ? So many people died but no hue and cry ? It is puzzling. I seek and answer on your platform
Notwithstanding the slow pace of new viewership acquisition, please carry on sir. We are with you
    With kind regards

It is true that Chinese economy is not doing that well. However their Infeastructure, roads, highways, tech infra, educational policies, corruption index etc are much better than India, atleast 20 years ahead. Their army is planning to replace humans by AI robots as front line defence. They have a larger land area, which means more resources. We as Indians are still way behind on terms of poverty, basic education, low GDP per capita, lack of jobs, pollution, poverty, corruption, excess population who cannot be employed! We also have religious issues especially due to a large muslim population which is a growth deterrent. Our road infrastructure is pathetic, worst in cleanliness. So we cannot compare ourselves with China by any means bu 2030. However there is a sliver of hope that India might survive a fiture war with China / Pakistan and might just get better overall and reach close to china in another 20 years.. which is 2045 maybe.
