Do you have any recommendations on good lenses for my Sony Mark 3 to use for real estate house videography? I need to get a lense because I got hired to do this! Hey! The 16-35 2.8 G Master is my favorite for sure. I started out with this one and it was nice too, for half the price - amzn.to/38NCIuB - not as great because of the f4 aperture and colors aren't quite as good. I haven't tried their 14mm lens yet, but It seems like it'd be a pretty great lens setup for gimbal work + would allow more low light flexibility with the wider aperture. amzn.to/3G9hsM6 (with this one you could just use the super35mm crop on some shots to get a medium focal length to change it up too) There's always the option of renting too! Check out lensrentals.com if it is available in your area - lenses are pretty cheap if you want to try some out before buying!

Hope it helps!! Those are great cameras! I used to have the R2 + A7iii. Just tested out the FX3 this past week and its awesome to see how much better the new color science + 10 bit is. You'll like it a lot compared to the A7iii.
Thanks! Mostly 4800k for mixed lighting, 3200k for tungsten only, and 5600k for bright rooms w/ more daylight. I set it custom though, since it varies depending on lighting conditions and time of day, etc but those are usually safe starting points.
Hey! Depends on the type of shot and how much i want to keep in focus. I like to stick with the base ISO as much as possible (different for every camera) , and almost always stick to 180 degree shutter rule. Usually I just adjust Aperture or ISO (if needed). Or sometimes change frame rates to a slower one to get more light in (and move slower). Typically 30fps works best for me unless I want something super slow motion then I’ll use 60fps. A lot depends on what camera you’re using and how it performs with different settings, for example Sony a7siii can do 640 and 12800 iso super clean so you can use almost any frame rate/aperture you want.
Hey! If you’re using the same footage for everything (horizontally filmed) I would do my main edit first, export for fb/RUclips at 4K 16:9 ratio. Then copy that sequence/project and paste it onto a vertical 5x4 or 9:16 timeline depending on if it’s for an Instagram post or reels, and shift the framing on each shot to where it’s best in that crop. Tip for shooting would be to start all of your shots further back and shift your cuts back a few seconds to get the most in frame or shoot a bit wider and in 4K if possible so you have the most room to work with for the more narrow crops 👍 ideally you could also shoot differently per platform so you’ll have a more fitting piece of content for everything (shoot horizontal for fb, RUclips and vertical for IG/reels/fb stories/tiktok) but that will take more time to shoot and edit so your call 👍👍
Hey!! My main lens is the Canon 16-35 2.8 , mostly at 16 for wide shots. 50mm for details. Links in video description for everything if you want to check anything out! :)
Great video! What time do you typically try and do these shoots at? I saw you mentioned midday, I know others recommend golden hour or sunset to get more dramatic shots, but from mid day to sunset would be a lot of time. What is your experiences with realtors and how much time they expect you to be there? I just finished college and I'll be starting my first job soon and was wondering if 4 hours is too long to be on the site? maybe from 5-9pm to catch the sunset? I just don't know if at 5pm would make the suns angle a problem for getting these shots. Do you account for the angle of the sun, if so what do you look for? Sorry if it seems like a loaded question, I'm just new and I don't want my timing of the shoot to mess the whole thing up because I can't control the weather. Last thing, have you done photography with these shoots? If so, how much more time to do ask to be on the site to take photos and video? and do you typically try to do photos first or last? I'd really appreciate the insight! Thanks for the great information!
Great questions! Depends on how fast you are and how ready the house is when you get there. I can typically do photos + video + drone + sunset in about 3-4 hours depending on how big the house is. I charge extra for sunset because of the extra time. But if you don’t need sunset shots, mid Day is great because it’s easier to work with more light and just choose whether or not to do exteriors first or after you do everything else depending on which side of the house the light is on.

Hi Taylor, this has been so helpful, loads of information packed in without it being overwhelming! I'm originally an Event & Music Photographer but looking to get into Retail Estate photography/videography and this is unbelievably helpful. Just one question! Are you shooting at 1080 or 4k? I'm asking as I get a lot of jitter when I slowdown my footage in post! Thanks!
So glad it's helpful for you! All the examples in this video are in 1080p from the EOS R - mostly shot at 30fps or 60fps. Now I shoot in 4k as much as possible for client work though! Lots more room in the edit & more detail is nice :) Are you using the right shutter speeds? Wondering if you might be dropping frames or something like that. Should be double the frame rate (30fps = 1/60, 60fps = 1/120 etc.) and when you slow that down onto a 24fps timeline it plays back smoothly. Let me know if that helps or if you want to share an example ! -TB
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Yeah, i'm based in England so my Sony A7iii is set at 25p shooting at 1/50 for 4k and then 100p shooting at 1/200 for 1080p. Slowing down in a 24fps timeline is what I was doing, hence the confusion haha. I've seen it could be my gimbal that isn't completely balanced, is this possible to cause jitter? So many variables! This is all still very new so apologies haha! I can message you on instagram if it's easier for you. Thanks.
Hello and good evening Taylor. Yes I'm just starting my drone company and I really appreciate your video and knowledge. I really enjoy real estate photography/ video ography. The gear I'm starting off with is a DJI Inspire 2, Ronin S gimbal and a olympus OMD OM1 Mark III. It's great because I can switch my lenses out on the I2. My lenses I have are the 15mm, 9mm, and a 40-150. Yes I understand I'm going to have to invest in more lenses. So any advice or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks Taylor.
Great setup! Starting with an inspire 2 is pretty intense! How do you like it? The only lens I’d recommend would be a 50mm equivalent prime. So if your camera is apsc somewhere close to 35mm. That way you’ll have a great option for detail shots and isolating important features with a blurry background. Not totally necessary but adds an artistic feel to the videos.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Hello and I appreciate your response I love the Inspire 2 it's a beast, but I'm also looking to get the Mavic 3 Pro in the first of next year. Yes, I do currently have a 45mm, but I'll look into getting that 50 mm as well... yes I took it out today by the lake about 6:30 this morning and I used a few of lenses and got some great shots. I really appreciate your feedback and I'm going to continue watching and supporting your channel Hopefully I'll have mines up and running next year.
Hey! I'm not super familiar with Nikon gear but those look like they'd be pretty good from what I see on B&H reviews. Only concerns I'd think about are: how does your camera do with low light ? Does it get noisy quick with high ISO's? If it struggles it will be hard to get clean video footage at f4.5 on interiors when they don't have optimal lighting. I wonder if something like the Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f2.8 Zero-D Lens for Nikon would be worth trying out though, even with it being manual focus only for your wide shots. Definitely wouldn't go with MF only if you're doing other stuff than real estate though - too hard for tracking people and most things solo, but IMO kind of fun for real estate shoots ! I used one on my more recent BMPCC6K Pro Video and liked it a lot. Also sigma is a great lens option for any camera body - they have a 10-20mm also that looks nice! I'd go with whatever you'd feel most comfortable with and fits your budget for now! Can always invest in upgrades later. Sometimes it makes more sense to invest upfront or invest more later depending on what you need! ALSO make sure to check out lensrentals.com - lenses are really cheap to try out for a day or so before buying (and you can buy used gear from them sometimes if you want to keep it). That's how I try out any new gear.
Thank you for this. I'm ready to shoot but my biggest confusion is how to approach potential clients. There are plenty of real estate websites that represent some nice homes in my general area that lack videos that I would like to approach and ask if they are interested in my service, but I'm not exactly sure how it works. Sometimes the website offers an agent to speak with me as they believe I am a potential buyer and I've been tempted to message them back right on the website and ask if they're interested but that doesn't seem right. Should I find the email for the entire website and speak to the company or just speak with an individual agent directly?

Thanks! Mostly 4800k for mixed lighting, 3200k for tungsten only, and 5600k for bright rooms w/ more daylight. I set it custom though, since it varies depending on lighting conditions and time of day, etc but those are usually safe starting points.
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo thank you so much! 🙏
I was really enjoying the video till you said primary bedroom. I just don't understand why people go along with this. It's a master bedroom
Does real estate companies have to tag you as the videographer in their social media when they post the videos online?
No not really. Some do, some don’t.
I love this video, what kind of drone do you have?
Thanks! Mavic 2 Pro (non-zoom)
Hi! Taylor, how much do you charge for your videos?
Hey! It varies a lot depending on the scope of the production and usage. Let me know if you have any specifics you’re looking for help with :)
Love your content, keep up the great work! The shot list tho 👌🏼🔥🔥
Thanks!!! Hope it helps :) Always love a good list!
Nice video. What aperture for the wide shots?
Thanks! Mostly 2.8 - 4 depending on lighting or if I need more details.
Your work is a work of art. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks!!
Thank you for sharing the juice.
No prob! Thanks for checking it out Dan 😄
Hey, great helpful video. Which settings do you adjust for exposure? Aperture, shutter speed? hear a lot of conflicting info lol. Thanks!
@Taylor Brown thanks man🙏👌
With FB/Insta/RUclips having different formats, how do you approach cropping to fit all the different social sites? Thanks in advance.
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Thanks a ton for the detail!
This is just great information, thanks for sharing!
Hope it helps ✌️
Another fantastic video. I found your channel a few days ago and loving your content.
Thanks!! What all are you trying to learn ?
What is your preferred lens for photography inside the property?
Hey!! My main lens is the Canon 16-35 2.8 , mostly at 16 for wide shots. 50mm for details. Links in video description for everything if you want to check anything out! :)
Thanks a ton bro!!! Just getting started doing real estate videos with my drone. 🙏🏾 Great tips! Subbed.
Did you ever end up upgrading to the cinema camera?
For recent client projects I’ve been renting the fx3 for real estate. So good!
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Awesome thanks!
sweet =)
If you have any video specially about Sony ZV-E10 or any camera sitting of indoor, outdoor real estate videography please share the link ?
Hey! I don’t at the moment, but you might like my recent video showing Sony a7siii vs iPhone 13 - lots of RE Video tips and settings tips that would still help :)
Also, this video has a lot of tips for starting out - and a Free Settings + Shot List Cheat Sheet (link below the video) ruclips.net/video/n0CRB3eulP0/видео.html
are u shooting 1080 60fps ???
Yeah I think most of the examples except drone shots in this video were in 1080p.
niceeee
that shot list and cheat sheet....king shit!!
Hope it helps! 🤙
Instant subscriber thanks. Great stuff!
Thanks for the support!! :)
Love your work! Just curious how much time do you usually spend in one place? Say maybe a 4000 sf house? How about a 1000 sf condo with amenities?
Thanks.
@@achanvisual Nice! I'd probably have to see what it looks like to know what might be causing it.
Hello do you use Wide or superview?
Hey! For videos I typically use 16mm for my widest shots as well as 24, 35 and 50. For iPhone stuff I use the superwide angle mostly.
I really appreciate your feedback and I'm going to continue watching and supporting your channel
Hopefully I'll have mines up and running next year.
Awesome! Let me know how it goes. Would love to see how your videos are looking with that setup.@@Mr1970827
thanks for the vid, I want to start in real estate, hopefull my ef 24-70 will do just fine for first one or two jobs :)
This is great and useful for realtor
Thanks Faith! Hope so
Thank you for everything, for Nikon users do you recommend the AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR and then the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G??
I want the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR but its very expensive right now
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo it does OK but I wound up adding some light into the room and it looks great thanks man. It’s actually a really good lens
Excellect. Thank you.

tf, how do you not get more veiws
RUclips is a mystery 🤷♂️
Thanks for the great video and cheat sheet !
No prob! Thanks for checking it out :)
You should start franchises
Thanks! :)
9:55 I just invested in a Onewheel+ XR for these shots and because my eyes need a break from screens. Get outside guys it's good for your sanity haha
Yesss! Love mine :) Editing is over rated haha
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo dude I've had mine for a week and am almost to 50 miles on it. What mods do you have on yours? Now that I dropped the fortune on it, I feel like I'm spending another fortune to protect the board!

The long shots are filmed on a wagon ahah
Lol that would be a sight to see 🤣
Epic video! Thanks for all the tips!
Possibly going to shoot a house on Wednesday, only thing is its a newly built house thats empty, any tips on that?
Just do the same angles you would normally ! Those are usually faster since you don’t have to compose around furniture or anything 👍👍
