What even funnier in the scene where Jaylah kicks Scotty off the console is she essentially just plugged in the aux cord while Scotty was trying to figure out how to set up bluetooth
Best part of any Star Trek movie ever 😊 The fact that The Beastie Boys mention Spock, Kirk, and Star Trek in a bunch of their songs makes it even better!
One of the best things this movie did was put McCoy and Spock together for the whole movie. They have such a great dynamic and the previous two Abrams films didn’t spend much time developing their relationship.
I love the look JTK gives the camera when the music starts, and the “excellent choice” …. Doubly so because it’s the same song that plays when Young JTK wrecks the vette at the begging of this series.
You had to see it in the cinema without knowing anything how epic goofy startrek can turn. I had goosebumps. Unexpected, but with the spirit of TOS i say.
Say what you will about J.J's take on Star Trek; the man knows how to make a spectacle. Kirk on the motorbike, the warp battle from Into Darkness, this scene? It's all glorious.
@@juanrisa945OP does mention warp battle in Into Darkness which JJ did direct. However I have mixed views on JJ and action/spectacle scenes. I really like the shootout on the Romulan ship in the 2009 one. But after that my favorite action moments are from Beyond.
Loved the fact that they payed tribute to the first movie with this song, after I had watched the third movie three times and then rewatched the first one I thought “no way” so I went back to confirm and sure enough it was the very same song!
The thought that Beasty Boys music will last 100s of years and be considered "classical music" in the future fills my heart with joy no end😂. Now to get "She's Crafty" reframed as a Martha Stewart tribute song🤘🤘🤘!
Came here because of Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Totally forgot Zoe Saldana was in this film. Now she’s in two space based films with bad ass beastie boys climax fight scenes both for the third finale film as well. Can’t go wrong with some classic Beastie Boys to amp up a badass scene!
Kirk used this song as an escape from his unstable childhood. Now he uses it as a way to save lives from a deadly fleet of drones. Different forms of sabotage.
Everything good came together in this scene creating an intoxicating atmosphere: Visuals, cinematography, writing, acting, sound editing, and some dope ass music! 👌🏼
Food for thought: in the future, the Beastie Boys & rock music will be classical music. AWESOME. I hope Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the future comes true. As a sociologist, I always have. Even though I won’t live to see it.
Anyone else get the feeling that the 'Classical Music' part is a bit of a dig at The Next Generation, because that's ALL the crew of Enterprise-D ever played.
More to the point that it juxtaposes the actually passage of time. The year this takes place in is as much offset from the Beastie Boys as we are from Mozart.
I didn't wanna see this in theaters because I didn't much care for the new Star Trek movies, but I got dragged to it. This part had me on the floor laughing with Sabotage being played to Sabotage and the classical music line. Still one of the best uses of licensed music in Sci-Fi.
I just recently watched 'Star Trek Beyond' having been upset by the storytelling of the first two movies. Man I'm glad I did watch it because not only did it feel closer to a Star Trek movie than the previous two it gave us this great scene with a song that is actually incorporated into the action. Also the story was better told with a damn good payoff.

One of the best things this movie did was put McCoy and Spock together for the whole movie. They have such a great dynamic and the previous two Abrams films didn’t spend much time developing their relationship.
Case and point: McCoy had the best 2 lines in the movie, both addressed to Spok.

YES!!! I knew someone else would remember that. I bet Kirk was thinking, “Oh god, I haven’t heard this song since I wrecked that ‘vette as a kid.”
When I saw this in the theater and they explained the plan and the fact they had 20/21th century musical DB I knew the song was coming
I protest. This is over the top. I also protest that I loved every second of it.
Yet again, the Beastie Boys saved the day.
