    ► freethoughtblog...
    RUclips comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we've tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of RUclips comment sections, in our experience.
    We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are "officially" associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don't actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

    WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
    The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
    The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
    We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

    I want to share my beliefs. I believe that if only 20% of people on Earth would listen to this show carefully and actually think about the things, in like 10 years we would all be driving polution free cars and live in a society where we would mind our own business without worrying that my neighbour might be a secret member of some stupid cult and he doesn't like the fact that our kids are learning stuff about the universe we live in instead some ferry storries about gods. We would forget about water shortage or famins because we would destribute our resources rationally and not politically. Education would take the lead in governments spendings instead of militarization.

    Shakespeare is difficult not because it's written in English too far removed from modern English. In fact scholars regard that the modern english period started from about the time of Shakespeare. It is difficult because it is written in very complex figurative verse packed with allusions and metaphors. Chaucer would be a better example to illustrate how language has changed - since Medieval English is barely intelligible to speakers of modern english.

    I don't really agree with the whole "everyone is racist" idea. I think it fundamentally misunderstands racism and equivocates it with racial prejudice.
    Racism is the BELIEF that one's race is superior. It's hard to have a belief like that and not know it.
    Racial prejudice is treating people differently because of their race. I'd argue it has to be intentional to be prejudice but if you must argue that unconscious acts like avoiding eye contact or feeling uncomfortable without acting any different are included under this then you must say that not all racial prejudice is immoral. Unconscious acts can't be immoral.
    Should we work to be better and treat people more equally? Hell yeah we should. But should we assign an awful label associated with the worst kinds of people to those with good intentions trying their best? Not if your intention is progress. Seems like just an excuse to shame white people. Shame my grandparents, shame my ancestors. Don't shame me for their crimes and beliefs.

    • @DarthZ01
      @DarthZ01 5 лет назад +1

      You're conflating a scientific and colloquial definition of both time and change.
      Scientifically yes, the variable know as time is a measure of change in a system.
      But saying something like society will change isn't so much saying 'there's going to be measurable differences' but rather 'the current status quo/culture will be vastly different'.
      There will always be differences, yes, so technically there will always be change. But if a society remains exactly the same for 1,000 years just has new people as the generations die and are replaced, then no one will look at that society colloquially and say it has changed. Despite that fact that there's a measurable change, in that the same exact people are no longer alive, society hasn't 'changed' because it still acts the same and has the same culture.

      Social justice warriors like Matt are immune to facts on this subject. In his world, everyone is the same. We all have the same ambition and intelligence. We are all equal and our circumstances are caused by how we are treated by others. If blacks are not doing as well as other races, it must be that the other races are racist and treat blacks differently. This is the disconnect. Matt has figured out using reason and logic that the claim that god exists is an unsupported claim. The fact that people are different across racial lines just doesn't penetrate his thick skull.

  • @CosmicEpiphany
    @CosmicEpiphany 5 лет назад

    To me, Matt seems to be redefining racism. If racism is just bias then there is no need for the term racism and they are indistinguishable from each other. Racism implies you are "looking down" at another tace and/or viewing them as inferior to your race.

    So I'm racist, because in your eyes everyone is racist??? How can you be so logical in so many areas, and then say something as ridiculous as this? Oh- it must be your own bias. I would actually be interested in the explanations people have come up with in regards to the failure of black men in US society, but you won't even mention them, let alone discuss them, apparently because you have decided the only reason is racism. Somehow, their failure is my fault.

    • @kekui1647
      @kekui1647 5 лет назад +2

      I'm not positive but I think they pulled an SJW/Religious tactic and redefined the term racism to fit the agenda they are pushing. It seems the "atheism movement" has split into two separate groups of people one that went the way of "PC culture" and the other that went "anti pc culture". They of course have went the way of PC culture and let their own bias rule their logic/reasoning in specific areas, ironically very similar to what religious people do when it comes to anything "god" related.
