Zara was priceless and beautiful and dam funny! In 1940, after an appearance in New York City, she became known as "one of the world's greatest elocutionists". After moving to Jacksonville, Florida, she began producing, writing, directing, and acting in numerous plays.
Bigot Norman Lear did not even bother with a retrospective episode to acknowledge her contribution to the show or even her passing. They made a simple acknowledgment of in a future episode years after her death....Tacky, tacky, tacky...
@@dailydoseofjeff Zara Cully's last appearance on the show was S4/E9 (She passed weeks after the episode was filmed). Her death was mentioned in passing in S5/E2. As a cast member, i thought they should have at least given her a 1/2 episode retrospective....The S5/E1 opens with the cast all entering the Jefferson's apt after attending her funeral and all sat around sharing memories of her.
@dailydoseofjeff MAYBE HE WAS TRYING TO CREATE A FEMALE "FRED SANFORD" BUT THAT JUST DIDN'T COME OUT IN A FUNNY AND ENTERTAINING WAY THAT THE CHARACTER OF--- FRED SANFORD--- DID!!!!!!
@dailydoseofjeff BOTH CHARACTERS WERE BAD TEMPERED BUT THE CHARACTER OF FRED SANFORD WAS PRESENTED IN A FUNNY WAY BUT THE CHARACTER OF MOTHER JEFFERSON WAS PRESENTED IN A VERY NEGATIVE AND UNFUNNY WAY.......

I’m working on a James Avery one right now
Wow she born in the 1800s that's why it was so hard for her as a black actress in the early 1800s
Yes and she played her role fantastically!

On the Jefferson’s they made a simple acknowledgement? Can you explain?

@hardren101 thanks for sharing. Good stuff.
I DIDN'T LIKE THE CHARACTER THAT SHE PORTRAYED ON THE JEFFERSONS!!! THE CHARACTER WAS A VERY BAD TEMPERED AND NEGATIVE PERSON!!!!
I think that was Norman Lear’s intent. But why is the better question it was entertaining to see her and Louise go at each other you must admit.

Do you really see similarities between her and Fred?
