So will the cradle work in conjunction with the NEX series of head units? Charging and data transfer?
The Pioneer SDA-SC510 is designed to charge your compatible phone. The cradle is powered with it's USB connection. There is no data transfer directly through, or as a result of using the charging cradle.
Data transfer to Wireless Apple CarPlay or Wireless Android Auto compatible NEX in-dash receivers will operate normally, with or without the SDA-SC510 charging cradle. The benefit of using the charging cradle is, you can charge your phone and have a wireless Apple CarPlay or Wireless Android Auto connection to the compatible NEX in-dash receiver without plugging in your phone. Just drop it in the charging cradle.
However, a wired Apple CarPlay or wired Android Auto NEX receiver will still require a direct USB connection from the phone to the back of the NEX in-dash receiver. This USB connection will also charge the phone.
