I cant imagine how long the photoshop of these figures take, but damn I love them. Your version always makes so much more sense. Makes me wish that is how the figure was released. Keep up the good work
I agree with this! His objectivity is his main attraction but these photoshops and breakdowns of what's possible with articulation put the emphasis on Anthony's CUSTOMS and make his perspective unique. I dig them.
The Photoshops are good enough that people tried to steal them and make them pass as their own works, that speaks a lot of how important they have become to point out flaws in marvel legends
It's amazing the silver paint is clean on yours. I have seen so many in-person, including mine missing small amounts of silver paint in multiple places. The worst I have seen is two figures missing silver paint completely on one shoulder and on the knee.
I actually like the smaller shoulder armor, I think its actually an improvement from the artwork on the card and makes the suit overall look more practical because of how nimble Spider-Man is, rather than a big bulky War Machine type suit. I'm also glad they put the texture on the black body suit. Sure, the original comics and cartoon may not have had the texturing, but it adds more depth to the figure. He is short, and it would have been nice to but this design on a standard Spider-Man body, but in the end I still think its a fun figure. Was it 100% retro? Nope, but I still dig it.
I really like this figure. It's the best looking one from the wave, in my opinion. Objectively speaking... I hate that Hasbro is selling us this as part of the retro cartoon-inspired wave when it's clearly based off the PS4 game. I hate that the articulation is just ok, at this point it should be better than older Legends and it isn't. I also hate that wall crawling hands for Spider-Man aren't included with EVERY Spidey figure. Boy, even their new Iron Spider figure won't have wall crawling hands... Man, it's 2022 and Hasbro refuses to do things right. Give me wall crawling hands instead of those stupid webs... Question of the day: I like the Spider-Man Unlimited suit. That thing was cool looking.
Hell nah. This figure looks terrible. 🚮🚮🚮 The best figures in THIS wave were black suit Spider-Man, Hammerhead and Shocker. Ben Reilly Spider-Man was JUST okay, but not really worth purchasing. The Hobgoblin and this armor suited Spider-Man were 🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮
I love the Future Foundation suit, it just looks so sleek and sci-fi. It worked perfectly for Hickman's FF run, and I love seeing it whenever it appears in anything.
Spider-Man Noire would be my favorite since the classic design can't be involved. But if the classic suit was allowed I would choose Man-Spider from the 90s cartoon. Always liked how monstrous he looked and his powers going off the rails turning him into an actual man sized spider.
My favorite alt costume for Spidey, if it counts, its Ben Reilly's Sensational Spider-man suit. It's the godfather of all Spider-man redesigns. The visible web-shooters, the giant Spider logo, no belt, the big eyes and no stripe in the arm. Killer look.
The Photoshop in this guy was very useful to get your point! It looks a lot better then. The articulation comparison with Clayface killed me hahaha I loved watching this, very educational
My other favorite suit is the Scarlett Spider outfit. I just enjoy the simplicity and the blue hoodie. The photoshops are great, hope you can keep making them bc they always help!
For start I want to make it clear, I'm not defending Hasbro, just sharing my opinion. The biggest problem is the package which indicates this is a comic book/cartoon Spider-Man BUT this is clearly a ps4 version and in comparison to the game it looks almost the same. So with that in mind it has the right look. As for other two problems which are articulation and accessories; if Hasbro has problem with making dumbbell joint, they should make a simple neck hinge (the rest of the articulation is good enough. Sure, the hips could be better but in comparison with some other agile characters, this one is pretty good) and those webs are very "meh", we should get at least a pair of wall crawling hands instead. Overall I'll give this figure 8/10
I picked this up cause I thought it looked cool (it's also totally based on the game version). I wonder if they made the shoulders that small so they didn't have to deal with the shoulder pad as a separate piece.
I like the look, apart from the small shoulders. My problem with it is it's too small compared to the other Spidey figs. I'd be happy if they added texturing to comic book figures. The only reason characters didn't have fancier designs in the comics is, it would've taken the artists forever to draw and ink them.
I’ve been waiting for them to make this figure for so long because I’ve always loved this costume, probably because I had the 10 inch version of the original release as a kid. I have such a soft spot for it. But when they released the first images I was so disappointed, because they didn’t use the original design, which was based off the comic. If they would have put this in the gamerverse line, then that’s whatever, but putting it in the retro just stings. On top of that, the proportions don’t even match the game model. Overall It’s a costume that was a guaranteed buy from me, but now, maybe only if it was on sale or something.
Yup I skip this one something was off and I also skip black suit Spidey the white paint was horrible on all of them and like you said for the price point does not cut it
This is actually my favorite variant suit. I have the original comic book. Its one of the first comics I remember owning. It even had a spinoff story in the back with Marvel's knockoff Spawn
For me, my favorite alternate suit is the OG 2099 suit. The suit kept spidey's traditional red and blue coloring, but made it its own. The luchadore inspired aesthetic and the giant spider emblem having a skull face was just genius. Web cape was also a great homage to the underarm webs. Its just an awesome suit to look at and when you see it, you instantly know it belongs to Spider-Man
If you're completely unfamiliar with the source material because you took two decades off collecting action figures and don't really read comics (me!), it looks pretty sweet. I definitely see the frustration though, this would look so much better if the chest and shoulders and arms (and legs, particularly calves) were beefier. This version of Spider-Man wears like a 50L suit size in the source material and this figure looks like a 38M.
I only got this figure for the nostalgia of playing the PS1 games, where is was more or less a texture over the original model. So for me, I like that he is impossibly slim as that's how he appears in my mind. I wouldn't have bothered if it was as bulky as you'd prefer.
If I remember correctly, I do remember hearing or reading somewhere that it is supposed to be based more primarily on the PS4 game, and they did just release it as a retro-carded release.
I'm gonna say I like the Spiderman Last Stand Red Jacket with the Spider, the Black Jeans with the Mask, is something I imagine a Old Peter Parker would use because is more practical and easy to change. And the Figure looks like a cosplay made by recycled materials.
It's based off the 🎮. I love this figure and the assories are brand new to my knowledge. You are right it looks nothing like the box art but I think it looks better imo.
This armor suit is based on the games and not in the comic or animated series, that's why I didn't bought it. As for the spidey suit... aside from those you mentioned, my favorite is the Sensational Spiderman... the one that Ben Reilly used when he took over as spidey. Always love your figure reviews Anthony, keep them coming... 🍺

And all with new parts sculpted out just for it meaning that there was absolutely no excuse either. Here's to hoping that MAFEX or Sentinel or some other company gives us a proper figure for the suit someday.
I agree 100% with you on the proportions of this figure. From the moment I first saw it revealed I immediately was thrown off by the proportions. It doesn’t look at all like the design it’s meant to represent. Hasbro does this sometimes where they want to blend different influences into a hybrid design. Hasbro, please stop mixing influences from different artists and give us one artist’s design at a time. Great review as always.
I always had a soft spot for Scarlet Spider, the DIY nature of the suit has charm. I would have bought that photoshopped figure, this ain't it chief. Now that you mention the PS4 game, methinks Hasbro wanted to be sneaky and reuse the same buck twice for the video game and the cartoon/comic look, despite being totally different aside from finish. I did think that this was meant to be the game version of the suit, but I like the game version. I am an articulation snob, but I actually am content with this Spider-Man; however, I have low, to no expectations on Marvel Legends, as they are low-end collectibles, and I do not collect very many of them. This suit is one of my favorites, as it was one of the ones I used in the ps1 game, so there was bias in my purchase. Another thing is, there really aren't fully articulated versions, so while not exactly accurate to the comic versions-- it shouldn't be in the retro card if is not going to look accurate to the reto-style-- it is what is available and isn't bad for the price, though that is just my opinion. Again, I buy Marvel Legends, I go in with very low expectation in the first place; however, your reviews are meant to be objectively critical, so the points you make over the figure are valid.
The figure is apparently based on the Mark 1 suit that appears in the Insomniac Spiderman game, so the shitty proportions (in terms of bulkiness) and the amour not looking bulky it's because of that. Not defending Hasbro just pointing out that it's technically not inaccurate
My top 10 spidey suits are Six arm Spiderman Scarlet spider Spider armor mark one Future foundation Man spider Spider hulk Iron spider Cosmic Spider-Man Cyborg Spiderman First appearance Spider-Man

Other costumes I like are cosmic Spiderman we got a while back and the identity crisis suits particularly ricochet and prodigy
Idk if it's me, but the figure eerily looks like the mcu spiderman mold
Spider armor mk 1 and Kaine Parker scarlet spider. Also this is definitely based off the ps4 video game.
