Wow! This figure set really redeems a lackluster vehicle mode. The improvements to the bot mode are nice, but they are so badly needed for the vehicle mode. I’m glad that Toyhax came to the rescue! The doc badly needed rescuing…
I just put these on a couple of nights ago. I basically did the vehicle mode decals and a three of the red/blue decals for bot mode. I cut the the yellow portion off the knee decals because I prefer the red, white and blue accent colors. He looks 100 times better now.
I wonder if it was intentional since they weren't allowed to use the red cross they just met us half way and gave us a blank slate to do with as we please.
You surprisingly missed that Ratchet's red hands are painted. Anywho, vehicle mode after...just looks *INCREDIBLE*. I'm shocked that they haven't done a Marvel comic head with the red helmet and white crest. Pretty sure somebody will in due time, though - I KNOW there's gotta be enough Marvel G1 comics fans out there who'd want that. (Or not - nobody's EVER done a replacement head for MP30 Ratchet...)
I guess I subconsciously left out mentioning the hands since they didn't benefit from any decals. I went over them in my regular Review. You are the first person EVER to mention Ratchet's red helmet in Marvel. Marvel was my G1 growing up, I didn't get the show where I lived out in the Boonies.
Robot mode looks great, but that vehicle mode…WOW! I primarily get sets for bot mode, but I’ll be picking this set up for how much better it makes the ambulance look. 🚑 🎉
I used a generic version of a Mr Clean magic eraser that I heard about for removing paint, and 99% alcohol. The shoulder emblems Came off pretty clean. Just a bit in the panel lines that got covered anyway. I mostly got the set for the shoulders, but I ended up putting the ambulance logos on, and most of the rear ones, and stripes/roof cross. Mostly animation accurate in bot mode, and a bit extra on alt mode.
It certainly took me a long time, and a few q-tips, but I did eventually remove the shoulder decals. Just takes a hell of a lot of elbow grease and patience
Just FYI, the one license plate isn't supposed to read "ME SICK", but rather "MESSICK", as in Don Messick, who was the G1 Ratchet voice actor. 🙂 Been working on applying my set of stickers to the vehicle mode, and it really does wonders for it!
He looks really good. I actually don't mind that shoulder he's been sporting for a while, it's not a bad look. This set looks fantastic. Great review as always!
I would probably only use the Red crosses and windows for robot mode to keep him looking animated but the vehicle mode... WOW! What an amazing diffrence! I love the Portland sticker reference to the original comics the most both because I love the G1 comics reference and I spent several really awesome years living in Portland in my 20's. Great review Patriot!
Ratchet set should be here today. He looks great but I honestly think I’m just gonna use the stickers for the windows and vehicle mode. I’d rather he look more animation accurate than toy accurate. Nice for an option tho.

Did you use 91% alcohol? I just wonder if a lesser concentration might have been the problem. Because while it requied a bit of elbow grease, I was able to get the symbols off the shoulders. Its not perfect, the shoulders are a bit pinkish now, but it's a lot better than winding up with just a colored q-tip, certainly it should be good enough to cover when my toyhax labels arrive! Frankly, if Hastak couldn't use the correct crosses for "reasons" I wish they'd just leave the shoulders blank. Merry Christmas!

I like that they didn't use cell shading for the windows yet achieved that same effect.

I’m looking forward to finding ratchet. I did get the SS bumblebee ratchet last week though.

I got the stuff off the shoulders but it took awhile to get it off I had to saok the q tip and then let it dry over night before I put the crosses on

I vote Ratchet the most improved of 2023. Shame on Hasbro for leaving Toyhax to do all the heavy lifting.
I have an easier way to remove the stock shoulder symbol: take some tape, put it over it and paint it white
Or just some wire tape all together
