Great tutorial on the Bench Lathe. I've had mine for about 20 years now and have always found it very useful. The 3 collet fixture is the best idea yet.

There’s a vibration in the shafts of my older fordom bench lathe. Do I change the brushes like the ones on the flex shaft?

Our bench lathe is not a wet carving machine as it stands. However one of our dealer Diamond Pacific Lapidary Supply makes it into a wet carver. Thank you, Mike Z.

are there any attachments that are suitable for shaping gravers like a bench grinder?

Gravers require specific exacting angles and must be very sharp. Most manufacturers have special jigs to hold the graver at those angle when being sharpened. Unfortunately, Foredom does not have any longer such a tool. The bench lathe has many tool options which could sharpen other tools but there is no special jig that can be calibrated to specific angle and hold the graver while being sharpened. If the user does not care about these angles and just wants to hone down a graver or tool by hand then, yes, there are accessories.

@@ForedomElectricCo I am only asking about shaping a new graver to give it a spine, not sharpening it. Usually would be a bench grinder job. What accessories would I use for grinding down steel?

You can use our A-10074 Ceramcut Blue 120 grit grinding wheel on our A-WM-6 wheel mandrel. See links below:
