He is 51 now. He was 47 in this video and he wrote the song when he was 34 or 35. So the voice will age with the physical form.
Wow, so this guy can actually sing. I like this much better than the streamlined studio version. Sometimes he's just so slightly off tune (2:42 onward, the bridge part), but his voice reaches my hearts, whereas the studio version doesn't...
