Congratulations on those terrific packages, well deserved I might add. I see a flat record spinning in the background..good..good.. I never saw that Jean Luc before, great cover! You inspired me to spin an Oliver Lake I have on from that Klompfoot buying spree I went on thanks to you. I was overwhelmed with the delivery, but as time went on, I have come to appreciate them more and more. I have been "out there" for awhile maybe it is time to smooth things over a bit. Great video, fun to watch all the cool records.
Hi Blake. GREAT to see another VC video from you! Ah yes, I have seen that Jean-Luc on MPS! Wow, never knew Dauner or NHOP played on that. I will pick up next time I see it. Shine looks familiar, too. Can't really go wrong with Oliver Lake in any capacity as far as I have learned. Awesome VCLT! Time to head over and check out the Charles Lloyd vid. :-D
Yeah, yeah. I know that it has been a while. I have really been "knee deep" into another project--you know how that goes. So you have seen that Ponty release?! Wow, I'd never heard of it until Ferenc mentioned it to me in a provate message. It really is a nice recording. Thanks for stopping by and posting the nice comment. Appreciated, Blake
Hello again Blake, This is not in anyway boasting but did you know that I personally named sending packages to our fellow members the 'Love Train'? I got a package from Duane {Laz} a long time ago and when I was thanked him via video by saying "VC Love". One of the first packages that I saw sent overseas had me thinking of plane/train and I added it to the Love. So it then became the VC Love Train. That was how the name originated. You are the first one that I ever told the story to. I did not want to make it sound like I wanted an award for it. But it does feel nice hearing "Love Train" by so many VC members. Nice shout-out to Jimmy 'The King Of Jersey and my personal friend Earl of Suave. One of the best people on God's good earth. Beautiful items you got there. I know how much you love the classical. I never saw that Ponty album before now. Enjoy them all~ Rob/Boston
Rob, you are too kind. I am enjoying that Morrissey "Reflection" LP, for a bootleg, it sounds pretty darn good. Going to spin that Live one "Satellite of Love" tonight. Are you ready for winter to end yet? This is surreal, suppose to get some more snow tonight, are you kidding me??? hahah Stay cool
EarlofSuave308 Hi Jimmy, I am 'more than ready for the winter to go wherever it does for another eight months. As you know this has been a really tough winter. I really want to know if the winters are getting worse than they were forty years ago. Maybe I complain too much? I had to do a pretty good size roof today as well as chip away at ice blocks in the frozen gutters. So I am definitely ready for another endless summer. I know you love the summer too so I am sure you are as ready as I am for a change of season. I hope you are not getting a lot of snow tonight. I think we are getting some tomorrow night but nothing substantial I do not think. That Moz album is fantastic. I played it a lot when I first bought it too. He should have released these songs on a B-sides/demos/whatever type of album. The tracks could have been digitally remastered and sound a lot better than they do on 'Reflection'. But hey, this sounds pretty darn good for a bootleg. OK Jimmy, have a great weekend, Always great to hear from you~ Rob
Hello Rob! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. So it was you, huh? Not sure where I first heard it from but I started using it as soon as I learned about it. And, yes, Jimmy is a class act. Keep warm! Blake
Hey Lovell, thanks for stopping by and leaving the nice comment. I had never seen that Ponty piece before and it is pretty good. If you see it "in the wild," be sure to snag it! ;-) Best, Blake
Hi Blake, nice VCLT there! I actually found that JLP fairly recently though with a different cover. Always interesting to hear him in a straightahead context. Cool classical stuff. Haven't heard enough Oliver Lake, that one looks good. Love Charles Lloyd. Til next time...-Carm
Hello Carm, thanks for stopping by and leaving the nice comments. So you're saying the Ponty release can be found with a different cover? Yes, great VCLT no matter how you slice it. ;-) Best, Blake
Loving the needle drop! I only have Ponty's mid 70s output, which is too fusion-y for me - I will keep an eye out for the earlier stuff. Regarding VCLT for me - I send out quite a bit, not too many people make unboxing videos of what I send... so it looks pretty lopsided, I know... :)
Yes, this Ponty doesn't have that slick fusion-y sound to it. This one is more along the lines of a Leroy Jenkins play. My comment about the VCLT wasn't about the quantity, it was those huge boxes! ;-D
Yeah, I used to enjoy the fusion work until I fell for the more avant garde/improvisational/spiritual jazz stuff. Now the fusion work just sounds too "slick" and "produced" to me. But that tends to happen as we learn more and more about the musics that are out there to be enjoyed. ;-) Thanks for watching and for the kind comments Ben! Best, Blake
***** I like a good bit of Ponty's fusion stuff Blake. I like improv too. And standard jazz. What I chose to listen to all depends on my mood. I don't think I can say that one is "better" than the other - it just depends on what I want to listen at a particular point in time. Even as my taste changes over time, there will always be a space for fusion I think!
Thanks for the shout out. I'm glad you like it! Cheers.
You bet Mike. I certainly appreciate the gift!

I am so glad that people are starting to add that "CL" to describe my "act". :0

"Class Act" ....
Hi Blake nice Jean Luc Ponty have to search for that one sound great in the background. Outstanding VCLT video Blake.

Hello Ferenc! Thanks again for the fine VCLT! Did you tell me if there are any Seifert on vinyl or not?
Ferenc Szasz
Thanks for the info Ferenc. We're looking forward to your video! ;-D
Very nice VCLT, I don't have any of the albums in this video.
I have a good bit of Ponty - all fusion stuff. He's very good , when he's on. You have to research to find his better stuff though...
