  • In this video I review the Vosteed Raccoon pocket knife with a Axis lock style cross bar lock. I go over it’s size and weight in comparison to the Benchmade Bugout and the Kizer Towser S (a stand in for the Spyderco Para 3). I then talk about it’s features that I like. The packaging that the knife comes in. I talk about it’s perfect m, deep carry pocket clip. I talk about is in nice green Micarta scales. I talk about the positives of the Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel. I talk about the high quality hardware that is on the knife. I then talk about what I love about the Raccoon. I talk about it’s overall extreme value. The overall lightweight nature of the knife at only 2.95 ounces. I talk about the wonderful cutting performance and design of the blade shape. I talk about the ergonomic handle design and quality of the handle finishing. I talk about the fun to fidget action. I talk about the smoothness of the action and the strength of the bar lock. I also talk about some small improvements I would make myself.
Overall this knife is practically perfect and it is going to change my expectations on value knives for good. As this is only $60.
I hope everyone enjoys this review and like and subscribe for more EDC Everyday Carry content to come.
    Thanks and peace ✌️

This is the perfect knife for me at least.. I'm love 14c28n sandvik stainless steel... I consider it a good alternative to elmax (bit pricey)... When comparing it to elmax steel you lose a little bit of the edge retention but 14c28n sandvik sharpens up really nicely and quickly too.... I think I might pick this knife up as my new pocket EDC.. but I love 14c28n sandvik so much that I got a companion knife to this too which is the QSP canary neck knife in 14C28N.... during the summer I prefer neck carry and then during the winter I prefer pocket carry / belt carry... but either way this knife and my qsp canary will always be on me or my EDC bag I just interchange them (one I get my hands on it lol).. anyways thanks for the very thorough review😎👍💯

    Very useful review - appreciated!
    One question:
Checked at the Vosteed website the button lock version and the specs say:
“Thumbstud Material: Aluminum” - *_not good and certainly unexpected!_*
For the crossbar lock version, specs mistakenly repeat Handle Thickness dimension, but nothing about material!
Can you comment on this? Checking with a magnet, if possible, would be nice.
    07:57 Nice watch strap!

I like the blade shape and steel better than the bugout plus the handle integrity is better on the vosteed (both with stock scales)…you speak of steels… Dr Larrin Thomas , who created Magnacut , stated that 14c28n would be his steel of choice next to his magnacut steel. I agree, especially for overall durability, sharpening and corrosion resistance it’s one of the best and it’s a budget steel!!!…haha..I wrote this just before you stated it..lmao…we saw the same video at blade hq! I also know about 420hc because one of the most durable and easy to sharpen fixed blades is of the same steel…( The Gerber Strongarm)!which I beat the shit out of and saw videos, like on “Gideons Tactical) Arron beat the crap out of the strong arm and then sends it 10-12 other you tubers who do the same and the knife just keeps on ticking!

Amazon doesn't have this one with the Micarta scales. What do you think of the aluminum handle...they have that model Raccoon for $72 and Nitro V steel. At $72 it's still a steal.

I want the Aluminum scaled on so so bad! It will probably be my next knife buy. BTW there is a carbon fiber one too for that same price.

Thanks for the reply. I made a mistake, I found the one you reviewed on Amazon but for some reason Amazon says they can't ship to my location here in Mass. Which is crazy. I've looked up the laws in Mass. and there's no restriction on button knives. They made a mistake on this particular knife too. All of the button knives that don't have the Omega spring are banned from shipping to Mass. but all the Omega spring crossbars except for the one you reviewed are shippable. Man I hate the government. Think I'll buy the aluminum handle one. Thanks again for a great review. Helped me decide. @@JadeGeminiM390

Clicked on the link you sent. Same message..."can't ship to this location" so it's aluminum for me. Damn, I would have liked that carbon fiber you linked.
