The seem to prefer transistor amplifiers over valve, you need to listen to them with amplifiers with good current capability, I am driving mine with Hegel H590 wish has very good synergy with the Dynaudio’s also recommend Pass Labs.
Not saying they wouldn’t work with a high powered Valve amp, but you will need something that drives them with a bit of power.

I was a bit nervous about driving the DHS so I picked up some Monarchy Audio monoblocks. I'll be picking up my tube amp in a couple weeks 🤞

    • @SmallRoomAudio

Thanks David 😊 🙏 It’s hard to quantify - maybe 20-30% better, although it depends on how much you value speed. The sound signature is similar to the S40, so if you found that wasn’t to your taste these might not be either. @@tango_gru True, things can get boomy quickly in limited space. You could go active with a KEF LSX/LS50w and tame the bass with the app, or use the ‘sock method’ and just bung the port a bit to stop things booming. If you use a desk that’s hollow or resonant you will definitely need to decouple the speakers, some iso acoustics stands or pucks are expensive, but they work well. I’m a first timer on your channel and this review is a great start! Ironically, last spring I auditioned for purchase - for a small room - three of the four speakers you addressed, the Dynaudio Heritage Special, the Sonus Faber Amator III, and the Bowers and Wilkins 805 D3. I loved the SF and the looks matched my mid-century Italian decor perfectly, but on a big McIntosh MA8900 integrated amp it sounded like the “loudness button” was engaged, though the tone controls were bypassed. The Dynaudio on a then-new NAD M33 Masters Series integrated sounded bloated and boomy. The salesperson thought it was fine but I think the M33 was seriously misadjusted, a distinct possibility with a new amp having more features than an AVR. Too bad. I really wanted to like that speaker (and it was in stock!). The 805 D3 was Goldilocks just-right on audition, unexpectedly so as the room it was in was very small, untreated, and had a large glass doorwall behind the seating. It was balanced, airy, three dimensional and had a satisfying rich and detailed bottom end. The higher efficiency of the Bowers and Wilkins as compared to the other two was a bonus and allowed my Luxman 30 WPC Class A integrated to sing sweetly.

I don't doubt these speakers sound sweet but those prices are out of control.

Wish they make this kind of a system in a slightly more modern design. This is better than Contour 20i by a huge margin.

These are my favourite bookshelf speakers . Not that you deserved a reply with such a rude comment.

I heard an online demo where the trebble was a bit tipped up and harsh - too harsh for seven thousand bucks.

These are definitely not tipped up or harsh, the treble is super refined. Maybe a poor recording?

Too bad top tier amplification was omitted in your review.
