I have one sitting in an electrolysis bath. Am afraid to take it out as it will just start to rust again if I don't get all the water out. I liked seeing all the techniques you use that don't involve water.
Very nice restoration. I just picked up two of these exact same RIDGID pipe cutters at an estate sale ($10/each). They are both very dirty & rusty but still function, so, it's time to bring them back to life. BTW, orange is the correct color, NOT red. Once again, nice job. Cheers!
Nice refurbishing project. Just can't beat powder coating... Thumbs Up! I actually refurbish the exact same pipe cover myself. I bought it raggedy off Ebay though for a great price..
Sorry AJ I was busy so i missed out on a few videos of yours but have no fear ill watch them all from the last one i watched. Brilliant work as always. 👍❤️
Hi, Very nice, love the orange, fantastic, glad to see man's best friend always helps out ,( the hammer) , the cheap one's about£46, well worth the restoration, , All the Best Brian 🤗
Great video. If you powder coat something and you missed a spot or the powder comes off can you put a little powder and heat it? Can you touch up powder coating?
Actually until you bake it, yes, you can spray on more powder. After it is baked and cured, you really need to sand off the area really well before respraying again. But it does also work well.
I did try to do touch ups on another project and if you re powder it after it has been cured the second coat leaves a really bad texture. SO its best to sandblast it again and start over. Unless there is a technique I don't know of.
Funny thing, that particular pipe cutter is usually a greyish silver colour. They are sold in stores here. Makes them distinctive from regular other brands which are usually red. Never seen a rigid pipe wrench but they do make one of the best pipe flaring tools. Their ballpoint tool is good but there is a ton of knockoffs of it sadly.
Very nice restoration. A tip for masking for powder coating. Get Kapton tape with silicon adhesive. It's good to at least 500°F. Pricy, though. $36US for 1" x 36yds. And if you get 3M, you help out my town as we make it here in Indiana.
Nice clean restoration but the old ridgid pipe cutter was actually red . And when you cut with them you are supposed to push from you not pull to you. Beautiful just non the less 👍
there is only a surface rust and cutter and the wheel looks very little used. I suspect an artificially created rust after a few days to make a video. But nice work

Abit lazy on this one tbh the flat plates I would of made shiny and the writing I would of painted with a fine brush black also I would of made it red good tool tho
That tool is $150.00 USD brand new, I would say yours qualifies for that status. Normally red, the orange is a nice touch, you will never have to wonder which tool is yours.
As a pipefitter, I like this one very much. Keep up the good work.
I am glad you liked it, I used this tool recently actually and damn does it work like a charm.
Incredible restoration, looks like a brand new tool, maybe better than new.
Awsome, and the colour matches perfect!💪👍🍻
Glad you like it!
Amazing work. It looks like a brand-new tool, and it works like a charm.
Thank you so much 😊

Beautifully done and a different although delightful colour. I loved the restoration with just enough shine to not get ostentatious. 👍🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it
Very nice🤗
Many many thanks!
Nicely done😊
Flawless restoration. Also appreciate that you wrote about the background of the company

Cool! Now that you have a pipe cutter. You can use your pipe vise more efficiently!
That's the plan!

Thank you Brian, even if it's not worth restoring, I like to try and save it. The hammer is a regular in my hands hahaha
Nice job! I think you now own the world's shiniest pipe cutter 😁
You got that right!
Hi buddy, I liked your job, beautiful result 👍
Thanks 👍
@@AJRestoration You are welcome!
Goood work
About time you got rid of those old gloves.
You tell me! Haha

Вполне рабочий инструмент получился
Is that sand blasting cheers
best
New gloves!
I thought you will restore the gloves... Nice job on the pipe cutter.
RIP old faithful gloves 😢
RIP haha
Next time you get a rusty piece of equipment try soaking it in transmission fluid to help break it loose
Hmmm that is a cool idea, Ill give it a try next time, thank you.

No,it isn't, this model ONLY comes in red or orange
Nice, but should rotate it the other way is how it is suppose to be used
Beautiful job. And greetings from Canada.
Thank you Mike! 😊

Nice work. Enjoyed it alot. Can I just ask what kind of camera do you use as your videos look sharp and impressive
I have a Canon M50 with a Rode video micro. Best investment I made to the channel.
15mm to 45mm kit lens with the camera.
Perfeito
Thank you! 😊
Sir iam necessary 4pcs cutterwellfor my own use where znd how Iran buy how much the cost each cutter wheel same model riding product
I think it would look better if you polished the Rigid logo.
Why didn't you sand the main parts before painting?
That would soil the original casted texture.
@@AJRestoration is it possible to sand and polish them to makе them smooth and shiny?
Would you please to make a maintainance for ridgid TC _40 powered Plastic pipe and tube cutter to
accept regards
Nice clean restoration but the old ridgid pipe cutter was actually red . And when you cut with them you are supposed to push from you not pull to you. Beautiful just non the less 👍
This one had traces of its original orange colour.
Me: No way he can restore this
AJ: Hold my pipe cutter
Haha thank you!
👍👍👍
there is only a surface rust and cutter and the wheel looks very little used. I suspect an artificially created rust after a few days to make a video. But nice work
Seriously, how long did it take you to sand that handle?
That took me a whole day, from 8am to 4pm
@@AJRestoration Oh wow. I figured it took a really long time! Great job!

AJ: Be careful with the cutting sharp blades okay. ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️😡😡😡😡
Would have put in a new cut off wheel
No need to, this one still cuts like its new. Unless it had a chip or bump, then it can be replaced. Replacing this cutter would be a waste of money.
🤜🔥🤛🙏💯
You were playing with a rotating cutting blade with the tip of your fingers….
@@sydrider6023 you make it sound naughty haha
