Pay attention that the light is really strong (too much for your eyes), your iPad might be too heavy so it tilts your computer on the side. Moreover - once you put the stickers - it's literally impossible to take it out. I'm talking now from 4 months of experience with the full pro kit.
Have you guys thought about colour matching the adhesive magnets to the apple space grey and just lightly embossing your branding? Part of what puts me off with these is the disturbance to the aesthetic of the MacBook. Maybe you guys could make a Skin/Case that covers the whole back and has the magnets integrated, to make a more seamless look?
One of the best gadgets I bought in the last couple years. Got 5 cores, 2 lights and 3 chargers and ended up with endless possibilities. The best thing I currently use an edge is on the dashboard of my car and the iPhone shows me the driving directions if needed. No need for an ugly phone holder that sticks in the vent. Very low profile that way and I can take it wherever I want. Thanks guys for inventing such a useful tool. Grace mille al Ticino.
Wow, Andy :D Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment. You know..what you wrote is why we create tech gadgets: we want them to be useful! Thanks for your support!
@@laura-rollingsquare5732 WE) have a question. If the magnets are placed on the ipad as shown in the video, can the ipad still work properly with the magic keyboard for Ipad?
The idea of sticking something to a £3k+ laptop that can only be removed by scraping under it with a wire is crazy to me. It’s the one thing that is stopping me trying one of these kits.
For my M1 MacBook Pro, I use an amazing protective shell from Incase. I have the black one--super thin and durable. I placed magnets on the back, no problem. Protect your MBP!
What a friend did was instead of using the wire directly over the surface, she place a really thin piece of cotton cloth as a cushion/protection for the Mac. Hope it helps
I did a very similar hack with my iPad mini several years ago. I stuck a metal ring to the iPad & have a magnet attached to a Ram Mount. A much more flexible and adjustable articulating solution IMO👍rather that a $$$$ and simple hinged magnetic thingy
@@RollingSquare The idea came out of a company that sold a car mount where you glued a washer 1" sized metal ring to my Pixel XL 2 & mounted the round magnet part to your car - worked great. When Apple came out the Mag mounts I initially did not want to deface the iPad mini - But got over it - stuck a Mag Safe sized ring to the back and am so happy I did.
@TerryManitoba That’s awesome! Sounds like a perfect DIY MagSafe hack. Sometimes a simple setup works just as well, glad to hear it turned out great with your iPad mini!
Have you guys done extended life testing on the product? Did you test the durability of the MacBook pros display/hinge when under load via an iPad pro on one side?
I almost bought it when it showed up on my Instagram feed, but then I watched this video and the removal process and I changed my mind. I don’t want to risk damaging my MacBook Pro 14” M2 Max and my iPad Pro 11 M2 with the plates. Nice idea for the product, but I will wait for future versions.
Seems really interesting and I would like to make a case (pun intended) for Macbook and Ipad cases with built-in precisely positioned magnets. If the Ipad cases could be compatible with the magic keyboard ( or include a good keyboard) and have a stand (maybe an edge pro) to reduce the strain on the hinge, it would be even better 😊.
cool idea but to bad you have to add the adhesive plate on your laptop. If it could actually attached magnetically without that adhesive plate, I would buy something like this.
Sorry to say this hs not worked for me on a Surface Pro. I find tht the magnet of the hinge prevents in some way the power button to work. I guess it captures the switching mechanism. As soo s it is removed the Surface will start up without issue. When returned the Surface is put into sleep mode. I love the product and will lokk for other uses.
Hello! We're happy to hear you still love the product despite the issue. You could try placing the core in different areas of the back of the Surface Pro to see if the same thing happens (no need to move the plate, just try to tap the core in some other areas). The device most likely has a magnetic sensor placed where you put the plate, which is used to determine when the laptop is closed and enters standby mode. feel free to message us at support@rollingsqua.re incase of further assistance! :)
Very informative video. Great transparency showing the removal process too! I agree that he should simply have used a plastic card to slightly raise the parts of the sticky pad he had already cut off (his own idea). I agree with the comments too - if you want to use this but want your Mac's surface completely safe, just use a wrap/or shell between the adhesive pads and Mac shell. It would have been nice to see the use of the nano pads ... like on a car dash with fake leather grain.
Hi Guys! The answer is YES :D Thanks for your question, it can be useful for many others. We will try to make it more clear in the communication around our channels/platforms.
What I'd like to know is if I can put two of them on the top of my computer for an ipad pro which is pretty light weight and use it as a top monitor for my macbook?
It will work as long as the surface of the case is “sticker friendly”. If it’s smooth, there shouldn’t be any issues. But for leather/suede skins, it might be incompatible because it won’t stick properly. Hope this helps! :)
How well would this work on a D brand Laptop/Ipad Skin? Considering stacking this product to the D Brand Skin for a better look and if i ever have to take it off. Its either going to be a Leather D brand Decal or a Carbon Fiber type sticker...thoughts?
@lawlinyourface! It will work as long as the surface of the case is “sticker friendly”. If it’s smooth, there shouldn’t be any issues. But for leather/suede skins, it might be incompatible because it won’t stick properly. Hope this helps! :)
The EDGE Pro's magnet shouldn't cause damage to external hard drives, However, it’s still good to be cautious. If you're concerned, it's best to keep the hard drive at a safe distance from the magnet to avoid any potential risk!
just ordered the tablet pack just wondering though i have a samsung galaxy tab s8 ultra will i have to use the magnetic rings instead of just the magnets i cant find if its magsafe anywhere also will it be ok to attatch to the side of my monitor ? thanks
Thanks for the feedback! We understand the concern. The plate is designed for secure placement, and the glue behind the metal plate is quite strong, so removing it certainly takes some patience. It can still be done with the plate remover wire if used carefully, as instructed in the video.
Maybe you should mention that placing the units near the top of the Mac screen is really stupid??!! The hinges on the screen aren't made to support the weight of an iPad and an iPhone. Hence, when tilting the screen it falls (forward or toward you) and you are forced to use the Mac with a 90° angle to the keyboard. Now I must use the fu%#ing string to take it all off, buy 3M thin adhesive tape and re-attach everything 🤬🤬🤬
The problem with Rolling square is that once I decide to change my laptop, the market adhesives are not great and the kit becomes useless. Its just one time investment.
@harinpv! I understand your concern! Upgrading your laptop shouldn’t mean losing out. You can easily grab a replacement kit here: rollingsquare.com/products/edgepro-replacements, so your EDGE Pro stays useful even after a laptop upgrade. 😊
Hello there, It can be attached to the Magic Keyboard, but because of the smooth surface of the Magic Keyboard, we are not sure if the Disc's glue will attach properly, or if it will damage the surface over time. I hope this helps! :)
You can try to use a Nylon string to remove them. The glue behind the metal plate is quite strong, so removing it certainly takes some patience. Also, it can still be done with the plate remover wire if used carefully as instructed in the video rsqr.ch/edgepro/ :)
This product did not suit me. After less than a week, the prominent protrusion broke, and I did not benefit from it because the devices were not stable on it. Secondly, removing it isn't easy, and you need more wires. If your device is not metal, it will definitely be damaged. My Mac Pro survived, but it had some wounds from the surface. It definitely doesn't suit me.

Difficult as most laptop cases are made of nonmagnetic aluminum
@@DaninVirginiaFor the MacBook it would work probably there is metal below the Aluminum

Exactly. I don't know how careful you'd had to be to avoid scratches, seems unavoidable with a metal wire.
Another thing is strain on a hinge. With an IPhone shouldn't be a problem but with an iPad hanging on in a long term could cause issues.
I imagine if you use have a thin piece of vinyl like a D- brand cover it would help in protecting the metal surface when removing.
