My name is Dave and I travel with my dog Bella in a 1987 Class A Motorhome. My channel is about full time RV Living in an older RV while keeping the wheels rolling on a budget. I do the repairs, updates and upgrades myself. I’ve become my own RV Mechanic/Medic! I seek boondocking opportunities every chance I can and power the RV with 500 watts of solar and approximately 500 amp hours of batteries. RV Resorts are just not our style!

Walmart sells Champion online also.
I have a 3 year old I POWER 2000 watt. FAR out of waranty. My carb was clogged and they sent me a new one for FREE. Its actually a yamaha and is very quiet at 52 db
That is very quiet, the champion I'm looking at is rated 53db :)
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Good to know info on the generator. Thank you ❤
I remember when dumping was free at Flying J.
Oh come on! You want to go home! Just say it again! 👍 cold at night, rainy, no sun Ohio! I can guess PA same! But! All my spring flowers & bushes are blooming!!!! You keep making videos & I will keep commenting! ❤your videos!!! Time for warmer weather & repair videos again! 👍I’m looking forward to them!👍
Thank you! I'm looking forward to being back!
You might want to do a compression test as well on the genny, 10 years, new set of rings possibility?
Always fun. Generators always seem to need KLC.
They do need cared for! :)
Hi, Dave Craig here. I have a wonderful champion generator has service me. Well, thanks again. Unfortunately, I probably won't get to use Betty because of medical issues with my wife. Happy motoring, I'll talk to you soon.😂😂😂
Hey Dave, don't head too far north yet up in MN it turned white and in a couple days getting 10 + in. storm.I don't remember if you do the snake oil but I buy Seafoam by the 6 pack and have always gotten by until a good carb clean! Happy travels.
Might be time to make that big move out west to your own piece of property.
It's a nice place to visit, but nah.
Safe travel to you guys! Thanks for taking us along!
Thank you!
You are so fortunate to have the mechanical knowledge you have!! Thus saves so much money that most people have to pay someone else for. 😊
Shouldn't be a problem. All is available on RUclips. You just need the tools to do it.
The month of April in Pittsburgh is more BI-POLAR than Dave's random thoughts are :-) weather-wise
The north east had such a mild winter it'll be full on spring by the second week of April IMO
I am with ya Dave. Give me the 2 lane easy going pace.
You are blessed to have the skills to know the signs of challenges that are coming and the skills to deal with them. THANK YOU for sharing.
Thank you, and You are so welcome!
9:45 take your receipt inside and ask.
-15c here in Eastern Ontario, last night, that's 5f, so you're good for a bit yet.
i had forgotten that you had a bounder..i have a bounder as well.36s..im thinking thats why i found you back in the day...lol
North, it's only -8° here near International Falls...
And I'm whining about 54 degrees in Missouri. Only one boondocker in the parking lot.
I manage a Cracker Barrel in Louisiana. Corporate is now doing a study to determine whether we will remove all of our RV parking spots because of rver's using us for parking and going off to eat at our competitors. We hope this does not happen and are notifying you all to not take advantage of our hospitality and then shop at our competitors or this will probably happen.
I agree that it is rather tacky to park and even spend the night for 1 and sometimes 2 consecutive days at a business and then shop at their direct competitors. I have followed the tribe for years and this is bad manners.
Hi! Is Barrel Burger on the Cracker Barrel menu? 🍔
Yes! :)
Jeepers, all that jibber jabber and it started right up.
Safe travels 😊
Thank you!
Spark resistor may need cleaning.
My generator does that when the altitude setting is not correct.
Safe travels.
Back roads are normally very beautiful and not such as a hassle.
Run some fuel additive through it.
My experience with additives has been the it only sometimes helps, and then for only a short while before having to do it right.
Awesome video
Thanks!
Hey Dave, how about a summer trip up to Vermont. Lots of spots to camp here in the Northeast Kingdom with moose to watch..lol
We might make it there this year!
You're generator sounds great for being that old 😂...give it some ❤️ ✌🏿🏕
My generator in the RV quit glad I have a spare. It's not the ideal set up but it works in a pinch
Hi Dave, My husband and I are from pa ,we spent the winter in fl this year first time. We are also heading back up .in Georgia right now, but trying to go slow to avoiding the cold. Safe travels.
We are also going slow :) Safe travels to you as well!
Hi Dave! Safe travels! It was a pleasure to get to hang with you again! Thanks for helping me out with my rig! See ya down the dirt road!
Thanks, you too!
Hey Dave. I have the same tpms as the one on the right, and it is not real accurate, not like the other one you have, Some of the tires are a few pounds off..
PS if you don’t wanna run a permanent line to the dual fuel generator you can just use the factory line that comes with the generator and run it off a 20 pounder propane tank until you get to the gas station to fill it up
low grade gas will make it run like that
its running too lean, adjust the needle valve 1/2 turn clock wise
In the 30s for the high here in ohio
Nice video!
Thanks!
than the US 2 stroke 1300 watt rom Harbor Freight will do well except for air conditioner. And cost under $100.
Also no oil changes with a 2 stroke.
As for your existing generator try running some Carburetor or Marvel Mystery Oil through it, Plus of course change the fuel filter.
Harbour freight is cheap
Those 2 strokes are terribly noisy! No thanks! :)
Champions are cheaper and quieter.
@@DavesRVLife Not sold here. You are speaking USA and I do not live in the USA
@@DavesRVLife I gave up RVing in 2012. Moved to Panama, Ecuador, Nicaragua and now Costa Rica where I rent a 7 bedroom/5 bath house with 4 car garage on 23 acres for $153 a month. Totally electric and Costa Rica has produced 100% carbon free electricity since 2014 and exports it to 5 other countries. Even have two windgens of my own. No vehicles, unneeded. I have 29 inch 27 speed mountain bikes hers as well as Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. And ride them at age 76, Only oils I use are for cooking or as a lubricant.
Hope you and Bella have a safe trip home.
hi dave
Hi!
Hiya Dave
Hi!
The life of Riley. lol 😆
12 volt battery with full charge should be 13.8 volts. 12.0 volts should be considered dead. Try adding some Cadmium to rejuvenate the battery. Should get an additional 6 months doing that. When you replace keep in mind two 6 volt batteries in series will last much longer. And Deep Discharge Marine batteries best on RV's.
Cost will run about $4 per tire but inflating with nitrogen is much better. Deters rubber rot, and pressure won't change.
One thing about the battery readings like 13.8. You also have to do a draw test. Because my battery red voltage was fine amps are fine. Didn’t think I needed a new battery until they did the draw test on it and then that’s when I realized one of the cells were bad and the battery would go dead in about five seconds.
@@jameslowmanjr6141 Gad a friend with a battery that kept dying. He had it tested and came out good. I tested the cells individually and two cells were dead. Got his battery replaced on warranty. Just use a volt meter with 2 nails on the ends and dip into the electrolyte.
Hey Bella !!!
She says Hi back! :)
We’re on our way north too. Currently near 26 and 81 at a Tennessee State Park.
Does anyone ever travel here to Missouri? there is fishing, river rafting and sand beach but not as hot as southwest. Campers can boondock over night in my parking lot. The store across the way has supplies for campers. (Small town up the road two miles) There's also a furnishing store I've found tools and even a folding chair. The goats are amusing too.
@@cherriemckinstry131 yes, we just spent a week in Branson in February.
Your son sure seems to be the smarter one
We all have our own strengths and weaknesses in various areas.
You can Get a High Amp! Alternator. It's more expensive! But well worth it. I appreciate all your videos! Sincerely your new friend William O
Just watched Ausias video(Pandamonium) where Dave hit I-40 East and Ausia and Jeff took I-40 west up by Ashville NC. Daves probably home now.
You coming to mass?
😁😁😎😎👍👍
Safe travels🤗 give Bella a big hug for me❤️
Thanks, will do! :)
sounds like its surging bad,i hope it doesn't mess up your rooftop air conditioners by not producing enough current to not mess anything up...howdy from NC
It runs steady when I put that much of a load on it, for now anyway. I'll fix it before it gets that bad.
Hi Dave. Love Bella. Your vlogs are great!
Thank you!
Just subscribe to your channel.
Thank you, thank you thank you this is not an insult. Thank you for the laugh out loud.
When I seen your thumbnail replace generator I was thinking the factory generator. But when you opened up the generator door and I seen your generator I love it. And that’s how the factory should set it up. Because if you have problems with the original factory generator you’re pretty much shut down you have no options. You’re at the mercy of Repair people.
And the mufflers half-inch three-quarter inch pipe thread extension use a lawnmower muffler and you can quiet them things down.
Champion makes a 3500 W smaller compact dual fuel remote start generators. You can shut off the propane tank add a propane line and run it back to the dual generator. So if you ever ran out of gas in it you can flip the switch and run it off your propane tank.
I would close that whole area in just to protect that generator more
You asked about how far away from the state line. When you pass that exit it said exit 149 that would put you 2 1/2 hour drive from the state line. Exit go by mile marker. Pennsylvania was the last state to change their exits to mile marker. Just some helpful information so the next time you’re wondering how far you are from the state line.
👍.
Safe travels.😊
Thank you!

Harbor Freight predator generates
The champion is quieter and cheaper! :)
✌️🙏👍
Maybe run some cleaner in the gas tank
Some Seafoam will do wonders.
That might help for a while.
😅
😊
How does that generator get its gas ? Somehow direct from the RV gas tank or manual fill up ?
I have a small electric fuel pump hooked to the fuel line that was in place for the original generator in that compartment.
You swipe your flyingJ rv card then swipe. Your debit card/credit cards..
oops...
🙋♀️👋 enjoy your ☕️
Thank you, I will!
Safe travels!! I'm happy to see all those green trees, by the time we get home in about 2 weeks the worst of the pollen will be over!!!! If you stay in the area, Greenville SC has some cool places to check out. Paris Mtn. State Park is nice and Falls Park in downtown Greenville is awesome.
safe travels Dave and Bella
Thank you!
Hello Dave, my toad just dies and wondering if your Fiests is a stick or automatic as it looks like I need to search for a replacement.
It's a stick, but as I understand it in Ford's towing guide, the automatic is also flat towable.
@DavesRVLife thanks, manual for the focus said the same thing but you have to disconnect the negative on the battery before tow. There seems to be a boot up process that takes a couple of minutes which they didn't cover. Now my toad has crooked...lol
Sorry about Your Generator. I think Eric and the Kitty's had trouble with His Onan Generator.
I know you use the gas from your rv to run your generator but you should run the 100% gas.I have never used the ethanol blend in any of my small engines and have never had a bad carb. That ethanol junk will gum it up.Havent used the ethanol junk for years.
Hay there Dave & let's not forget Bella,on the road again,,one day at a time,,Be safe out there Dave, getting a little closer to home each passing day,Thanks for the videos Dave, It's always nice to see different places and Things,See ya on the next one..
Thanks 👍
Safe travels Dave.
Thank you!
Do you go up I-79 on your way north?
I'll be going I-26 to 81 to 77 to hwy 19
Safe travel 🌋..
Thank you!
Sounds like my generator when I forget and leave the choke on
That girl would not start in Alaska ❤❤❤❤
I bet it would!
почему не залить смесь очистки топливной системы?
Sure sounds worth it to try
?
That only seems to only sometimes work for a short while

He is from Westmoreland County.

Well a lot of things covered . Generator , travel time to … things to get done on the road and at the garage . As you were going across that bridge I noticed a little bounce in the front end , you may want to check your front shocks . Stay safe , have fun , give Bella a rub for me .
The front shocks are new, it was just a big dip in the road.
Also put the thumbs up as always
Hi from Lexington south carolina 😊
Hi!
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dave, it's still been dropping into the 20's at night in southern West Virginia. But, things are trying to bloom and the grass is getting green.
Keep ya jacket handy.😁👍
Honda EU2000i & Yamaha EF3000iSE are my favs, quieter & well worth the extra $$$.
Those are both very good generators, I just don't know about that last part! ..lol
😊
Can you just put in some premium gas for a little while as needed?
I don't think higher octain gas will clean it.
Well that is what my pappy always did. Back in the days when gas was fully loaded without all the damn additives they put in now. We would fill it up in the car then get out on the open roads and just blow out all the stuff in the fuel lines and engine going 80mph. Temporary fix. The gas nowadays just seems to clog up everything you put it in. Maybe you could find a place that sales the o.g. kind of gas. For temp solution.@@DavesRVLife
😊
Hey Dave, I noticed that you use the same washing machine that I do and you also Store it underneath your kitchen table. When I store it under the table, I turn it the other way against the wall. I was able to do this by removing the supports for the table when it in the down position. Also, I was able to use the existing table support leg and move it back closer to the wall, so it was easier to get in and out of the table area without it hitting my knees. Maybe this would work for you too. Was able to accomplish this in just a few minutes.
I guess I could turn it the other way. There is enough room to do it.
Hey Dave!
Hey! :)
My Onan has an adjustment on the bottom of the carb bowl. I either tweak that or give the carb bowl a rap or two with the screwdriver handle to dislodge the crap loose in the bottom of it. Purrs like a kitten.
You should be home just in time for trout season opener
Dave i just bought a 2500 watt Bilt Hard of Amazon for $349 minus $30 coupon for charging my ac200p Bluetti and its so quiet. You probably need a bigger unit to run your a/c but also i put a hour meter on it for $10 couldn`t be happier.
I just looked at that and it operates at 65 db. I'll stick to the Champion that is only 53db for just under $500
Dave you have more experience and good luck with Champion so it makes sense to stick with what you know best for you - continued success !@@DavesRVLife
Harbor Freight for stand alone generator.
Champions are quieter and cheaper.
As a general rule, a portable generator will surge at idle due to a clogged or restricted pilot jet on the carburetor. When the generator is under load, it will often surge due to the governor spring being disconnected, a restricted main jet in the carburetor, or stale fuel.
