just to be clear: the cottages are still very much alive and well (: I split my time equally between the two places.
luckily they are just far enough away from each other to feel like very separate places, but close enough that i don't feel like im taking a road trip to get to the other.
I was very worried i would favor one over the other, but i'm so happy to have realized they both provide such different things; the cottages feel like a fairyland where i have big projects, renovations and landscaping to do. Meanwhile the homestead is new and empty, and i get to stretch my interior decorating creativity and have a whole slew of new things to learn; keeping the property upkept, learning to garden, etc.
This is in no way an end to the cottages, just like buying the cottages wasn't an end to van adventures. You should know by now that i like to have twenty spinning plates going at a time (; I have a ton of new adventures planned for this autumn/winter as well, so don't get too attached to any one thing i'm ever doing lmfao

Something about the moment when you poured the coffee on the deck railing of your new backyard made me swell up with tears. I have watched you for years now - between your van life adventures, visits with friends, cottage living, and now new homestead- the ever changing parts of life, you are still constant with that moment. I am excited and so happy to see everything you share and learn about your new homestead. P.s. homesteading tip: Chickens are excellent garden pals (I garden with 40 of them.) and & my favorite cottage flower- nasturtium flowers are excellent for achieving pollinator populations and they’re edible! Great for garnishing and have medicinal purposes too :)

Hannah, you are living the dream. At some point in most people's lives, they wish to live off the grid and in the country away from the hustle and bustle of civilization, and you seem to have achieved this. My wife has been following your blogs for many seasons, and she would show me videos that you have filmed. I admit that they are amazing and the work that you do is exceptionally well done to perfection. You are a very talented woman and have so many skills and abilities that you are indeed a Renaissance woman. Today, July 10th, I am 76yrs old. Chronologically, I am an old man? There are many of us who would love to be healthy and live to 120? I am not that keen on that. I am a Vietnam Veteran and have some major health issues from my time on the rivers, and being sprayed with Agent Orange twice. So now I am now fighting off deafness glaucoma, and a barrage of other illnesses. But I am a survivor. I used to build furniture and sculpt in clay and wood carving. I was given a Blue Ribbon in with a field of over 200 entrances, by Andrew Calder (visiting Professor) for my nude statue of an assistant in my College Art Class. My model/assistant and myself both received final grades of 4.50gpa's.
I used to write poems and short stories but as I became much more ill, I lost my muse? But, but my point is that I understand the creative mind, and you have an amazing one. Continue to create and do what you love, and soon you will find the answer to the universal question, 'Who am I and what happened to my hammer?'
Wow the house literally looks like a grown up version of your original cabin. It's gorgeous and cozy!! I'm 35 and never would have been able to afford housing if I didn't marry into it. I hope to raise my kids to be competent and confident like you so they can succeed this in system.

I think she needs a winter place so she doesn't have to always go out in the van to get away from the cold. I think it's perfect, close by where she can go to the cottages whenever she wants, but nice and cozy in the winter.

God, she must have the individual aspiration of becoming a literal real estate magnate at her prime juncture in her life, for real. I sincerely hope she has a great time contending with the enormous property taxes associated with these respective properties. Whatever, none of this is any of my individual problem whatsoever, thank God, this much is for certain. Not my logistical problem, not my inherent migraine in turn.

A Hannah crossover with permaculture videos would be soooo amazing for next summer! I spent all winter watching the Weedy Garden, Canadian permaculture legacy, self sufficient me and James prigioni gardening vids and I can totally see you making an amazing garden and learning how to preserve, ahh I’m so excited for you. And you still have your other cabin and Walter so you can just pick what vibe you’re feeling and never feel stuck anywhere which I’ve learned is totally what I need as well. Buying more property was honestly my first guess when I saw this last night because you are very mature in how you handle how much success you have created for yourself at such a young age. You are setting yourself up for a very nice future and don't put all of your eggs in one basket. You create beautiful places to rest your head. First Walter, then cabin #1 upstairs bed, then Cabin #1 living room, which is a nice bed, then bedroom in Cabin #2, now you buy a cute homestead and finally a gorgeous floating bed on the patio you built. All the things you do are creative. I'm excited to see what this new place brings. Having a creek is the most! I would love that so much!

All I can say is stay humble my friend. I can see the difference between your initial videos with transparency and a little bit conforming to Instagram style of videotaping. I liked it when you were just you. Don’t conform maybe my opinion. You deserve what you have what you receive with viewers. Random note: have you ever considered getting a Habitrail system for Despero? I had hamsters when I was younger, and I would put a Habitrail on top of each aquarium. They have tubes that go down into the aquarium and all kinds of cool stuff in the top level. She might dig it!

Congratulations Hannah! The homestead is beautiful and the land is absolutely dreamy. I'd sell the cottage in a heartbeat once you have a few repairs done, the roof. Housing has become such a precious commodity in so many places. Too many homes are going to big real estate investment firms and leaving home buyers in the dust. When I was growing up we did have a home on Merritt Island, near the space center where my Dad worked. But we also had a cabin in the Ocala National Forest where my Dad and I could let our outdoorsy selves shine. My Mom and Sister hated it, but I couldn't get enough of the woods, quiet and nature. We'd go to the cabin about once a month when the weather was nice. The cottage would be great for a family to have the same experience. Bringing friends along to rough it in the second cabin, having bon fires at night. Just a thought. You do you. Congratulations again, God bless.
