  • This is a long overdue video. A couple of months ago Tim N9SAB sponsored me with one of his antennas, a portable G5RV.
    How good is this antenna, and how bad was band conditions on the day I tested it? The short answer is yes, the antenna is really good, and yes, the band conditions were really bad.
    I paid import duties and shipping on it, but the antenna itself was free. All opinions are my own.
    You can buy one of Tim N9SAB's excellent antennas over at Ebay: www.ebay.com/s...

    Tim N9SAB makes great antennas. I have been thinking about this one too. Glad to see it worked well for you. I am looking forward to seeing more on it.

    Bands were not good today. Anything above 17m from Norway today would have been an achievement. Well done on preserving to get the needed 10 contacts despite the technical feeder connection problems.
    Usual situation when you say you are going qrt, there's a pileup.

      This was not recorded today, but on April 1, when bands were a bit worse off than today. And you always gotta keep going in order to try to activate.

      @@LB0FI yes, I agree, one has to qualify the park (at least you don't need 44 contacts as in WWFF!);
      I'm out tomorrow so I'll see if anything has improved. 73 Ed.

    Forgetting bits and bobs at home lead to experimentation...and occasionally, innovation.

      It usually does, but more often than that it leads to frustration.

    Seems like a nice antenna, same excellent build quality as the one I got I guess?
