Leo’s adaptation is literally insane; combine that with his precise gameplay and it makes sense why he reverse 3-0s half of the time
That's one of the craziest things about Leo to me. It doesn't matter if he's winning by a lot or losing by a lot, his gameplay quality never changes. He's always playing on point.
He just has an incredible mentality too. It’s like he plays better when the cards are against him and he’s about to lose. And his opponent know that, which only plays to his strengths
I think he’s 50/50 or close to it when going down 2-0
@@silvesta5027 in other words, he's an anime protagonist.
@@silvesta5027 I think I have heard that he likes to be the underdog… when you are down 0-2 you always become so
MkLeo loses 1 tournament to Tweek, everyone thinks Tweek, who places more inconsistent, is number 1.
MkLeo wins literally almost every other tournament he enters or gets second, but they neglect that.
MkLeo is still the uncontested best Smash Ultimate player
It's legitimately crazy that people think that 1 win determines who's best in the world.
Dude, the man hasn't got anything less than second in IRL tournies. You're literally statistically more likely to lose to him than win, even when he's as far down as possible.
Actual insanity.
@@Suzaku_Mizutani bruh no one thought it was because of 1 win. Tweek was insanely dominant at summit. Leo could hardly touch him and looked so outpaced.
I’m a Leo fanboy, but you have to admit it.
All the top players were talking about THAT. Not the fact that he won a single tournament.
@@ethannnnnnn Tweek got 3-0'd by someone in literally the same tournament. But we don't see people saying Aaron is better than Tweek because he dominated him. Tweek has always had inconsistencies, and while he was #2 and thus the closest to Leo, it's still a good maragin.
Don't think for a second that the reason people were jumping on this Tweek #1 train isn't because of that Summit win. 1 dominant win makes everyone's head turn, and this is no different.
@@Suzaku_Mizutani well it was generally agreed upon that the 3-0 loss to Aaron was matchup inexperience in the ditto and Tweek was so dominant AFTER an extremely long break for everyone so change in rankings was very possible. That being said, Leo is definitely still the best lmfao
@@Suzaku_Mizutani Great point about Aaron. I find it extremely odd that Marss dropped an anecdote that he and other top players legitimately thought that Tweek was the best player after one win... especially knowing how adaptable Leo is. Honestly seems like a low-key cope for them because they know that Tweek's comeback factor is so much lower than Leo's and if Tweek had actually become the best player in the world it would've been much easier for other top players like Marss to contest him.
Really says a lot that Leo popping off is rare dude is so good he usually just stands up there smiling like: "Yeah, I won again". Ultimate is gonna get crazy competitive moving forward though. Leo is getting pushed pretty hard in every tournament and so many good up and coming players have been storming the scene in the few IRL tournaments we've had so far. Can't wait to see how crazy the scene is in 2022.
To be fair this is the first time he’s had something to prove, since he didn’t compete as much as he did before the online era
Bro Leo doesn't popoff not because he knows he's sick good, but he doesn't want people to feel bad and he wants to be modest
@@jannomeeuwessen4886 yeah that’s what he’s said in an interview
@@kaIawin that's Why I said this
He’s mostly playing byleth and not only joker/pyra mythra so his time is focused between almost 3 characters and the main one isn’t even top tier. I feel like if Leo stayed only playing joker or only pyra mythra he would be running through top 8, maybe he’s tryna test him self or he just really like byleths
These videos where Marss looks over top level games and gives insight are always my favorite
Literally the best type of videos
These are my favourite videos from Marss. I always try to tune in to his analysis vids, they’re really good
I love them so much bc he fucks around so much online and goes for cheesy shit and then turns around and does probably the best analysis of anyone (the only real competition is ESAM and that’s because he does a bunch of frame data analysis and knows how to apply it to matchups)
True that
Poppt1 is one of my favorite RUclipsrs for ssbu content because of how well he understands the game and for his presentation.
That said, it’s different having someone like Mars, who has beaten MKLeo before weighing in on this stuff. I feel like it just hits another level.
Can’t wait for Marss to analyze his losers finals set with leo. The game 4 comeback was so close
Actual GF there. Respect to Dabuz but he got clapped.
@@chony93 hard agree
This is genuinely something that amazes me every time. Marss’ entire gimmick and character is his cockiness, we all know he’s not actually like that in real life. But when watching this set, he was literally so amazed that he dropped the act and you could feel the level of respect and admiration that he has for Leo. It really puts into perspective why he popped off so hard for Genesis 7.
It’s for the content, he still has to acknowledge and respect this play otherwise he wouldn’t have made it as far as he has
Marss analyzing MKLeo feels like Endeavor analyzing All Might
i agree
More like Mirko
Lmaooo
@@Mono-ni7yu Aight Marss is now Mirko in my mind i can't unsee it lmao they're the same 😆
I feel like Leo just straight intimidates people now. Like Diddy should have no problem winning neutral against a character as slow as Byleth, but Tweek is still terrified to play around him
It’s crazy how well Leo played around the banana as Byleth of all characters. Wild
Well there's a reason they are scared
@@silvesta5027 Nah Leo legit used banana for combos, conversions, and pressure better than Tweek did lmao. He let Tweek pull banana because he was benefiting from it more than Tweek it’s actually insane
@@sonymicronin I don’t understand. I’m pretty sure all I said was that Leo played very well around Tweek’s usage of banana?
I didn’t mention Leo’s great conversions / combos off his own usage of banana. I agree, they were amazing! But idk why you bought it up 😳
I can't believe Marss forgot grand finals of Genesis 7 🗿
He will never forget that.
It's good to see a toned down Marss being serious and actually sharing his thoughts.
when someone is really critical about everything their compliments are gonna mean so much more
@@Fritz_Haarmann Well, it doesn't mean much more. He was just an asshole and here he seemed like a human being.
@@kennyfernandez2866 I agree. And the analysis is great as well.
@@soju_b Proof of how much more value you have as a human being when you approach things earnestly and honestly.
@@kennyfernandez2866 lmao
This set was so incredible to watch on stream
Still say the best set(s) in Ult we’re Leo vs Tweek. The circumstances of the games were pitch perfect
Thank you again to the editor for saving me the time of figuring out what the songs are.
I would to see more marss analyze more sets . I feel like i got some good notes from that.
I feel like making an essay on this set and then giving it to marss to see if he can fact check me on the set lol
never seen marrs compliment leo so much
Maybe he’s finally been humbled lol
@@_AG1994_ Nah man. He's always thought about Leo like this. Just didn't say it.
@@_AG1994_ every video where he analyzed Leo, he couldn't resist at some point saying a form of "he's so good/why is he this good" etc. Marss is one of Leo's biggest fans, as a competitor lmao. It's kinda hilarious, does the "best player in the world" bit but still puts Leo on a pedestal in these videos. He normally does the same with Tweek tbh, he just respects them.
Leo's adaptation is monstrous. He's like Neo in the Matrix. Give him a month and i'm sure he'll give ESAM the business.
Daily marss vid to fuel my addiction ~ some guy from the last couple videos
Seeing Leo eager and hungry just shows this rivalry is only getting started between them, and I’m here for every single second of it
for set reviews you should put your cam in the middle so that both players are visible
It was funny when Mars was talking about how much you can tell from Leo's body language--but Mars' cam completed covered Leo.
It’s kinda crazy seeing Marss react to how good Leo is because as a spectator I’m like “ oh shit Leo’s good” but when a top 5 player reacts the same way it says something about how good Leo actually is.
MKLeo isn't just the undisputed #1 in Ultimate, he's already in the position to be crowned the Smash Goat.
Not only he kept his #1 spot in the most popular and played Smash game in history (wich makes it the hardest competition wise) since launch.
He also kept his #1 spot transitioning from Sm4sh to Ult, nobody ever kept his title from one game to the other except for M2K before.
6:19 If I had to guess why this happens, I think Leo is so close to the ground that his down throw of the banana spawns it on the lower portion of Tweek's shield so when the banana bounces up it is still touching Tweek's hurtbox when he drops shield.
Ahhh another dose of quality content
Leo seems like the only player that has fought against Tweek's Diddy and perfectly played around banana.
Goblin and Elegant in Low Tide city did pretty well too.
Kagerou pog
Damn humble marss once in a while ain't bad ngl
My favorite ultimate set will always be Nairo reverse 3-0'ing Light with Ganon
Hold up wtf???? I never heard of that set, im gonna go watch it rn
Lol I remember how ridiculous that set was
At 6:19 the reason banana hits his shield and he still falls on it is banana can be slipped on even when you’re in shield which allows Diddy (or Byleth in this case) to dthrow banana at a specific spot such that when it hits the ground the game registers you as on the banana and you slip. It’s a rare interaction that most Diddys are aware of but it’s not an easy thing to go for or set up. I imagine Leo was mainly expecting the banana into bair would just pressure Tweek’s shield though. Just one more thing to fit Tweek’s idea that Leo is the luckiest player alive lol
Love the content keep it up man!
Marss talking about Leo is giving me TFS Vegeta vibes when Broly goes berserk
My favorite sets are definitely a 3 way tie between Leo and Tweek Evo 2019 grand finals, Marss Vs Leo at Genesis 7, and Marss vs Goblin at LTC most recently. All for completely different reasons. At Evo I saw Leo kinda spend time just analyzing Tweek and then just punishing every single mistake he made once the download was complete. Gen 7 I got to see a top player just absolutely discipline another top player for trying to sleep at the wheel. At LTC the set was so close that it truly came down to "Who will make the final mistake" and I was just on the edge of my seat the whole time, especially when I came in thinking that Marss kinda just had that in the bag (no disrespect to Goblin, they're both amazing I just thought Goblin didn't know the match up as well).
Leo vs Zackray @Frostbite was also good
Super cool how the conversation for best in the world is even a little up in the air again. I feel like the rivalry is alive
Would have been funny if they used the whole "best smash player" meme for Marrs.
Can't express how great your analysis videos are
Now hold on, 7:15 we are cutting out the part where he nearly had the sickest recovery route into sweet spot f-smash? nooooooo
Anyone remember the reverse 3-0 bracket reset 3-0 from Leo v Tweek at EVO 2019 Grands? That’s one of my personal favorites because of just how insane it was to watch
TIMESTAMP:6:25 Tweek blocks the first hit from the BANNA DROP. He forgets that it has 2 and even if you block the 2nd hit and you have a low shield you can STILL SLIP! (Due to it poking shield before it hits the ground) Great game knowledge from LEO. TWEEK actually does this off the ledge ALOT😂😂.
Damn did not know this!
I didn’t even think it pokes shield I thought it’s just a weird mechanic of banana that it guarantees a slip on second hit from directly above
@@kangarapps368 I know right lol the best option is to Z drop catch the banana after the 1st hit.
I like your commentary on these sets Marss please keep it up!
Everytime I watch these videos, I'm like "Man, this sounds familiar... Oh right, I watch nearly every Marss stream... and every Panda joint video... that would explain it..." *Still watches every Marss video until the end*
Marss: "Treat him like a slow character, make him come to you!"
Marss at Lowtide: *approaches" loses set to Leo.
LMFAO
Nah man. Marss was playing pretty defensively against Leo. Yeah, he went aggro *in advantage*, where you’re supposed to, but that’s just optimizing your punish game. Marss’s neutral has gotten really safe and to me his performance at LTC is proof he’ll most likely end up 3rd or 4th best player in the world as things settle more (if he’s 4th it’ll be because of Sparg0)
@@whaloob played aggressively all of game 4. Cost him the set
It seems like hes playing defensive because of the distance he puts in between the players. But that's what ZSS does. He was chasing down MkLeo every game, and leo just kinda waited for Marss to wiff. Marss used to be a patient character who punished his opponents for overextending. Marss was overextending this time
You know the set has to be good when Marss calls it better than Light vs Nairo’s Ganon
Leo is on another level. He knows more about the way you play than you do. He’ll wait for you to slip up, then get in your head and stay there until he wins.
He didnt even Pop off that much at EVO 2019
The kind of analysis we need
10:33 Ouch, right in the monke ba**s
Marss really pulled out the X-Box live mic for this one
11:00 it's my reaction too lmao
banana shield pokes certain characters at full shield depending on where you hit the shield on certain characters
This is my favorite type of Marss content
Marss' reaction at the end kills me
he doesn't monkey flip as much because Leo literally dodged or punished pretty much all of the attempts he tried, Leos spacing and reaction time is insane
My favorite set is Cosmos's set against Dabuz where he reverse 3-0'd with Corrin, so sick
Gonna go watch a video, bbl.
I didn't know Leo also had a Chippy on his side.
I remember going MONKE when I watched this set live. Leo's just otherworldly
My favorite ult set is legit The Lunch Box #8, Sparg0 vs Chag grand finals, it was so hype to watch live, since it went to game 10 and each match was last hit last stock.
It sucks that the vods have been lost to time
1:56 ayeee that's the ost, yay.
Dang Marss got that Xbox live mic
favorite set is light vs nairo. When nairo switched to ganon it was hype af.
I respect Marss so much. Saludos 🇲🇽
why?
The banana bounces off shield and has 2nd hitbox which catches tweek when he dropped his shield there, at least I think that’s what happened
Love seeing top players talking about the best player and what their thought are on them
Your an extremely knowledgeable player Mars, please do write that essay lol, your analysis is valued 🙏🏽
Tweek v Glutonny Wario Ditto was sick af despite the game 5 SD to end it
Reverse 3-0 and the 3 stock damn
For sure you are one of my two favourite Smash content creators. Thanks
Mars you can go frame by frame if you hold comma and click period for each frame while paused
1:42 kamonkazee
Its like Leo sees the future and does the Neo: "NO"
Leo popping off means tweek is definitely coming for the throne haha
Doubt it lol
It just means he's threat.
This didn't age well.
For Byleth up air you have to di down and diagonal the opposite way you are being sent. I usually react by di’ing down first then reacting with a left or right input depending on which side of byleth I’m on.
It’s actually funny you say this, because a lot of people tend to mess that up more when in a jab lock combo against byleth
@@blusnax7959 yeah, you can react with a di in on the jab. But the up air you have to react on the spot.
When I saw the title I immediately assumed this video was gonna be genesis 7 grand finals
The thing that makes Leo the best imo is the adaption. If you look at Summit vs Riptide you can see a lot of stuff that was working on Leo and for Tweek isn't working now and you can see Leo is not only using different approaches, reactions, and habits, but he's also engaging with the banana and taking initiative to make it his own. Tweek is amazing but he kind of just plays his own game all the time which is a great way to win if you're consistent, because you just enforce yourself on the other player, however if theyfigure out answers to your standard style of play, you have to make an adaption to get the better of them and that's always been the place where Tweek has trouble against Leo. It's not "choking" as people like to say, even if you go all the way back to that Evo Grand Finals. It's Leo figuring out Tweek and Tweek not figuring out what to do in response.
Leo vs tweek is always such a blast
It happened years ago, it happens again
5:23 yessir 🥶🥶
Not to be a marss Stan, but I think the grand finals game you had at Genesis 7 is the best smash I’ve ever watched.
Humble Marss is actually my favorite streamer
Leo is the king of reverse 3-0 and what’s wild is that it feels worse than normal 3-p
Watch Esam vs Leo ! Please !
The music pause when marss paused the vid 😋
Leo probably just takes as much Information as he can the first 2 games and then try to use everything the next games like a bomb and the opponent feels overwhelmed because he thinks he was winning so solidly and has to process the sudden change in playstyle and also adapt to him in real time
I love the respect
Marss and Leo sitting in a tree…
It is our duty to let this masterpiece of game live for a long time from now on.
Mr. Masahiro Sakurai gave us so much, im shure we can make this game stay
for another decade or more like melee does.
Let us work together! #ssb
Clean ass breakdown!
Friendly reminder that if you are up 2-0 against Leo you are more likely to get reverse 3-0ed then win the set. That is actually insane.
6:30 bananas have two hit boxes (probably knows this but) impact which will auto slip and falling which will slip of the character moves towards the falling position. Maybe who am I to know
I still think your set versus Mkleo at genesis 7 is the best.
9:18 ahhh
Good content
Tweek is defintely number 2 imo. The dude is fucking insane
If tweek could play every game with same mindset coolness and everything, he would be the best.
That’s dosnt work vs Leo bc Leo’s neural mixups adaptability and coolness under pressure. Tweek can bebbetter than anyone not names Leo.

Was MKLeo cosplaying as a ninja or something in the thumbnail? 🤔
if Marss had an eternal punishment it would be playing Mkleo until he can 3 stock him.
Am I watching a Haikyuu episode?! Because watching Marss analyze this set made it feel like one
my favorite set will forever be marss beating mkleo in g7
I wonder if there is behind the scenes bribery
My favorite set ever is the Gluttony v Tweek Wario ditto at Kongo Saga
I swear if marss just trained and labbed more especially for his worst matchups and players, he could be the best.
I think Marss keeps his head cooler than Tweek but I don't know, for me Marss is 3rd best, no doubts, but he's so inconsistent lmao
He’s too cocky which is partly consistent with his success for as star and as a player. It’s a hard bout for him. But he was able to control his over confidence he would easily be the best, it’s kinda sad to see lol
@@samuelamezcua2105 It’s not his cockiness, he just doesn’t know how to keep the dial at 10 at all times. He’s inconsistent. At his worst, he drowns in pools, at his best, he’s the best player in the world. Also ZSS has a terrible MU spread and his mains aren’t top level ready.
@@samuelamezcua2105 easily? No, lol. Just too much other talent. Even when you said that, it was an ignorant statement. Nobody can easily be the best. Except for apparently McLeo. Bro really work the world, smh. Needs to give someone else a chance more often lol.
Leo is just a monster. Tweek caught him on a bad day. Then the gears started turning lol
Cap
Tweek did not catch him on a bad day. Man completely outclasses him that day. Leo put in a ton of Diddy practice after Summit for these results.
Ngl I was expecting G7 grand finals
Watching shit like this makes me realize how a$$ I am at this game
You compared yourself to a then top 2 matchup in the world. You're not trash, lmao. Just a bad comparison.
Well, Leo is just built different.
