- Rayman Redemption is a remake of the first Rayman for PS1 by Ryemanni and it's easily one of the best remakes alongside AM2R with new levels, new worlds, power-ups, bosses, pretty much everything you'd expect from a remake.
What I'd say had the biggest change was the difficulty, it's no longer bullshit, the final challenge doesn't count, everything is now designed so if you screw up, it's all your fault. You also don't need all Electoon cages to get to the final levels, thank god.
This video covers all normal bosses, as the ones in True Arena I need to practice a lot.

The Mr. Dark fights are of such high quality that it feels like they would have fit into the original game seamlessly.
Yeah if I remember Mr. Dark was never fought directly in the original game. The game ended after the Amalgamation boss. Sure you can probably say the Amalgamation was him shape shifting because of his icon on the health bar but still you never fought his original true form. Here though you not only fight his true form. You fight him again in an enhanced form and a third time as the Dark Protoon for a cool bonus boss fight.
"Seamlessly" is a bit too generous, but still, this is a wonderful remake.

This Mr.Dark fight (the one in his castle) is loosely based on his fight in the GBC version of Rayman 1, so it is somewhat canon and fits really well with the actual game.
@@showman891 eh the attacks get a little stale since they are the same in the final forms, like the red spikes could be bigger and gnarled looking for the final phase instead of the exact same as the previous phases.
Still great, but I think a slight bit of polish in a few spots would really help out

What a treat to see Mr Dark getting the legit boss fight he deserved. Also, having played it, I'd say the only boss who (ironically) got easier was Space Mama? All the other bosses are pretty comparable/slightly trickier.
Space Mama's first fight has also been made way easier. Also, I find the Sax fight to be easier as well in Redemption

i am SO glad we got to fight Mr Dark this time! I was so pissed we never got to deal with the guy who was the freaking main antagonist in the game! Instead we got (admittedly creative... for its time) merged-together bosses that barely had anything to do with Mr Dark himself!
Ubisoft does not care about fangames, so let this go in the fangame hall of fame.
It's a shame it was made by Ubisoft, not Valve, because Ryemanni would have gotten a helluva job with Valve right now, for a fan-piece like this!
Well I think Ubisoft loves this fan game, but they don’t wanna be like Nintendo. So they are nervous about asking Ryemanni if they could port his masterpiece onto consoles.

The Dark Chimera was originally Mr. Dark's second phase.
Mr. Dark's first phase was a survival challenge until the Electoons got you the golden gloves.

The Mr. Dark battle appears to be based off of his fight from the Gameboy Color version of Rayman. Mainly, having those orbs revolving around himself, raining down projectiles, striking lightning, and becoming vulnerable when he turns into a ball.
I personally haven't played that version (it doesn't appeal to me, but that's just me), but it certainly nice it was reinterpreted in this remake, instead of having the chimera fight.

Pretty sure they won't. The creator already made two Rayman fangames, one of which was made 5 years ago. This won't be the Nintendo DMCA shenanigans, that's certain.
Someone made a Spyro Fangame and he got a C&D despite not being Nintendo.

That Mr. Dark boss was something freaking epic, if only Origins can gave us that... but I imagine the whole game with the Ubi Art Framework engine, with Legends design more life points like the game showed and more challenging levels, the Mr. Dark fused with the great Protoon boss was an ingenious idea! I mean who could imagine that? That Mr. Dark the most powerful (and Legendary) villain of the Rayman franchise. (Sorry, Andre...) note to mention that Dark Rayman & Dark Moskito fight.

Adding onto what fug figgen said, the Magician from this game turned bad cuz he thought Rayman, Globox and Polokus sucked as heroes and protectors. So, he started a war between The Glade and The Livid Dead to cause chaos; Rayman would collect Lums and he'd trade them for Electoons. The Magician would use the Lums to power an army of robots and his flying city, then take over the Glade and kill Polokus when his machines were complete.
There was cut dialogue from the game that explains all this. They shouldn't have scrapped that cuz it gives us context.
I agree that Mr Dark’s battles in this game were epic, but as for the levels, I think they’re already challenging as they are.
I never expected someone to make full remake of this classic game. I like all the bew stuff added to this game

they nerfed space mama hard, I remember being stuck on her when I was a child, and in this version I managed to beat her first try
All of the "difficult" parts of the game are made much, much easier. It's a bit disappointing really.
For instance, in the "Art World", many of the Thumbtacks are removed above the pencils and bouncing platforms. Pencil sharpeners also move half speed, and many overall obstacles have been removed.

@@crocodileman94 Yes, and that's literally the only thing which is arguably more difficult.
Also, hard mode can quickly be disregarded as you gain extra HP from cages. Instead of 3 HP you start with 1, and gaining 3 hp through cages is done quickly enough.
The fight still looks pretty hard. It’s just not _tooth-grindingly frustrating_ now that she doesn’t shoot from behind the washing machine.

I really like the music of this game. The mosquito theme, skops theme, space mama theme... And themes like hard rocks, or every single skops map, picture city map.. Awesome nostalgic feeling
as a kid I never understood why you fought mr dark, and then he would send 4 random dudes after you and that was the fight,
Only later on I learned that those 4 dudes actually ARE mr dark, But I like how they are their own character now. and that mister dark got an improved fight,
Ubisoft presented nothing for rayman for so long...

Well, it is a good animation, but I mainly use it for better dodging on the bosses, the jump when walking seems too slow for some of the attacks.

I haven't beaten Rayman 1 yet but this PC port even if it's not official looks to be the best one. The new content that isn't exclusive in the other versions makes this more replayable it seems.

That was awesome, I do have one criticism though, during the final boss those walls of spikes looked really out of place, maybe a different colour would’ve suited but it kinda ruined the awesomeness for me.

For Chessmaster, yeah, I feel like the older one could be left there, but The Menace was way too difficult for the testers, so it was changed around. He's still a douche, though.

I found that the menace boss fight is easier than most of the other bosses
It was a mediocre fight compered to the other ones ( all of mama' s fight are fun, especially the space mama one) mixed with the fact that his desing is kind lame and doesn't get that much tension as the other bosses, he is/they are probably my least favourite boss so far
Also no I haven't finish the game yet so I am not giving critisism on the other bosses (and I also haven't watched pass the manece boss fight)
Edit: I have ufficially finished the game and I can safely say that the menace and the chessmaster are the weackest boss fights in the game

Seriously the old chess master was way better after you got your piece across the board he starts to rage screaming “IM THE BEST” then starts phase 2 of the battle where it’s a traditional boss fight

Actually, he's pretty easy. The trick is that the shots from his tail track your fist. Be glad the lava section from the original fight was cut and replaced with a new level instead.

Oh believe me, I am trying. I am trying hard to beat that son of a bitch to finally get that 100% completion, but it's so brutal. The furthest I got so far was Greek Mama, which I lost due to a bug.

Actually, I didn't die. If I would've died, the fadeout would be in center of the screen, not at the location I fell into. It even returned me to the map without the life being lost.
