  • In this video I share 6 reasons why I think the Godox Knowled C5R is one of the best values when it comes to RGB pocket lights.
    The Godox Knowled C5R not only includes the light and charging cable, but a silicone diffuser, and high-quality, zippered carrying case.
    It not only features a metal body, but has internal magnets as well, so you can easily attach it to other metallic surfaces.
    You get all the usual modes, like CCT, HSI, and special effects, but it also has a built-in microphone to sync flashing colors to audio, which is perfect for music videos or live events.
    Wireless control is also supported through the Godox Light mobile app, which gives you control over individual, or groups of lights, as well as extras like color picker mode.
    The Godox Knowled C5R has good battery life too, about 2 hours at 100% brightness, and can be recharged or run indefinitely via any USB-C power source, but also supports wireless charging, which is very rare.
    Leave a comment and let me know if you think the Godox Knowled C5R is one of the best RGB pocket lights for budget creators, or if there's something else out there you prefer.

    How often do you use pocket lights? Is yours better than the Godox Knowled C5R?

    A comparison with the MC and the MC pro would be nice.

      I did a full video on the MC Pro here, which has comparisons to the original MC as well, if that helps ruclips.net/video/_DF_hS50q9M/видео.html

    Quite often for extra fill, Great for night photography portraits. Do use a godox but M1 whilst not magnetic or Bluetooth has all features of this light, plus 2.5 x power, and 2.5hrs battery life on full power worth checking out. The CR5 seems good, May get a couple as well.

      I really like the Godox R1 round "puck" style lights too. I've used them for ambient/mood lighting at events with the dome diffusers and they work great.

    Any idea about the brightness differences with the Godox M1?

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  11 месяцев назад

      I've never tested the M1 myself, but it's 13W, so I'd guess is around 2/3 stops brighter than the C5R based on that alone.

      @@NewLayer yeah I figured as much, because it is also more expensive.

    How does this light compare to the Aputure MC Pro? Which do you recommend?

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  2 месяца назад +1

      It's a good option if you're on a budget since it's less than half the cost of an MC Pro.
      The MC Pro definitely feels more pro-level, while this does not feel cheap, but it's more of a consumer product. The C5R doesn't have some advanced stuff like tint control in CCT mode, the Sidus Link mobile app is better, and this has a silicone diffuser only Vs. the magnetic modifiers from Aputure.
      If you don't need production-level build quality or advanced stuff, it's a good option. It also has wireless charging, which the original MC had, but the MC Pro does not since they moved to a different, proprietary charging solution to go along with their multi-light production kits.
      Hope that helps!

      @@NewLayer thanks a lot for the feedback. I know the MC Pro is better but yes you also pay more for it. I’ve seen the C5R sell for about a third of price of the MC Pro now. That makes it worth it but I was still curious about light quality. I guess overall they do about the same for light output but yes things like tint control on the MC Pro make it worth the difference if needed. Thanks again for sharing.

      @@dwmspace Color accuracy is comparable between the two. The C5R has slightly lower CRI, but slightly higher SSI. The tint on the C5R is slightly more since it has no tint control, but nothing bad at all, so in real-world use, they are essentially the same.

    What's the power output (how bright - lm)?

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  10 месяцев назад +2

      I got a max brightness of 231 lux, so it's the same brightness as pretty much every other non-lensed RGB pocket light.
      Some are very slightly dimmer, and some are very slightly brighter, like the Ivisii G2 and Weeylite RB9, which are 287 and 278 lux respectively. That equates to MAYBE 1/3 of a stop, so essentially identical.
      If you want something especially bright, I'd highly recommend going for a lensed light like the Aputure MC Pro or Nanlite LitoLite 5C.

    Other than the microphone it’s a MC Nock off. But good video.

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  11 месяцев назад

      I mean... the MC wasn't the first pocket light ever made, so it's hard to say anything knocked it off.
      The 1 feature that was "copied" is the wireless charging, which I really like. Although it's funny, because the MC Pro no longer has Qi wireless charging, but this light does.
      This light is also 2x as bright as the original MC, and way better built in my opinion. Either way, good to have options :)

      @@NewLayer People without common sense love to toss the words "KNOCK OFF" a lot when it comes to Godox brand or any Chinese brand.
