      Deja Vu is easily a top 5 em song but unfortunately people only look at his hits and don’t really dig deep into his discography. That song easily deserves to be among his best work than other songs people praise a lot.

      I believe one of the biggest points against Relapse is just the accents right? (And I guess some odd song choices)
      Otherwise, it's a really fun concept album, digging into that perspective of a serial mess to society

    Revisionist cap on Future’s “Honest”. People loved “Turn on the Lights” and “Neva End” before it so “no toxicity” wasn’t the issue; he didn’t even have that rep yet. “Honest” wasn’t well-received because it was too pop-mainstream. Before “DS2”, he reformed with the “Monster” to “56 Nights” run.

    • @jesuspernia8031
      @jesuspernia8031 6 месяцев назад +2

      I honestly think that album was just ok. A lot of the topics were hit on just a surface level. The only ones that really hit hard are the title track, Let Nas Down, She Knows, and Rich Niggaz. If he were to re-do it now he’d have done it way better. It’s my least favorite J. Cole album.

    • @drakejr8252
      @drakejr8252 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@jesuspernia8031I get you. I think his topics are still surface level. Many of the topics on born sinner were discussed in Mr. Mórale by Kendrick but much deeper. But being Cole’s second album, he spoke about some heavier things but and a much younger POV.
      Cole’s biggest flaw is acting like he knows the answer to everyone’s struggles, but Born Sinner was one of the only times he spoke like he didn’t know the answer.

      @@ElijahMCMalik Yeah, but everyone *loves* stillmatic. The consensus is that »I AM« is bad because he had to rework it very quickly (there was a leak) and he tried to be radio-friendly to win back money. stillmatic was considered his *comeback.* That's how bad »I AM« and »Nastradamus« were received. Jay-Z even used them to diss Nas' discography in »Take-over«. To be honest, Nas probably has one of the best discographies in Hip-Hop (even Fantano had to admit that in a video). He's not as consistent as Kendrick but he works faster. The lows in this discography aren't as low as people say and *stillmatic* and *god's son* were probably his »real« second prime … not the KD series. The KD series is actually Nas' *third prime.*

    i know it’s not really the question but i’m just going by the albums that holds a special place in my heart and i would literally die over.
    1)College Dropout-over the years i see people put yeezus,graduation,808’s,even Pablo ranked above dropout, but in my opinion it’s still kanye’s best album for me.
    2)Food & Liquor 1-lupe don’t think it’s a classic and i don’t even know if he would put it in top 3 albums of his not saying he doesn’t acknowledge it, but the influence that album haves on artists is insane from ab-soul,kid cudi,childish gambino,denzel curry,kids in the hall,linkin park alot of artists took cues from food & liquor😭
    3)Stankonia-My Fav Outkast album the production is insane and i think it’s a essential 2000’s album, i don’t think it’s better than ATLiens but it’s still a really good album❤️

    I honestly don't even know an album I'd pick for this. I wanna say a Three 6 Mafia album because I feel like hip hop purists think they're wack but there's a certain group of hip hop fans that regard the albums that I'd mention as classics or essential albums in the genre. So it's kind of weird, most of the ones that come to mind are from rappers that people think are horrible and therefore just think all of their albums are horrible, not a bad album from a great rapper. The State vs. Radric Davis by Gucci Mane comes to mind as well.
