Inclement weather forces a group of wealthy passengers, including a duchess, a movie mogul, and an Australian entrepreneur, to spend the night in the V.I.P. lounge of the London airport. As they get acquainted, they confront their various problems. Elizabeth Taylor stars in this insightful drama as an American wife about to leave her husband, Richard Burton, for her lover, Louis Jourdan. Also starring Maggie Smith, Orson Welles, and Rod Taylor. Margaret Rutherford received an Oscar for her supporting role as the troubled Duchess of Brighton.

That face, framed in anything, was always astounding. In "The Taming Of The Shrew," there's a scene where she's peeking through a hole in a window shutter. It takes your breath away ! She was pure, "Magic!"
I saw this movie in my country of birth in 1964, a year after it was premiered in the States. I have seen it through the years and always loved the work of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. I just loved it, Louis Jourdan handsome man , I like him best in Gigi than in his role in The V I P s ❤
Who could resist Burton with his marvelous voice? And a 'Christmas cracker' adds to this scene, too!

Покоряла души великанов.
Внутренне - доверчива и скромна.
Внешне - шум дворцового фонтана!
От спокойной нотки до надрыва -
То, была прилежною, то вздорной…
Феерична, сказочно красива! -
Утончённы женственные формы.
Будоража кровь, своей харизмой,
Обладая чувственным гипнозом -
То неслась кометою по жизни -
То цвела застенчивою розой:
Каравелла, средь рыбацких лодок;
Королева, средь простого люда;
Клеопатра! - Страстно, но с заботой
Источала женственность, повсюду!..
Жизнь впитав травинкой полевою,
Дух храня - с чудинкой ветра, птицей -

Why is this film as difficult/expensive to get as it is? It hasn't been on tv for years but I remember seeing seeing it so often on Sunday afternoons & Christmas etc. It's not even been on Talking Pictures TV UK. If anyone has it please please stick it on youtube ffs!
