However, I've always thought that I am too smart for my own good and I am likely overthinking it's possible meaning. I don't know. As an adult, I fall just short of a genius IQ score. At least, based on a test that measured 8 different areas of intelligence.

Thats because the large majority of communication is non-verbal meaning how someone reacts to something will likely tell you all you need to know about if they: fully understand the situation, are comfortable, are feeling a certain way about what’s happened etc... For example if you see a child react angrily towards an adult because they caught them doing something wrong, you can already gather that the child either does not know they did something wrong, or does know but cannot fully comprehend the situation and therefore react in a manner that they’ve previously seen or experienced.

I definitely wasn't a 'genius' - or even anywhere close - back then, and, even after years of life experience, I sure as heck aint one now. It has kinda been found though that people with low intelligence are more likely to overestimate their intelligence while people with high intelligence are more likely to doubt their intelligence since people with low intelligence don't understand how much they just don't know about various subjects as people with high intelligence who are more likely to be aware of that sort of thing. It also goes along with the dunning-kruger effect.

I scored 172 in the 11th grade MENSA back in '89, the school freaked the fuck out. Had people contacting my parents and teachers, one of my teachers got promoted to an academy, and my principal was always trying to talk me into going into some FOSHE program.
In truth I, like yourself, don't even feel like I have any special ability over anyone else. Sometimes I'm slower at arriving to answers or conclusions than my peers, other times I don't get the answer at all. Granted at some fields [like literally everyone on earth] I excel over others. I suck at mental maths, the only skill I have is being bilingual, knowing 4 different languages. Though I feel that is testament to my mothers innate desire to teach me languages as a child. I don't even remember learning most of the language capability I have, I can just understand and interchangeably speak the 4 languages. However that shouldn't make such a vast difference imo.
I don't really feel like those MENSA examinations are much more than an ego booster because I was definitely not the smartest guy in my school by a long shot, but the numbers said I was one of the smartest people to ever be born in my state. It can't be right.
      *Edit ; I fat-fingered a number.*

I have a story, when I first play badminton, I thought I was playing with a gay guy, then only to meet him again, I felt anxious.
not because he's smart, but maybe he likes me. I asked him and he giggled. he said he's straight. and next thing I fear is his
intelligence, genes, looks, charisma, luck, and laziness.
he never attended class sometimes and his trumpet is broken in his instrument class. yet he got away with high grades and
valid reasons. we we're close back then just to realize that we both differ in major things.
Unlike him, I can't even get a high grade with all the effort I put, he said,
don't make grades as a way of intellect, people are smart in their own way, maybe school isn't your type of thing, find what
makes you special in that thing and people would truly see how good you are even though your not giving your best.
those are not his exact words but he did say that grades are just to impress our parents. that's why he worries whenever his
      grades fall below 91.
Up until now, my family depends on supporting us with their virtues being feed to us. telling us that we should study harder
to be better. which for me is stupid, parents are never wrong but they will never know how we feel.
this is why some of us resort to social media. because we relate so much with what we do and what we have to share.
that are parents are giving things to us because they can't accept that we are different to what they want us to be.
If you are wondering why am I typing in a weird spacing. go to your laptop or PC, zoom out for 90% or more if your laptop
      or pc screen is small.

@@Diane_666 I would define stupidity by if a person does something stupid that does not benefit anyone or anything including their own mental health then its stupid. For example, a little boy playing with mud. Nothing wrong there until he starts eating it. If he gets sick, then it is a stupid act. BUT if it makes him happy, then what do we know. Or the other scenario, for some reason, it turns out eating mud is actually healthy, but we never know because as a society, we think it is stupid. Then as a society, we will never find out the benefit of eating mud. But if he is not happy about the outcome, then he should learn that eating mud is a stupid act.

"Intelligence is the desire, the willingness and the capacity to learn and to adapt. It is the desire and the willingness, which means you are willing to undergo the preparation, and the capacity, which means you are able to go through the preparation. This is a very great thing to consider. Here you must abandon many ideas you hold about yourself and the accomplishments and attributes of your race. Here you must go through a tremendous process of re-evaluation, part of which may seem very painful in the starkness of the recognition that you will have of your limitations.
In the Greater Community, the weak are overtaken by the strong, just as in your world. In your world, you have the distinct advantage of being the predominant species of intelligent life. You have undertaken to dominate the world, but in the Greater Community you would not be considered strong or advanced. This must give you a very sober view of yourself, but a view that can engender a desire for greater intelligence and perhaps even the willingness to undertake the preparation. Your capacity varies amongst you individually, but it is still relatively small. However, human beings are capable of achieving great things if the incentive, the desire and the freedom are all present. That is why a greater intelligence than your own is bestowing this preparation upon you and with it the understanding of its importance, its relevance to your time and its possible application in the future where it will be called upon again and again."

In short: this is indoctrinatory rubbish and has no place here, or in deed anywhere outside of a "Things to be wary of in UTub Comments! Important!!"
Nah, I'm going to take umbrage at this 1970's self-help crap. Intelligence is not "desire" - desire is just wanting stuff, and everything wants stuff; dogs want belly rubs, cats want thumbs. It is not "willingness" - that is just being malleable, something cult leaders have sort to inbreed for eons. The bit about 'the capacity to learn and adapt' is a fair point, but it runs up hard against innate abilities: a savant may not have the cap.2.l&a, and yet still batter hell out of a piano or accurately draw a street scene to a degree that boggles us mere mortals; which side of 'Intelligent' do they come down on? The next bit - 'The abandonment of self and the accomplishments & attributes of your race' (my race? so, 'Human', yeah?) - that's just deconstruction, and feeds back to the malleability issue. Bootcamp deconstructs recruits so they are ready for the new indoctrination, be it armed forces, religious, or corporate. And, sure, reflection is useful in advancing personal evolution, not denying that fact, but to dismiss the totality of human development and personal growth is just - well, let's keep it clean - wrong. And - "A greater intelligence than your own" - ... Boston Dynamics? [ruclips.net/video/fn3KWM1kuAw/видео.html] (take heart, mere mortals - the people who taught them how to do this can't actually do this irl)
In short: this is indoctrinatory rubbish and has no place here, or in deed anywhere outside of a "Things to be wary of in UTub Comments! Important!!"
Just one more thing: Do you honestly believe that anyone could believe that you could believe that you believed you passed a Turing test?

Language is always evolving. I read somewhere you can't really understand French culture without internalizing French verb conjugation. They have gone out of their way to limit that evolution.
English isn't centrally controlled. This has allowed a flexibility that is both its greatest strength and weakness. But I could instead phrase it as, "it's greatest asset, and its greatest flaw". The words are synonymous in context, but carry different connotation.
I submit meaning isn't where people disagree - it's the connotation. I like to say connotation is the "flavor" of a word - it tastes different to different people.
Big, large, huge, gargantuan, colossal, immense, enormous, vast... All have the same general meaning, but I can almost guarantee they evoke different ideas of what big is in every one of us.

Knowledge is only real, when shared.

it is the ability to think and it is linked to courage or the lack of it. It is a measure of how well you can exercise your consciousness. There are factors that augment it or diminish it. Being tired diminishes it, being emotionally stable augments it for example.

when it comes to the case of general intelligence and understanding I feel there's always hard immovable barriers preventing the next best idea which may be limited to a specific person. Nobody will ever know everything and it seems an individuals perspective makes the interpretation of data subjective as to say its a case by case basis. Let's say that I mainly struggle with math but have strong roots in science and the understanding of processes that lead to outcomes not projected by numbers or equations but by practical application of ideas; There will be the other side of the coin where math comes as a breeze and their hindrance lies in other subjects.
Then there's the issue of correctly relaying information which may make the interpretation unnecessarily difficult due to human error not bound by a person's capacity to learn. (bad teachers)

"If a nazi called to to tell me I did a great job..."
Thought policing and control. You're not that far off. In reality, they did have useful skills. I may not approve of their ethics. But "Hitler ate sugar" is a trope for a reason.
I am also interested in something else. You seem very derisive of the notion that intelligence might be a heritable trait or composed of several. Is there actual research to show this is not the case? Or is it merely "unapproved thought." Leaving aside for the moment the tendency for humans to favor themselves individually and possibly bias the tests, it is not unreasonable to suppose that aptitudes for skills are heritable. No one bats an eye if you note that athletic ability is heritable.

Intelligence may or may not be genetic, but I feel upbringing plays a role. If your parents insist on ignorance, despite having the capacity for intellectual honesty over willful ignorance, then you will likely be an ignorant shit as well, despite having the capacity otherwise.

Athletic ability/intelligence may be partially genetic at times but since there's no reliable metric to determine nature vs. nurture it's practically pointless to speculate even though it's obvious both contribute. And since the spectrum of intelligence/athletic ability isn't always widespread, it doesn't mean having the ability to do something makes it useful or ethical.
