We don’t say things like “consoles are for filthy casuals” and shit like that. And the way he always says things like “if you didn’t know x, then you must have just crawled out from under a rock”. Like bro I can tell you didn’t know half this shit before looking it up, you don’t have to act like you’re one of the cool kids and know everything already.

I think most people know that changing their crosshairs doesn’t actually do much but just switching things up creates a placebo when you start hitting shots
It's not just placebo, the mind notices and focuses on change, so for some people changing things up frequently can help maintain a high focus on the reticle and good aim habits.
1 year too late, but does this apply to skins too? When I changed my m4a1-s skin to something that I like, I was really surprised by how I was hitting some shots I wouldn't normally be able to do.
My favorite set up was from Overwatch, large circle with outwards pointing + and a dot in the middle. Straight lines to line up with terrain, circle to quickly center targets in close range and the dot for precision shots.
The fact that they missed 2 major games in the late 1990's. Quake released in 1996 and its subsequent releases and Unreal Tournament released in 1999. Both title's released on the pc. No... guys.. no... Quakeworld (Quake 1 multiplayer) had a number of adjustments to be made to the crosshair and it was on by default. Duke Nukem 3D had a bloody crosshair but little to no real adjustments. Both Quake 1 and Quake 2 had lively competitive gaming scenes, being the original games in CPL (Cyberathlete Professionals League)
I made a custom crosshair once, in like 2015, and I bound some buy commands to the number block at the same time. I haven’t changed that config ever since. It’s a dynamic crosshair, too, and people look at me like I’m a maniac whenever they see it. But I’m just used to it. Six years with the same crosshair will make any crosshair work.
This. Changing crosshair or changing sens by a bit forces your brain out of auto pilot and makes you focus more because the brain isn't in its comfort zone anymore. Tenz has said that he has changed his sens in-between games in bo3 series to help him focus more. Shroud and many other pro players have said similar things about crosshairs. Some people like ropz and elige can focus even without those helpers, but for most people, you could instantly feel the positive difference of changing your crosshair and going back and forth between your two favorite crosshairs.
I feel if I don't change it for a while it just starts to blend in with the game. So making a small adjustment, like 0.5 length or thickness can help it stand out a bit more.
I tried many kind of crosshair but at the end of the day, I have easier time to spray and tap on a dots crosshair with medium gap (basically the smallest value of crosshair length with slight gap). Granted it's not as good as dot or small crosshair in a long range shooting, but on medium range is super easy to heashot.

Aim Lab even added a sensitivity randomiser to help players practice this way.
