Part 3 of our 5-Day Backcountry Canoe Fishing Trip to Quetico Provincial Park
On our third day in Quetico we embark on an epic fishing day trip to an interior lake in Quetico and end up catching the canoe country grand slam! After scouting this previously unknown lake for a few hours, we get into a pocket of fish near the mouth of a river dumping into the main basin of the lake.
After weeding through a few medium-sized pike, we start to get into fantastic multi-species action (most notably a half-dozen or so trophy smallmouth) fishing a drop off to a flat area in about 25' that leads to the deepest water on the lake. It appears the fish are stacked and feeding off whatever is coming in, or out, of that river mouth.
I complete the Quetico canoe country grand slam with my incidental catch of the most beautiful lake trout I have ever seen. It is the darkest fish I have ever caught, by a long shot, colored up with the brightest orange fins I've ever seen on a trout. What a perfect day...just when we thought the Quetico fishing couldn't get any better...
You're livin the dream man! Keep the content coming.
It certainly feels like it! Thanks for watching!!
Love your videos, you've got me excited to for my BWCA trips this year.
Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing your trips. I really miss my wilderness trips, sure wish i could do it again!!
Thanks for watching! I've got a lot more coming so stay tuned!
Hey FarWater, I've been watching your videos for a while now and really enjoy them. I spent a few years in northern Minnesota when I was a kid and my family took multiple canoe trips to Quetico. We launched at Pickerel Lake and would hit Bisk, Rawn, and Art lakes, catching walleye, northerns, and smallies. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories. Anyway, thanks for recording your adventures - I've enjoyed watching you fish the north country.
Thank you for watching and sharing your love of Quetico! I hadn't visited the park until I moved up here in 2019 and I'm absolutely hooked (pun intended)! I've got a lot more Quetico content coming your way!
Should be illegal to have that much fun lol. Great stuff! Can't wait to watch part 4! That super dark laker was awesome looking!
We sure do have a blast on these canoe trips! I really enjoy sharing that joy with you all. As always thanks for watching!
So quetico is basically bwca Canada. Probably even more remote hu? Good stuff.
Exactly! Almost the same size geographically, but it gets less than 10% of the visitors the BW gets annually. It’s magical
Awesome videos! Love bwca! Ive been going every year for the past 20. Would love to see how your camp is set up, and cooking. Its always interesting how everyone has there one way of doing things.
Thank you for watching and thank you for the feedback! I plan on doing a lot more filming of "camp life" in the future. I got a really nice tripod I am excited to bring along and get more comfortable shooting footage with my main camera, rather than just the gopro footage from the boat. Here's a tutorial for how we cook our trout:

Awesome video! What's that contraption you're using to slow down drifting? Seems to work well
A simple drift sock designed for motorboats. This is the smallest size I could find-designed for motorboats 12-14’ in length. It has been a game changer for us, much more effective than an anchor and infinitely easier to use
@@therealfarwater I'll have to check that out, thank you!
@@TheTubemaster007 totally worth the $40. I got mine at fleet farm, I believe. Packs down small and doesn’t spook the fish like a traditional anchor.
Salut les "pogneurs de poisson" fish catchers. Witch apple do you use, i saw it is carbon bent , but witch brand and angle, tancks from Québec
Wenonah Blacklite Bent shaft
I checked the park regulations and you can photograph or video pictographs. However I figured out you don’t want to reveal your location.
Interesting…they’ve always told me not to photograph the pictographs when I pick up my permit at the ranger station
