The Samsung Galaxy S10 and S20 are similarly shaped phones, with similar prices at release. Now that the S10 is a year old however, the price has dropped dramatically, so with that in mind, which is the better phone to buy? Is the Galaxy S20 worth the upgrade, or are you better off saving a few hundred dollars and buying the S10 from last year? In this video, I will dive into the similarities and differences between these phones to help you decide on the right phone for you.

This time while all other major reveiewers were focusing galaxy ultra, you're the only one focused on regular S 20..! Thank you !
I think it's because of embargo.
It’s because samsung only handed out Ultras to everyone. Who, in this economic situation, would ever get an Ultra
I'm still chilling on my pixel 3. Phone never was a power house but I don't use it for anything crazy so it still works well for me. Waiting on Google to stop ducking up and getting their sh*t together.
@@AdmiralFroggy yeah, that pixel 4 battery and limited use case for radar suck
Ultra is not good as s20 plus is thanks
My two cents. S10 looks better, has 95% of the camera quality and costs 500$ dollars less. Great buy. I would only go to the s20 for that 120hz screen
Same, and the selfie camera is in a better place than the S20’s camera
120hz cannot be used at full resolution - half measures like that only end up frustrating me once the magic wears off (roughly 12 hours after unboxing). S10 is the clear winner imo
@@cheese99999 wrong they issued a software update so it can do 120hz at full resolution now
I think the screen and the front of the phone looks better but the back on the s10 looks better
@@hatchell18 This changes my opinion. I'm deciding between S20+ and Note 10+ - having a difficult time...
Just bought an S10 after watching this and saved myself loads of money over the S20!
Good choice man, budget wise, it's wiser to buy last year's flagship(given you want a flagship phone) since it'll still have most of what flagships offer, unless of course you want the latest and some new hardware and software features on the new ones.
Love my s10 ,its a great phone

Especially the s10 plus! That looks better in the side thank in the middle

Not upgrading my S10 to the S20. Still in love with my S10. It's still an amazing phone.
I've had my s8+ for years and it's still a beast of a phone
@@FearTheUnnKnown I second that, even though I have upgraded to the s10, because of my son needed a new phone, so I gave him my s8 and he loves it😉
True !!
god damn you rich people... i have my s4 now for 6 years and just now considering replacement, and you change then each year? :D
@@NostalgicMem0ries 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Three months ago I purchased my s10 and I'm more than satisfied with what it got to offer. My previous phone was an outdated windows, which didn't run any apps anymore and was six years old. For me it's a huge change and upgrade, I can really feel the difference between old generation and the new one. Conclusion- wait at least four years to feel any change otherwise it's not worth it. It's not a necessity to buy every year a new phone 🙄. Let's not forget who builds these phone and how unfriendly environmental they are.
Agreed, it is more satisfying to upgrade every 5 years or so and really feel a massive performance difference, then to spend obscene amounts of money every year and then spend the life of your contract trying to justify to everyone "but the screen is so much smoother, totally worth the extra $1,000."
Trust me I've just got the s20 and got rid of the s10 and it's exactly the same....plus the back of the s10 is better
Great mindset
My head: s10
My heart: s20
My wallet: "No."

U got job? Don hv credit? I changed my phone / laptop every two years.. not that expensive tho.. get 0% installment a year..
I think you are thinking the opposite of folk wisdom
Exactly! S20 already on a sale for 749$. Wait for next year and get it for 550$
I sincerely thank you, bro! Not many people are making review videos about the S20. All I see everywhere are S20 Ultras. I firmly believe that the smaller models are the ones we should be concentrating on. You seem to have put in a lot of time and effort into making these comparisons and I'm truly grateful.
Unless you use the phone for things other than messaging, social media and some gaming, it's pointless to upgrade.
Finally, a budget-minding comment hahaha totally agree
Rogers you're spot on!!
I use my phone exactly for that and I upgraded from s5 Neo to S10. Samsung's flagships have been a good and reliable purchase so far.
Honestly, after a heck ton of research, I think I'm going to upgrade from an S8 to an s10, rather than an s20. The s20's camera is only somewhat better, it has a little better battery, and some screen stuff, but none of that matters much to me. The s10 camera is still a huge upgrade for me, as well as the battery, screen, processors, everything. Not to mention I really don't want to spend 1k on a fricking phone for not even that much of an upgrade from a drastically cheaper model.
Edit: when I contacted my cell provider, they couldn't get the s10, so they gave me the s20 for the same price, and I couldn't be happier 😁
I have the s10. If you havent bought it already and need to ask questions I can help
@@marnickbar4794 deciding between s10 and S20. Is the fingerprint reader really hit and miss and do you have issues with accidentally pressing the sides of the screen on the edge?
@@rachymarie I also went from the S8 to S10. The fingerprint sensor isn't a hit or miss but it could definitely be a bit faster. But I've recently discovered a trick to turn off battery optimization on the sensor and it is definitely more responsive now. How you install your screen protector will also be a factor, whitestone dome is definitely the way to go. As for accidental touches, it only happens from time to time when I'm lying in bed watching RUclips clips holding it with one hand.
The main thing that cought my attention with the s20 and one of the main reasons why I picked it over the S10 was that it doesn't have a bixby button. I truckin hate that bixby button!
@@djbrown3186 Its really not that bad. It's actually usefull because you can just download bxremapper (no root or anything crazy) and disable bixby and choose google which i did now. I remapped one press is open ... 2 presses is open ... en press and hold for google, double press hold for do not disturb. So bixby is non existent now
This is literally the EXACT vid I was looking for. I want to buy a new phone soon and I can't decide. I think I'm gonna go for the S10. Thank you SO MUCH!!
Like the S20 but can't afford to spend 1k? Don't worry, wait a year and it will be 50% off! Like every year...
But then you'd like the S21 and have to wait another year without getting a phone

sheesh i managed to score a used s10 for 220 dollars. you spent hella more.
people should start using and adopting the samsung dex feature. Use your s10 to its fullest potential
You forgot to mention that the S20 camera sensors are larger, therefore, the pixels are also larger, which means better low light performance regardless of the narrower aperture
Yes! I meant to include that in the video. That's an excellent point
@@MikeOBrienMedia Also, the S20's drop the dual aperture system as well.
@@dheerajsp is that good or bad?
@@e5m956 Don't think it's bad cos the S20 has a larger sensor. So low light photos should be better regardless.

Great video! I've had the S10 for a year or so, and I'm tempted by the S20 lol. I like the narrower width, but I'm a bit turned off by the added height. I already found the S10 to be a bit too tall so for the S20 to be even taller is a bit of a turn off.
I kind of like the hole punch on the right, it's less distracting IMO. But I don't mind the center one on the S20 due to how small it is.
Really hate the back design though, the S10's was so clean and matured in comparison.
S10 design is much better in my opinion
The camera design of the S10 looks more iconic and original.
I gotta say, the new S20 line looks amazing but I'm still extremely happy with my S10e, I bought it when it first came out and it's still a beast of a phone, I think it was very underrated outside of people into tech, it has great features so for me there's no good reason to upgrade yet.
David S battery life was not good at all. I sold it quick for a S10 plus then a note 10 plus and now an iPhone 11 pro
This video just made me love my S10 more. Thank you! Also, thanks for making a REAL comparison of the regular S10 and S20. No clickbait, just straightforward realness. 💯💯💯
Hm , think I'll save and stick with my s10 for now it's still got more than I need , see what happens for the next few months then see what Samsung's got . Great video !
Nah, I'm keeping my S10+? If you ask me the S10+ is one of the best phones Samsung ever produced. Sure, the cameras, maybe better, the 120hz display. But my 60hz looks wonderful to me. Plus I still enjoy the jack? Very good in depth review!
I think the S10 looks better. On the S20, the back glass curve and the front glass curve aren't equal like on the S10 and makes it look kinda weird to me.
Joshua September s20 is prettier
Yes, S10 looks better with camera in the middle. You saw it and immediately knew it was S10. S20 has so boring and uninspiring design... 😔

About the expandable storage: I'm pretty sure the S10 will take whatever size the future gives us just fine.
My old galaxy tab 4 is rated up to 32gb microSD but it takes my 128gb card just fine, so this is most likely just because they're quoting the biggest size available at launch.
🤓'Oh she'll take it'... couldn't resist some solid Southpark satire😬
*UPDATE: It appears I accidentally switched the labels on the 120Hz and 60Hz slow motion clips. Sorry about that!*
So which of these phones do you like best?
The s20 plus really caught my eye
Are you SURE about the fact that the S10 is not compatible with 1TB memory card?
phew i thought my eyes died on me
S10 users don't need to upgrade to s20, don't underplay the strength of the S10.. snapdragon 855 is over capable in 2020... If u have an s8 or s9 then upgrade to s20. If you have an S10 there's really no reason to upgrade to s20... As you said yourself in some categories the S10 is even better than the s20.
@@gameboiwavetv901 you're right.. Snapdragon 865 may be more powerful than 855, but my own S10, powered by the latter, is able to run a GameCube emulator @60fps. Even better than the GameCube itself.
Why do people need all that power for casual use? Instagram/FB/internet browsing?
Lol
I think the S10 looks better. It's the perfect size since large phones are in and it's wider so I can view more. Not to mention cheaper which is a plus, the camera on the back of the S 20 looks odd to me.
I just got my s20 a few days ago and came to realize my old s10 was the last model to support gear VR also. Sucks....... supposedly there no longer partners with Oculus
If you are into vr i'd recommend just getting the quest. I didn't know the 20 didn't support gear vr I use mine with my s10 but probably upgrade to quest soon since its mobile
What?! No support for Gear VR ??? No review mentioned that! Wow.
Haha. What a shame. Go back to the better phone then. Youve downgraded sooo bad in many ways to list
You dont even have an aux port. What a downgrade it is to to make the mistake of gettin an S20
What is VR again? I just ordered the s20, currently have the s10. Feel like I made a mistake and haven't even received the phone yet.
I use the regular Galaxy S10 as my daily driver in Prism Black, what a phone 👌
What do you think about battery life? I have tested both S10 and S20 for the past few months, taking them both on trips. I have noticed tho that the battery in S20, although bigger, drops quicker. I was only using it for checking maps from time to time and sometimes Social Media, but not at an alarming scale, and 1 charge was not enough to keep me a full day. With the S10 I haven't encountered such a drop in battery.
There are minor differences. S20 is better.
Bought my S10 a year ago and going 2 years on May next year. Still the best upgrade I've had since my Galaxy Win (which lasted me 7 years). Still in love with it and still happy with its performance. I'll just wait for 5G to be mainstreamed so future flagship phones will incorporate it on their cheaper versions before I upgrade. For me, that's the only deciding factor.
I see no difference in the cameras! I'll keep my S10 plus and wait for the note or wait for the S21 for the new design!
I am very excited to see what the Note20 will look like!
It'll probs be s30

Mish Ford it could be a hardware thing. To have better performance, the headphone jack needed to be removed. And they made adjustments like having an attachment for the headphones, or Bluetooth. But yeah they should be making headphone jacks for those who wants that.
A lot of people that can afford these newer flagship phones have Bluetooth headphones anyway and removing the headphone jack leaves room for things like bigger batteries
@@kaykay1kc I hope so but I doubt it...
@@novak.r Not everybody buys a new phone by paying the full price front on. Alot of people do payments. And some people buy the newer phones when they are 1-2 years old. the Benefit of removing the headphone jack does not outweigh the cons. Youth and time on his side, and seems intelligent, so he could work to reverse it. But for the ladies, health is important. He looks like too much computer time, no outdoor manly time. The back of his pant knees are probably worn through by wiggling in a chair, rather than the front of his pant knees worn out by actual physical manly work. Other than that, he seems a cool dude, no doubt a hard worker at what he does. Probably doesn't appreciate McDonald and Giles (King Crimson) or Carlos Santana, but he probably 420's a bit. Who's still rocking s10 in 2022?
Me
Man, the S20 is just a hair away from being peak Samsung design in my opinion, that being NO HEADPHONE JACK 😑
Starting with the S21-current they've been cheapening the processor performance and lowering the resolution.
The only other Samsung design that peaks imo is the S5, user removable battery, expandable storage, IP67, etc.
making the phone narrow and longer just wastes space, you see more when it's wider
Agreed. 19;9 is perfect
but less scrolling when is longer..
Somewhat of personal pref..
Been fretting / enjoying both the s20 along w/my LG7 & actually quite prefer the slightly wider screen which is comparable to S10+👌
...Several newer sophisticated features on S20 are indeed very cool, & bit faster, but I continue to truly prefer a bit larger / wider screen, as well as volume buttons on left rather than same side as power, which also makes screenshots WAY easier...
All fairly trivial stuff, but really very relevant☯️
S10: 3.5mm, Heartrate sensor, no rocking phone, fast, lighter
S20: Removed features, rocking phone, heavier, AND MOVED FRONT CAMERA...WOW!!!

Thanks for making this. Was on the fence between them, but the S20 is currently only $200 more than the S10 so I went with it for the potential additional year of support/camera (and maybe 5g support if it comes to my area)

I have an s10 and i just relaized i can open the camera by double clicking the power key 😂
Can do the same on s9 also
S10 / volume buttons on the left side of the phone, power button on the right, for screen shots it's so natural. Camera location and heart rate sensor is right where you need it, I love the placement of the front camera, in the right corner, I find in landscape mode with or without wide angle its great, also at times I use the self camera to view plugs and wires in cars and again the placement is perfect for this. Heart rate pulse scanner, on the S10 it's away from the camera lens, it has its own sensor and the tourch comes on automatically when you start the sensor. Being on the left side of the camera section it is very natural to use my index finger holding the phone with my left hand. Camera front and back are amazing, video is amazing, stabilisation is very good.
S20 / the heart rate pulse sensor is inside the main camera lens, resulting in touching the camera lens to use, clever but not ideal. Also its the right side of the camera area, giving my index finger on my left hand a long reach. Occasionally I find the S20 lags, mainly when waking the phone up with a quick press of the power key (which is lush they allow the user to remap the bixby button within settings). Quick press to wake, then slide up, put in the code and it wakes, at times I find there to be a slight lag. The S10 never ever does this. Both phones are up to date with software, the S10 if 80% memory full and the S20 80 % memory free, so you'd think the S10 should lag. But it doesn't and never has. I really can't tell between the camera quality. Both phones cameras and videos are very good. Music player sounds very similar if anything the S20 has a little more mid range making for clearer vocals but it's a very small difference. Screen colour replication is again nearly too close to tell any difference, both phones are set exactly the same in the settings. There's one and only one big difference between them, the S10 feels way better with everyday use, where i find I'm more nervous with the S20 because it cost alot more. Samsung could have kept support for the S10 as its more than capable of running the newer version of software. Between the two phones I'd take the S10 even now in 2024. There's one thing I'm yet to try is data signal on both phones at the same time in the same location.
Oh one last thing is the RUclips player, on the S10 it does this thing where it the thin black area either side of the video in landscape mode changes colour depending on the colours in the video, the S20 doesn't seem to do this, I've got the ambient feature turned on but it's just black, I know it sounds like a small criticism but it makes a big difference when watching videos on the phone.
5:08 someone know where I can download this live wallpaper? I would be grateful:)
Great explanation of both phones!!! Recently broke my S10 phone (already had cracked screen and when I dropped it, it busted for real) so I upgraded to a S20. Definitely worth it😁
S20+ vs s10+
S20 ultra vs s10+ 5g
Those are their true predecessors. Idk why they aren't being compared
@SynthIIll Gaming no they haven't they are only comparing the s20 ultra to the iPhone
@SynthIIll Gaming I'm not talking about him
For those considering either s10+ or s20
S20 lost me at not having a aux port due to when I'm driving in my car I use the auxiliary cable for my head unit to listen to Amazon music
Dont know y the s10 looks like the neweer phone
No, it doesn't.
@@viperro4542 no bro in my opinion s10 looks better.....but ur point is also right😊
At the back s10 looks better but at the front s20 camera is smaller than s10 camera and it looks more futuristic
This should make more people buy the S10, as they are not missing much and gaining some.
Tigerex966 is all about preference i like the s10 better it looks better imo . & is cheaper
At 4:08 in the video..To me the s10 screen looks wider, the s20 screen looks more narrower and skinny and basic like the samsung A series mid range line up cell phones not different at all..Honestly I hate the hole punch camera on the display , on both phones ,wish it was all screen display like the oneplus 7 pro,,, hopefully the galaxy s21 finally has no curved edges it's an All screen edge to edge ,flat display with a water proof pop up front facing camera bring back the headphone jack and is wide as the s10. I think I prefer the s10 wider screen right now the punch hole camera on the corner just seems better and more premium. It doesn't look like every A series galaxy mis range phone.. The ,a51,A71,a70,s20 honestly look the same.
I'm going from an S8 to S10. Bought NEW unlocked from Samsung for $450 (+tx). Tried the S10 on AT&T for a few days and while I liked the phone overall, it had problems sending and receiving MMS pics. Research I did showed it was an AT&T issue. Went back to Verizon and to the S10 based mostly on the current value/price. S10 has everything I need for now and I'll wait for Gen 2 5G handsets. And now I'm reading that the S20 on Verizon doesn't have expandable memory!! Deal breaker for me.
When Samsung announced the price of 999.99 for the s20 my heart broke, I had budgeted for 800 and I really couldn't afford to go higher. Ifound a brand new s10 for 489 on Ebay so I jumped at it. I am aware of the s 20's betterness but I couldn't stand my s7 much longer so compared to that, I am more than satisfied
I love my S10, buy a S20 6 months late S21. The revolving door of money 💰 for the next cell phone 🥕 carrot stick
Mike I had the s20 and s20+ from my s10+. People are insane to buy the s20 as it is far too expensive. The s10+ is Samsung's best phone to date.
S10+ I will keep with my headphone jack
personally i much prefer the look of the galaxy s10, and i plan on keeping mine for as long as im able to, its a nicer built phone with 90% of the specs compared to the s20. i dont mind the 60hz screen either
Watching it on my S20+. 😎
Nice! Enjoy your new phone!
What about battery life bro? Is exynos or snapdragon version
@@adelioskampos8090 Yes exynos. Battery performance is better then expected. I am heavy user and no issues with battery using 120 frames.
@@suthardhaval9 great! thx for replying, any idea about screen on time,? No heat 🔥? Thank you for your help
Adelios Kampos what is screen on time? I haven’t played games but during usage I never felt heat. It’s slightly heated when OS got update but it’s normal.
s10e user here .. we got the update .. awesome stuff !!
For me the 120 HZ refresh rate is the only REAL upgrade
I Mean no one talks about this but screen brightness is like double...
And the cameras. Also the selfie camera can do 4k 60fps now instead of just 30fps. Also the added ram, 5g support so it's more futureproof
Best review. Structured and feature rich and great visuals for support , not focusing on the presenter but rather on the product.
The S20 is still a no go to me until they launch a 512GB version. Anyone knows if Samsung may do it?
Thanks! I am glad you liked the video structure. I really appreciate the positive feedback :)
I'm gonna get me an S20 this summer, the prices of these phones drop really fast, but then again unlike the iphone the s20 looks cheap af
I was just about to buy it but it looks like a cheap A50
i have been looking for a s20 s10 comparison for agess thankyou so much
Watching this in Lock down here in the UK. Very informative and straight to the point. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Hope you are staying safe and healthy
I'm keeping my S10+ for now. Excellent video!
