This is actually a 1983 commercial and the main capri used is a crimson cat which was only available in 1983. Another give away is the 4 speed which was phased out around feb of 1983 and replaced by the Borg warner T-5. Very neat commercial, thanks for posting & sharing.
My aunt used to have one of these but only the V6. She loved it. Everyone did. Unfortunately she and her husband replaced it with...a FIERO for some reason. Yuck.
I had a 1984 Capri without the optional engine as advertised here. That car had NO power. I had to floor it to go up a small hill. Other than that, I thought the car was attractive.
Mustang rip off, but because it was made by Mercury which was a subdivison of Ford, and it had the 5.0 if you couldnt afford the pony this would do you right and hell you could always put a Mustang Emblem on it and only die hards would know.
What ? if you couldn't afford the pony ? The mercury cost more than the mustang that's why sales where down for the Capri. As far as the bubble back go's that's what made the car. Capri Rs was mean looking compared to the Mustang. Just have a look at mine!!
Love yours! I have a black on black 83 rs, only options are sport interior and the t-5. Not really stock anymore, has the 84 airdam and mods. It's like a pissed off looking mustang with curves
Mercury is the step up from Ford. After Mercury it goes to Lincoln. I'd much rather have a Merc than a Mustang. Mustangs tend to give you a bad image of being in a mid-life crisis, which is unfortunate because they're fun cars.

It was a Ford Mustang dressed up. Still it was cute and a sweet ride in the 1980s.
This moved me in a powerful mew way!
Essentially, a rebadged Ford Mustang 🐎
I wasn't crazy about that bubble glass hatchback (1983-1986)! I prefer the 1979-1982 models!
Well I love the bubble back 😜😜😜
That is actually a sexy car!
Retro love
Commercial for the 1984 Mercury Capri
