Hematology - Complete Blood Count (CBC) - Critical Care Labs
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 авг 2024
- In this last lesson in our critical care labs series, we take a look at our collection of hematology studies that are included in the complete blood count or CBC. This is another very common test in the ICU for our critically ill patients and gives us a lot of useful information to try and help diagnose and treat our patients. Understand their purpose, normal and abnormal values, and what would lead to high or low levels of specific tests is imperative in the ICU. Hopefully I am able to help break this information down for you.

Such a great teaching..... Study stuffs are totally valuable... Thank you so much.
LUCKY that I came across this video 😊it's specified and informative,Currently a fourth year Medical Technology student here🥰
Really glad you found it helpful!
Very informative and with plain discussion. Thank you very well done and understanding.
Glad you found it helpful!
Very useful information for anyone interpreting CBC. Thank you.One comment: PLT goes down and is significant in Dx of Dengue fever and is also a marker of recovery when returns to normal. Patients with Dengue fever need admission and daily monitoring of PLT for bleeding. Severe cases need ICU admission.
Thank you and thank you for sharing! I can honestly say, I have zero personal experience with Dengue fever so I appreciate the information!
@@ICUAdvantage Welcome.

So happy to hear that I was able to help!
Very nice knowledge you share for us sir...❤
Excellent presentation, you are very gifted in synthesizing material and presenting it an understandable and precise format. Perhaps a little fast to take down notes.

Excellent, very helpful. One question, are there any conditions causing decreased monocytes?
I think yes , like high level of stress and viral infection , but you could confirm from other sources
Thank you!
You're welcome Becky!
Thank you!!!!!!!
You are very welcome! :)
I learned something new about the MCHC and MCV
Yay! Always great to hear this. I always enjoying finding something new to learn about and happy you were able to get something out of this video!
Bruh very helpful.
Great vid!
Thank you!
Awesome information
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you
Welcome!
Am enjoying everything here
Really happy to hear this!
Thank you for including the disorders. When I was a student the most important piece of this medical puzzle is why. Why are we learning lab values and what do we do next? Thank you.
❤
Suggestion: a better way of defining hematocrit is "the percentage of RBCs that make up a volume of blood." Hence why over-hydration leads to hemodilution. The definition in the video implies hematocrit is a ratio between RBCs and other blood cells.
Very valid point! Thank you!
Will you kindly talk about cardiac assessment and cardiac sounds, I still find them tricky to differentiate with stethoscope
Yeah I've though about doing this, and lung sounds as well. Trying to think how to best do it, but great suggestion. Let me think on it all more.
@@ICUAdvantage ❤❤❤
@Reed Rene why would you comment that here!!!!!!
This was a great video. I'm going through some issues now but it's not pinpointed through the CBC or any other blood test. My platelet count is high due to spleen removal. Will this go back to normal?
you need a trans cutaneous spleenotomy dissection stat
Do you have a good suggestion for a book on labs?
Awesome
Yay!
What about a decrease in monocytes?
Why don't Nucleated RBC's get any attention when it comes to CBC tests?
Which parameters does covid affect?
Your video is awesome.
Thank you Jean!
@@ICUAdvantage I'm a respiratory therapist by trade and I'm currently in nursing school. I love to watch medical videos like yours. It opens my mind as a health care professional. Thanks!!!!
@@jeangeraldgilles1409 Thats awesome! You will bring so much to your nursing practice coming from the respiratory world. Wishing you all the best and happy to be able to help in the learning process in any way I can!
awesome
Thank you!
Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ keep it up pls
Thank you so much. I will!
Dumb question... if the Hgb is inside of the RBC or is a component of the RBC, how do laboratory scientists isolate it? How is it measured separately from RBCs?
what causes high MID
Can't read the medications for Hematocrit...it's blurry...
Can you talk about Intubation procedures too thank you again
That is also on the todo list! Stay tuned.
Kindly anyone explain about my research topics study of hematological and biochemical changes in measles patient plzzz explain that topic??
Super class sir thank you so much sir 😻
You are very welcome Shree! ❤️
You are amazing!, Thank you very much. Will you pin you references?
Thank you! Honestly I pull from several different resources and some personal knowledge depending on the topic so I never really take the time to put together references. Ultimately I want these videos to be starting points for understanding and not necessarily a reference for practice, if that makes sense?
@@ICUAdvantage it does, thank you for the great effort you put into these videos..all your hard work appreciated ❤
Please sir bato sir Meri eyes ka saman andhar chaya jata hai please sir bato yeh Kon si bimari ha ma Kon sa blood test karu jo is bimari ka Pata chal jaye please sir bato
Good
Thanks
Can a complete blood count result determine a blood type? How?
Nope, you need to order a Blood Type test.

Any new merch?
I should really work on getting some more up!
VITAMIN K: NECESSARY FOR NORMAL PROTHROMBIN ACTIVITY.
Really nice video as always, but please delete that intro music.
Great content, nice resume of the literature. Just that dubstep-ish intro kills the mood; is this a med-edu or a 1337skillz gameplay youtube channel? I dunno, imo having to skip 50 seconds every video due to the insane dB change is relatively annoying (I mostly just listen to the vids). Goodstuff tho
Sorry to hear that you don't like the intro. It took a lot of work to make it and I'm quite happy with how it came out. Unfortunately, it's not for everyone.
Thank you
You're welcome
