Tim, great to see you making content again. I hope you are doing well. E36 does it for me. Love this one though.
Cars are so subjective. I was driving the Alfa 155 I recently imported and to be honest most people (even enthusiasts) would probably drive and call it slow or cheap trash. 🤣. It’s funny because I can SEE the truth in that and still love it. I had a Daytona Violet E36 and really liked it. I remember the first time I saw the E36 M3 in person, I was star struck. It was a Dakar Yellow 95 and I would still like to have one of those. Dynamically the E46 monsters it and for me , at least right now , is the better car. That being said, I think the E39 is the magic sauce of M cars. The e30 is raw and lovely but that e39 M5 is just so impossibly good. That it looks pretty much like every other 5 series and drives like a ‘Ring King is the most ///M thing ever imho. Thanks so much for watching!
Actually very much in agreement with you on this, we DO love the e30 and e36 MR3s but these e46s really checked all the boxes. The styling is SO good, the proper amount of aggressive and classy European styling and makes just enough power to be fun but not crazy or scary.

E46 isn’t the fastest by any means but a true drivers car with solid acceleration, great handling and stunning timeless looks! One of the best , if not the best M cars ever produced

Loved this! But as you point out, the step from E36 M3 to E46 was only 20hp outside America, but the body was unique which to many really did it aswell as being more rounded or organic.
Budget alternative: Z4M Coupe. Basically a E46 M3 CS under the skin, cheaper, lighter and more rare. And manual only!

Wonderful video. I'm in process of buying my 4th BMW but first M car. Narrowed it down to e92m3 or e46m3.
Drive them both. Personally I prefer the E46 but e92 are in a sweet spot depreciation wise. Thanks for watching! Cheers!

@@michaelbyers955 I would almost prefer an M3 with a dct IF it has had good service . It is light years ahead of the SMG and actually makes serious sense if the occasional track day is in the cards
E46m is too rounded and bloaty in the looks dept for me. I actually prefer the 330i looks if I had to choose.
The s54 is nice tho(once you address the reliability issues ).
