The macroalgaes really adds to that tank. With that size tank and those corals with the algae patches, it truly looks like a slice of the ocean, and not an artificial biotope. It must look amazing and tantalizing in person! :D And thanks, I now feel motivated to changed my DI resin!
I love this maintenance videos and appreciate all the great info they contain. Just a small sugestion if you'll allow: please post a link with previous videos of the same tank in the description so we can easily follow it's progress. I thought I watched all of your videos but I don't remeber this tank and it is a bit difficult to find the previous videos of it in your list. Thanks in advance :) Yeah... I'm a geek.. I know... 😂
Okay, that skimmer cup looked big when it was on the skimmer body but holy smokes - when you carried it across to the sink was when it was obvious how MASSIVE it is! 😳 Such a gorgeous setup! 👍🏻👍🏻
My hero ! You approach your work (and your clients) pretty much like I do. I service cold storage warehouse and supermarket refrigeration equipment. Keep up the great work, Mr Cam. You are an inspiration to many. Thank you for filming & posting each one. You have children?
Another great video Cam, with great content and full of great features on the support system for that huge tank, always look forward to Aquatica tv videos. 👍🏴
Spot on as usuall. True, that skimmer is a beast. That montipora definitely suffered being upside down, hope it makes a full recovery. Oh i ordered. A echo tech radion gen 4, feels like I saved up for ever.lol. got the echo reef link as well. Moving up in the hobby. Hope its simple to hook up. Keep on rocking. 👍👍👍👍
I have 2 big DI units at work (not aquarium) that take 100L of media each. We more or less fill them the same way. Id suggest going with your thaughts and use a big funnel with the biggest neck that will fit in the opening as it will flow through it ok. We buy Amberlite MB20 in 25L bags which works out at a reasonable price. I use the mb20 in the rodi unit for my tank at home with no problems. When storing resin keep the bag sealed so it doesn't dry out and be carefulll if you spill lots on the ground, its like walking on ice 🎿🎿. Great vid once again 🍻
careful with those flippers mate mine did a nice deep scratch in my old display .. try tunze care .. they are much more friendlier on the glass I find never had a scratch yet
Great content and good work! Do you think turtle grass could grow like a carpet does in a FW system. Thinking of trying to do something with the glass on my bare bottom setup!
AusReef Guy I was thinking about that. I’m concerned I won’t be able to control it or it’ll get all over the clam and things on the ground. If I can elevate a few things up a bit it may work. Seen it on inappropriate reefers videos looked very cool!
@@natalbreefing5934 yeah mate it is very cool id go for it personally, you'd have tons of frags to trade to the lfs lol, even a nice entrusting montipora ? slower/harder to grow but less risk of it getting out of hand .. I've seen a few tanks with entrusting montis as a base looks totally wicked
That resin was revolting man! Must have felt so great to see that TDS back to zero. Curious if that’s why that halomeda macro and turtle grass was flourishing.
The high TDS of the top-up water has only been a problem for a short time. I’m not really sure why the halimeda and Turtle-Grass do so well in this tank, but I’m sure they both contribute to nutrient control in the system as both nitrate and phosphate are normally very low. Cam
Yes, it totally does. As does the huge clam. The tank in general has a high consumption of calcium and kh, but the reason why the levels were low was that the calcium reactor ran out of CO2 and we took a few days to get it working again. Cam
Yeah I regret not explaining this. The sink actually just dumps straight into an open drain in the car park, so any skimmer waste sits in the drain stinking until we flush water through. Cam
@@GalleryAquaticaTV just an idea . Rock on y'all doing great things with these tanks. If you ever get to the U.S. let me know and I'll show you how we do things here in Texas.... Lol.... I love your channel
I have the same DI system, I never replace the resin, i clean it. there's 2 different resins, one really acidic and one really alkaline. One is cleaned with sodium, the other with hydrochloric acid. be carefull when handling the resin, you should use gloves and safety glasses
@@GalleryAquaticaTV I only know 1 good instructional video on how to recharge the resins, but its in dutch (I'm belgian): ruclips.net/video/0YBJaMNbrWc/видео.html maybe you know someone who speaks dutch who wants to translate for you :)

That’s a great idea, I’ll endeavour to do exactly that. Cam
traian boala there’s a playlist with all the EPIC tanks episodes, this one is Epic tank #3. I fully agree with the link idea but hope this helpsZ
@@coraladdict5059 Thank you very much. I'll watch it now. :)

Always great to watch!!!
Thanks Neil, we appreciate the great feedback😊
I like how you cut the filter pad on nice tiles and not on the concrete floor in the filter room lol.

Thanks Gabriel, I’ve just been informed that we found a funnel in the filter room, so I had the perfect solution there all along😂 Cam

It would be difficult. It’s hard to grow in general, and I don’t think it’ll attach to glass. Cam
Gallery Aquatica TV thanks for getting back to me! 👍🏾
what about green star polyp mat on bottom glass that'd look sweet

Doesn't that halimedia suck up calcium & alkalinity? Could explain why those levels are low, that thing is huge.

What was the TDS beforehand out of curiosity?
Oh god, I don’t want to say, it was really bad...
Why can't you run the waste line from the skimmer to the drain for the sink
Yeah I regret not explaining this. The sink actually just dumps straight into an open drain in the car park, so any skimmer waste sits in the drain stinking until we flush water through. Cam

What is low? ) I mean Kh and Ca
The KH was 5 and the calcium 360😩
I could do with a few of those hydras :)
Yeah, they have 14, you’d think they could spare a few right?😂
10 seconds in....and holy $hit

I know right? Crazy that the skimmer cup is bigger than the sink😂
