Good Morning (from NYC!) - After watching your entire video and cringing with horror at the NHS failure to listen to you---their patient---I suddenly had a memory of an unusually GOOD experience with a Gynecologist, here in NYC, where I live. In 1984, soon after I returned from living in London for 13 years, I was referred, along with my twin sister, for a mammogram (long overdue), at a quiet one-doctor practice in the middle of the city. The woman's practice was for women's illnesses only, and she had a lovely office. She accepted our insurance plans (private insurance policies a MUST over here)----and it was like going to a lovely private practice. After thorough examinations, Alice, my sister, and I were getting dressed and ready to leave---when she suddenly came out to see us and needed to examine Alice again. She had found these ''spots' all over Alice's mammogram scan!!! :-0 We were quickly looking at the scan with the doc, when she immediately asked Alice, "First of all, " did you use talcum powder this morning over your breasts'??" To which Alice said "Yes---I always use powder after a shower.". Well---the doctor was so relieved and told us how talcum causes all these 'dots', which appear not unlike cancer warnings!!! She was a wonderful doctor--but I was never sent to her again through the 'system'! Alice and I were lucky enough to be from a family with no cancer on either side. (Instead, we have heart worries and diabetes in some members!)--and with caner hitting one in three people over here, we've been so happy for the genetics we inherited. My mother and father had luckily stressed to the 3 of us children that, in life, we needed to be 'pleasant and polite--but assertive and unafraid' to question a doctor's decision. I am not a naturally 'assertive' person--but I learned how in NYC, my home city, that the over-worked doctors here NEED to be closely 'monitored' and you needed to speak up of if you wanted to raise any objections. It's never been easy for me---but I've learned to grit my teeth and do it! :-0 So often, a doctor will not have listened carefully to what I've explained to her--a common problem in our overcrowded health system. I often have to repeat what I've said and be certain my doc heard me! I was so frustrated, watching your video, that you HAD stressed to your doctors that you NEEDED a smear-----and they still brushed you aside so many times. How I wish you could just take back time---and redo those visits. :-( I am very upset for you----and will continue to watch your channel. I wish you a medical MIRACLE.......and hope that you are not in much discomfort or pain. Make certain you have enough pain meds!!
