thanks for the tips! idk why but when i listen to your video with headphones on your music plays on one side and your voice is on the other side, idk what it is but wanted to bring it up
Thank you for watching! I had some mic issues in my earlier videos. I never knew it was happening because I edit and rewatch on speaker lol . But thanks for letting me know and commenting.

I'm starting to look at apartments and I just gotta say, out of all the videos I've seen on the topic yours is definitely one of the best I've seen yet. You cover a lot of lowkey CRUCIAL topics and concerns that others either gloss over or just forgot about completely. Thanks for your help, God bless ♥
Thank you so much . So glad I was able to help! Make sure to take notes or save the video for when you go on your tours. Wishing you all the luck with finding a apartment .
@@AminahOjereHey Aminah happy holidays 🎉 Have u made any videos on how to get a nice apartment with bad credit. I use to have great credit but the 2019 covid strain had a devastating effect on my health and took me out of commission for months and thus why my C-score fell to hell.
I moved to my first apartment in another city at 18 and I didn’t go see the apartment before I moved in🥲 The neighbourhood was horrible and my place was soo small and it was super difficult to move around without a car. However, it was still a good decision to start my adult life on my own in a new place. Like 9 months later I ended up getting a new apartment (that I went to actually check) in a great neighbourhood that’s almost twice the size with just 30€ more. True luck right there.
Thank you for sharing! This will definitely help someone to be a bit more cautious when looking for their first apartment. I am glad that you were able to find something better later on.
Thank you ! Bringing up renters insurance is so important and I definitely would have skipped over that… looking for a place in Florida right now I have to be asking what damage they got from the storm too 😭😭. I don’t trust places with carpet after the flooding we had
Yes please ask especially if your looking in a area where the hurricane hit directly. And carpet is a big no no. Not unless they a. Replace it for you or b. When possible get it professionally cleaned/rent a deep clean vacuum. But most places at least the bedroom will have carpet smh. Good luck with your search !
How do I politely find out if they have bedbugs or roaches? Because both of those are immediate dealbreakers and I feel like most apartments will probably try to hide it if they have them
It would be difficult to tell if the apartment is empty but look at the management office, hallways and walls. Is there chipped paint? Stains on the walls? Water stains from water damage? Damp wood equals pest/worst mold. Are there pest traps in the empty apartment or surrounding halls? (This is a thing). Do you see black specs in the cupboards of the apartment or dead bugs/roaches? Is the empty apartment dirty ? Dusty? Vacant for over 6 months? Old/chipped wooden cabinets in the kitchen or bathroom? I’m not sure about bed bugs but I know the above mentioned things are tell tale signs of poor maintenance. And poor maintenance usually means there are pests. I hope this helps !.
Always read the reviews online you’ll have to be able to discern bad reviews from people who are just mad and trying to tarnish the reputation of the apt but if there’s a good amount of people complaining about bugs or pest then there’s an issue. Also open every thing and look at everything if you see a resident don’t be afraid to ask them questions ❤
Thank you so much for this video it was very helpful. I'm currently in the process of looking to move into my first apt and this video definitely helped me be more aware of what to ask.
Thank you for your videos. Please tell me why apartment representatives require payment in checking your credentials of decency for a needed economical place known as a "credit report" and a payment for an unknown credential of a person handling your privacy information known as "Administration Fee and Application Fee?" Why are these ludicrous apartment fees as to application imposed on economical needs for the people and not other economical needed areas, as to jobs? Have security deposits on interest bearing accounts vacated from leasing rules with accrued interest properly administered after lease is terminated? There should be laws implemented on everything that is required for payments in total printed on lease, summary, ads and any other documents about the building to be rented. Even an estimated electric or gas bill to assist in the total cost before leasing. Renters insurance should be an option to buy, because it only protects the renter and their merchandise arguably. If you pay renters insurance for years and never use the insurance, you have lost money while this is a simple way insurance agencies and affiliates make easy money. "Profiting Off Of The Ignorance of Others."
Renter’s insurance protects you and most apts have it added in the fees if you choose to cheap out and just use theirs which I don’t recommend spend the extra couple of dollars you never know when something will happen. As far as admin and application fees those are usually disclosed upfront when you inquire about applying and the fees are different at every complex so if you’re not comfortable paying the amount requested at one find a new complex and you can always call ahead and ask what they charge so you know whether to go tour or to keep looking. It’s really not that big of a deal 🤷🏾
Huh. Because of this video, I've realized my left speaker isn't emitting any audio. I'll have to listen with headphones later, and guess I need to buy new speakers, too.
Thank you so much for watching ! Unfortunately when I recorded this video, I had audio connection issues. Your speakers and headphones should be fine I assure you it is my audio.
No I meant amenities such as: gym, playground, work rooms, grills etc. These are sometimes additional charges. But of course not all apartments have them.
@@AminahOjere I'm just being dramatic. It's a beautiful city with so much to see. The summer heat and the revolving door of venues and restaurants made me leave only after 6 months. Like you said, a mixed bag, just like any other city! Love your content
