For #8 there’s also the mod Become Brave if you think desensitized is too much, or if you just want your character to experience more of a gradual tolerance for death
I would recommend Swap It, basically it let you swap the weapon or tool on your hand with the one on your back ( or holster for pistol, hammer on belt etc ) and doesn't put the it in your inventory so you don't have to open your inventory to pull out a melee weapon or another gun when zombies get too close to you
Autoloot has been a gamechanger. Whitelist the items you want and it just auto scoops them. Can also prioritize and filter containers so perhaps your chest rig only gets mags and ammo. Also allows grabbing loot duffels out of the car, setting them to priority 1 and walking over the mountain of bodies to auto pull all the watches and random bags of ammo and then chucking the duffles in the car. Can hit a butcher shop freezer section in 30 seconds when all the meat is autoloot too. Even has really smart stuff like 'turn autoloot off for this container' so you wont loot your own car. Just flick the autolooter off when you get to base and yer good.
Thank you for introducing my mod, I am very honored! By the way, the Pe in PePePePe is pronounced the same as Pe in Pepsi, just call out the Pe four times in a row. Or please call me simply Peil! ☺
So I just started playing this game a week or so ago. I'm playing on a HEAVILY modded game with some veterans, of the game, and assumed many of these features were vanilla. Pretty much every single one on this list we're using and I've just taken them for granted.
I always make page in my empty notebook that says which skillbooks I already have and then I add the volumes to the list as I find them :) Feels more realistic than some mod that magically tells me what books are at my base
I feel like some of these things demonstrate a real problem with trying to develop "realistic" survival games, which is that feature creep can get way out of control. The reason why is because the player is constantly going to be asking "can I do this?" "Can I do that?" "why can't I do this? Logically I should!", and the devs have to account for those things on some level. SS13 is probably the best example of out of control feature creep caused by people asking these questions in a game where you should be able to do anything.
Yeah logically a normal person is not going to become a master car mechanic or carpenter while starving and fighting for their lives. These things take years and an experienced mentor plus specialty tools that require training. Anyone can learn to fix a flat tire or hammer some boards on a window but building platforms and secure walls and gates? Fixing an engine from spare parts? I really doubt it.
list is very debatable. scrap armor and weapons ruins the balance and if you are a loot goblin like me, you have multiple melee weapon cabinets in your home base filled with axes, crowbars and spiked baseball bats. that mod then just adds stuff no one needs. the community im playing with actually voted this mod off the server because no one liked it really. same with AuthenticZ that just ruins the immersion. but what i found most surprising is that the Skill Recovery Journal is not in this list, by Chuckleberry Finn. the book that lets you save your learned skills and you then can read it after your death and regain them so you dont have to start from 0.
I can recommen Soul Filcher´s Crafting/Cooking/Farming Time. He has a bunch more with similar Names. It really expands on all different Aspects and adds a Ton more Depth to some Skills. Everything that let you do more Things with your way too much Loot is a good Addition in my Opinion. Currently playing with "Random Zombies" which brings in Variety. 5% of all Zombies are Sprinters so if you want a bit more Challenge without getting hunted 24/7, thats the Mod for you.
I feel like a mod list should be used by devs to add new features to the game. If they just look at the top mods on steam, they’ll see what the most anticipated or needed features are. Then the mod creator can get a little recognition in the game if it gets added. Encourages the community to mod to try and get in the game and increases the QOL with ideas in the game without needing to pile on the same mods every build.
Thats exactly what they do. They've added so many things to the base game from mods every single update for instance towing cars wasn't even considered until it became the top mod then it was added. Heck a few prolific modders have even been hired by indie stone to create for them. As far as game developers go they are one of the best I have ever come across. You can tell they genuinely care about fulfilling their vision and the community.
The big thing is testing. If someone's game is buggy or crashing a lot 9 times out ten its a problem with a mod they are using. Maybe that mod only crashes the game 1 out of a 100 play throughs. Not bad for a mod but totally unacceptable for the much wider audience on the base game. So every time they add something it takes awhile to go through testing and satisfying all dependencies and guaranteeing stability.
Sometimes I find with the Expanded Helicopter events I can never get them to spawn properly in Multiplayer, although we have found evidence of them being around like Crashed Helicopters or random supply drops. If anything one advantage it gives us for admins or make events for the player-base is easy-access to spawn supply drops at random locations to function as pseudo-missions for players to try.
In hindsight, metallurgy/blacksmithing is absolutely something we should be able to learn how to do in the game. The trade is almost as old as our civilization, why shouldn't we have the option to melt down some stop signs and reforge the metal into tools and weapons? I would imagine that maces, warhammers, and halberds would be among the best weapons to have in a zombie apocalypse.
Small question, I have just recently gotten Project Zomboid. But is it recommended to have the "Mod Options" downloaded if I want to download mods to my game? Or "Mod Manager"?
Last time I played I couldn't seemless switch from Controller to KB/M when looting/inventory and back, once I went KB/M I was kinda fucked. Anythign change on that front yet?
One thing I've always hated about the game is damaging the rear of your car reduces storage capacity. Which makes no fking sense. Especially when youre in a step van and it halves your capacity. Like how? Where'd the inside of my vehicle go exactly?
I think the only cure is a must have, at least for me it is. So helpful to be able to just amputate your hand and live instead of dying if i get bit in your arms, snd you can just get a prosthetic later on too
If you MUST have Proper Zombies and can never make it a week.. try Skill Recovery Journal.. lets your character transcribe your skills into a journal so if you die your new character can catch up quickly. Beats nerfing the zomboids!
Hey guys. I’m looking to start this game as soon as I get back home is there any other mods besides this one that you may recommend or things that might help the play through be a little bit easier on a brand new player. I think these mods will definitely be helpful but I’m always down for more/better options
is there any mod that prevent being bitten through when sitting in a car? i thought my windows were shattered or something. i was on ''10mph'' the cruise control mode luring zombies away. i hit some and suddenly i got bit in my arm. after inspecting the vehicle all windows were still there :/ just lost a 5 month old character damnit xD

I already use all those mods but i couldnt not watch your video :) Mods in PZ are so usefull. I started the game like 1 month ago, and im close to 200 mods running every playthrough. People would think with 200 mods the game has no sense at all but nope, i think 2/3 of them are moslty tiles mods (for the modded maps)/map mods/vehicles and QoL mods. I try to avoid anything having too much OP stuff. For example i play with VFE for guns, Brita is just too much for me. (Tho i was thinking recently to give B41 Firearms a try, i don't know). Thanks for the content !
currently play with B41 firearms and I can saw it feels very nice. None of the weapons feel too overpowered except for maybe silenced pistols which require you to find the rare suppressors. I would say also run "B41 firearms AR & SMG Patch" if you want the assault rifles and smgs to feel better and not like peashooters.
10-20 mags? Why so many? I usually rock 3-4 with ammo instead to make best use of capacity. Ammo gets depleted over time and gives back space while mag will have to stay in inventory
when playing MP i usually make reading just a tiny bit faster like 15% or so - yet the day's length is 3-hours instead of 1 - so yeah it does take some time to finish a book especially if it's a high level.. BUT, it gives a chance to take a break or go AFK.. like you know that when you're AFK at least your game character is doing something productive... or we just catch up on chats with the other players.. try it out, it surely feels more rewarding than finishing a book in literally 5 seconds!
Its not necessarily overpowered but some people might find it unfair considering the weapons especially the scrap spear are really really good and have nice durability that kind of overpass a lot of stuff in the base game. Personally I love it.
Because they are too powerful? Same reason Brita is overkill. If you can wade into a sea of zeds with a sword and win you're kinda not playing the same game anymore. Not that it can't be fun - it absolutely can - but call it what it is... overpowered. Besides no one should be able to pick up blacksmithing and become a master of it in the middle of an apocalypse when in real life it takes guys decades to get that kinda skill. Not saying the mod shouldn't exist - it absolutely should AND I love it for some of my playthroughs! But be real - its overpowered.
I tried adding scrap mods to our server but couldn’t find a way to build the scrap work bench at level 9 metalworking, it also prevented my character from crafting anything even if I had all materials. Any known incompatibilities? Would be greatly appreciated as I really want to use scrap workshop thanks!

Do you know how condition works in this game? most weapons have condition values of maximum like 10-20 (not sure on the values, tbh). The fact that a weapon is durable is affected by it's base chance to use up one of those condition points. e.g. a crowbar has a very very low chance to use one of those durability points.
