I'm so proud that Morrissey was born about a mile away from where i come from. I take my dog past his old gaff all the time and think of all the top tunes he wrote in there! A Manchester legend!! This tune is fucking wicked, all you want from a Smiths tune , wanting to cry and wanting to laugh!! Best band ever
+bascet1 Yeh is pretty awesome guy, such a legendary writer, like that he could open up his spirit and see that his insecurities and depressions were the same to millions of the common man, and then write them, and put them down and unite them. Magical
It's about him as half a person, isn't it? The girl he was smitten with for six years told him she liked him better when he was still poor. Ah, it's a really pretty song though. No one can top Morrissey in wits, and while being funny he looks good doing it all.
I went to shows on the 24th and 25th and 29th in 2000,, At one of them he pulled me on stage and gave me a hug but I can't remember which one. D oes that sound familiar to anybody who's seen videos. Thanks
@greyreview To be fair he's steeped in the british folk tradition and CAN play one guitar like it's three. Have you ever heard Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others live? It's a nightmare to play it like that!
Fair enough. I didn't want to exclude Rourke nor Joyce, The Smiths were a four piece unit ! I just wanted to point out that when Morrissey performs a Smiths song it's obvious somthing's lacking...Agreed?
I'm sorry to say, the original Smiths version is still much much better. Granted, this is a live version, but even Morrissey's vocals for this song were so much better in 1985 (or whenever the studio version was recorded).

Love how Morrissey handles the stage invasion so calmly and keeps on singing.
This song will never get old or tired...
"someone who is not really a full person I don't know who could that be I have no idea. do we know?" aahhhh
Yes, I'm in love with this song, too
This song is so beautiful
This is the story of my life, too, Morrissey
This needs to be in his set again!
Lovely vocals. Solid emotional quality from the band. I'm getting a tiny obsession with Morrissey's shoulders in this vid.
For all the band geeks or anyone who didnt fit in at high school. F them, we were awesome

Damn this is just so perfect.
1:24 Just another day at a Morissey show.

That was a fast mic switch to shake that stage rushers hand
Morrissey on top of his game, great vocals...still, this is only half a song without Johnny Marr playing the guitar...
Eu me lembro deste Album. Marcou minha adolescencia. Era um album laranja: "louder than bombs"
Coletânea muito boa dos Smiths. 👌
yes, it is on the album "Louder Than Bombs"
!!! Classic.

i would challenge everyone to check out Greg Laswell's cover version of this song......very cleverly done....
Do you have a vacancy for a back scrubber?

Thx a lot for posting this gem,I've just done a cover and it was a joy, see what you think...
For me, it sounds better because it's being played on a higher pitch =D

2018
@lecrapauddejerri9 Yeah, that was basically a smaller version of Louder for the UK release.
@luxazur Also, it's on, "The Worl Won't Listen".
Essa música
Excellent. Minor detail - but it's actually from Febuary 2000.
