Have you thought about getting a portable sawmill to make your own posts and rails to use around your pastures? With all your trees I think it may save you some money in the long run.
Ours is set to start on sat. morning and it runs for about 15 minutes then shuts off. This keeps the battery charged and makes sure everything is working correctly. I live in FL and when others were waiting for electricity we were fully functioning.
Working smart, not hard! Well done ye!🕊🦋🐈⬛🎃🍁🍂🫖🖖
Good choice AL with the Cummins Generator, known worldwide for thier excellence, wishing Gina the best of health
You and your family has been blessed. It not with out trails. It good to see you and your family make it threw with peace, love and humbleness. Good to see a Christian family strong. No nothing perfect. But yall living as examples.
When we were farming when we first started our irrigation engines, they were on natural gas, we'd have to Crack a line till the gas would come out purging air out of the line. That's the first thing I thought of when you first tried to start it. Just a learning process. The less cranking you have to do the less wear and tear on the starter and battery.
Praying for Gina! Glad the generator is working! Step by step! And yes, God is good ❤️
God is so good 🙏
It’s too beautiful to muddy up with restaurants and people! Keep it pristine!
It’s really awesome that you guys have been able to purchase a beautiful piece of Woodland and clean it out like you have most of the trees probably went to lumber and not all wood chips and pulp and I know this is just a small house for now until you build a bigger one And the barn to store all the equipment in
Make a open sided shelter over the generator to keep snow and weather off it, it will last long and will stop the snow blocking it… you don’t want to be out shoveling snow in a big storm.
During a big storm the entertainment factor gets progressively smaller as the hours go by. After dark? Even hot cocoa ceases to raise the spirits!
One of my all time favorite sayings is “If your dreams don’t scare you, They are not big enough”
We continue to think about and pray for Gina’s quick recovery.
Whoa! good thing you ran the generator and identified the battery issue. That would have been a single point of failure. Always good to check things out before you need them. In the field artillery we fired 9 projectiles that needed a battery to activate the guidance system and arm the round. Well, no one checked the batteries and we fired 9 lawn darts. Batteries matter!
I remember when you and Gina were dreaming on a video about 500 acres… next thing we know you’re making that dream come true
You're on the right track about the restaurant and giving back to the public. A good and noble vision to hold onto. Praying for Gina to join you in on the fun.
Praying for Gina's recovery, also for Olivia, you and the extended family, may God give you the strength through it all.
Your smile, inquisitive mind, and neverending dreams, are a blessing to all of us to watch.
You will need a good sized wood shed in the near future. Generator, solar panels, the wood boiler, it appears that you will be all set to weather the coming winter. Good Job.
Justin Rhodes channel would be a good one to check as they also have a wood burner like yours.
I really like how you are running everything before you need it.
Kind of like a break down cruise in a boat! Good to know of any possible problems Before Winter!
I sense a lightness in your spirit. Gina’s big ordeal is over and she is in the recovery stage. You are finding extra joy in the land and God’s blessings. So pleased for you.
You do indeed have an inquiring mind. Living in South Louisiana, I really need a generator because I get in a panic every time the weather people name a tropic storm. Sending love and continue to pray for your sweet heart.
Now, what you need is a wood chipper to take care of all the small branches along the road and elsewhere. 😀 Wood chips for the gardens, orchards, and walking/riding paths throughout the woods. Your place is looking awesome!
Need a woodshed Al, to store your firewood and keep it dry. Great to see all your hard work paying off. Thank you for sharing and bringing us along with you on the journey.
Al while you have the grapple on you should remove all the rocks from around the boiler area and level out the ground , then build a wood shed that will incorporate the boiler so when bad weather comes around you and the wood will stay dry while feeding the boiler . Hope Gina has a speedy recovery and get to feeling better soon , miss seeing Olivia in Some of the Weeknd videos❤
not to sure that would be a good idea and i don't think that outside boiler would need it . my brother in-law have outside wood burning boiler it over 15 years old still going strong
@@funtyes1970 They generally last 25 to 30 years, but it would be nice for him to not have to shovel out the boiler doors, the wood pile, and not get snowed on while fueling it.. Like Don is suggesting.
You need a shed for your wood pile. It is going to be tough pulling logs out of the snow this winter. One of our Family members has their wood burner and wood pile inside a pole barn and they love it. The wood dries and they load the burner in a dry area inside the barn. You do have to plan the pole barn system so it is safe and workable.
Remember that the wood burner is in a temporary position right now. I think he'll wait to build a wood shed when its in the permanent position.
In principle, the amount of energy (heat) you get out of wood depends on the kind of wood, oak is higher than most other hardwoods, poplar is on the lower end for hardwoods. Gasification is good at getting all the energy out of the wood, but the wood needs to be dry. When wood is not seasoned enough, some of the energy is needed to evaporate the moisture. That energy is then not used to make heat. So dry wood burns and gasifies the most efficiently.
I hope Gina gets well soon.
I've heard that wood that isn't dry also makes creosote in the chimney too. I'm not sure that's true but we always season our wood. Some of those logs looked really green.
Very nicely explained! TY
@@StoneKathryn true
yeah they also need to stop putting the split firewood on the ground it only picks up moisture from the ground improper storage and not splitting means it wont dry 😐
You’re absolutely right to learn how all the systems on your high tech home work.
I love the colors the birch trees give off such a display I love the northern foliage. Hope Gina is doing well
I like the quote I heard years ago . " Nothing grows in the comfort zone. If your dreams don't scare you, you are not dreaming big enough" That is why I watch this channel. I love watching people make their dreams come true and not settling for a less risky life they don't enjoy working to make someone else's dream come true. Keep living your dream 👍
What a beautiful quote! So true!,
Thinking of you Gina, REST and Get Well. Prayers 🙏 from Our Family to Yours‼️🙏 Vinny 🇺🇸
Good mauhnin Lumnah Acres and friends! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Continued prayers for Gina, for a swift and complete recovery! Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
Good morning Elizabeth. I hope your weekend was great.
Good 🌄 to you! A little chilly now in Minnesota and I am gardening today. Cutting back foliage and tidying up before the weather gets too cold. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
🕊🦋🐈⬛🎃🍁🍂🫖🖖
Speaking with experience with the importance of power, I am a disabled women on oxygen everyday all day. I have my limits on walking. It gets hard but I make the best of every day until I have NO power. Last night I lost power at 7pm not to have power again until 3am. For me that is a long time, but I do have my tanks I use when it does go out they just don't last long so I have to make sure when I order to keep some on hand for that reason. Power is no joke so I am a full believer to what you are doing. I wish I could but again I make the best of what I have. Great job on it all Al. Speedy recover for our Gina, miss her beautiful face. God bless
I have been to a Cummins manufacturing plant in Belgium. That was pretty cool and interesting to see their large motors. I am sure this will last you a life time.
Praying that Gina is recovering. God bless Lumnah family.
Time to get your woodshed built.
That is a slick power setup! So glad all the research, patience, and persistence with the infrastructure prep is paying off. Continued prayers for health and safety for all and especially for Miss Gina's swift and full recovery. Hope everyone has a great day!
Yes Al God Is good all the time! Praying Gina has a good recovery.
You can have a pumpkin patch up there and have hay rides down the road looking at all the fall colors.
31 degrees. Won't be long before it's time to harvest the pork. Glad to see that things are coming together. Very satisfying seeing the backup power setup. I hope Gina is feeling better each day that she heals from the surgeries.
Glad the Cummins fired up for you. My Generac automatically kicks on once a week to make sure all the components are working. It is hooked to the natural gas. I is a great comfort knowing it is doing the job. I love the wood burning furnace, but then you have all the wood you would ever need for it. It would be expensive if you had to buy the wood, at least here in Va. Will you be building a wood shed for this set up? Give Gina a big hug and let her know prayers are still going out for a speedy recovery. Your foliage is beautiful. Have a Blessed day.
A "learning center" homestead farming and harvesting" is what you are destine to have on that property! I suggest a "tiny house village" on the property for living quarters that house worker/ students for homesteading learning and meet-ups for the like minded.
Interesting idea.
You might check with a nearby community college to see if they would give credit for classes under Ecology and/or Agriculture. Could certainly encourage enrollment! Love to your Ladies! Miss them! 😉
In the spring and fall the center could "host" artists to come for demonstrations
WaSU has some type of an Organic Farming degree; supposedly the first in the country, or the first of its type in the country . I know that for some time, they had some type of an internship program going on which was reasonably open specification wise; I think they are more specific anymore. But WSU is nolomger the only.
Dennis st Germaine that is what I would love to do if I ever hit the lottery. I'm in a wheelchair now but I still grow some of my food in my gardens (tall raised beds) and animals ( chickens and rabbits). But I would love to get 100 acres to be able to get beef cows pigs and a couple milk goats.
Lucky Edmonds , looking good all wood just check mag on your tip
It’s great having wood when you need heat. Continued prayers for Gina’s healing
It is so nice to see the fall color in the trees. So very beautiful. I trust that Gina is doing well and sending prayers for her quick recovery. I miss seeing the girls play with the goats. It's time for new kids eh? And Al you tickle me with your nerd side when things go well and work.
They skipped breeding the goats this year so we'll have to wait for kids next year.
@@StoneKathryn Yep. All that takes time and effort that they need to put towards the OGP. When they are living full time on the new place they will be able to devote more time to breeding. Looking forward to that!
It's finally here. The wood boiler, the generator and solar. Great job on all of it.
You look so happy. Gina must continue to improve. Good for you, Al, working without supervision! I agree that "God is good." 😇
Al, I so admire how you’re using the technology for the generator at the OGP😃. It’s neat that you’re not afraid to try up-to-date technology for the entire OGP! Didn’t get an update on Gina today. I sure hope she’s progressing well❤️
I Love Your Video’s There Informative, Funny, N Your Land Is Gorgeous. Hope Gina’s Doing Better. Let Her Know I Miss Seeing Her, But To Take Her Time Til She’s Feeling Great! Prayers For Her Well Being. Gina See You Soon..
Al, I watch your channel because you don’t call anyone. You given me inspiration and the money I’ve saved and knowledge I’ve gained is irreplaceable.
It’s great to look 👀 forward wish I lived in the American 🇺🇸 but I live in Scotland xx
I could go crazy cutting those small trees into firewood. Working outside, cleaning up the trails and stacking it for future use....that sounds so wonderful. I am wondering how Figaro will like it there. I do worry about animals who might want him for a snack☹️
The nights have sure gotten a little crispy here in New England. Beautiful Autumn colors have arrived here at the Sothern New England shore. Happy to see that you are up and running for winter. It will be cozy for all of you. Continued healing thoughts and prayers Gina. Blessings.
Wonderful, and using your resources of your land. Am old and will be satisfied with the dreams your fulfilling now. God is good
Like a kid in a candy shop ... Al, your genuine glee at starting the generator from the app is infectious! Have a great day ...
I was thinking the same thing, work never looked so fun!
Love the Farm to Table restaurant idea! Think you guys would do well with that! There is a Farm to Table restaurant in Lincoln NH area that does very well. For burning firewood dry hardwood is the best for heat as well as it doesn't build up creosote which can cause a chimney fire. Softwood causes a creosote buildup, burns up quicker and doesn't heat as well. Continuing to pray for complete healing for Gina! 🙏❤️
It's nice to see you in such an exceptionally good mood. And yes: God is good!
Good morning Al. I hope that Gina is feeling better and is on the road to recovery. Huge healing hugs to her!
Gooooood Morning Richard
Howdy Richard!
@@samvalentine3206 👋 Good morning!
Good 🌄 Gentlemen!
Dream big because God IS good! Look what's happened so far! Everything looks great. Still praying for Gina.
Pretty great to see someone 'ahead' of me and learning lessons form you. One small piece of advice, get better drainage around that generator. A large storm (5 year storm) could flood it and put you in a bad spot. I can see the water flows from previous storms that make me nervous for you.
Good morning Al and Gina! Oh my goodness to see the beautiful foliage that God has provided at this time of year is amazing. And to see the joy on Al's face when he got everything right on the generator just warmed my heart.
Won't it be wonderful to be in your house Gina and it is so cold and you need to turn on the generator, that you can just push a button and not step outside and have your lights and heat come on. What a blessing! Gina, I hope you are resting all you are suppose to. We miss you but only want you to heal safely ! Many prayers are being said for you and your sweet family. Hugs from N.C. ❤️
It's great watching your progress.
I used movable fence panels to enlarge pasture in steps. Could leave it up when buildning proper fences. And extend a little bit more one step at a time. Was never forced to to it all in one big effort, but used the movable panels to be able to work one little bit at a time.
Love the fall scenery Al and Gina it's beautiful. Lots of wood for sure GREAT JOB!!! Al's own personal BEAVER DAM LOLOL. Hugs and prayers to you GINA and God's Blessings to you ALL
Nice to see all the little projects being done that much closer to the BIG move in day. Prayers for Gina to a quick recovery. We miss seeing you in the videos.
Love the way you place things in perspective and your dreams
Al, Perhaps a small investment in a tipping trailer is called for in the wood collecting, saving you lots of return journeys along the roadway with the tractor..... Cheers Robin...
Hope Gina is resting and healing, an I do love Al and his rambling to the camera. Winter is fast approaching.
Good Morning Al,
Everything is looking good on the off-grid property. The fall foliage is looking spectacular. Continue to dream big and trust in the goodness of God. Dreams do come true.
Sending continued healing prayers for Gina. I’m sure she is chomping at the bits to get back out on the property but be patient, follow the doctors orders and you will be back on your feet soon. God Bless each of you.
Jeana, should be resting on the couch in the off grid house with all that heat. Nice free wood. Love the video
Apologies, I know I'm being pedantic! but it's *Gina*
Thinking of Gina and praying for her well being. May she continue to heal and feel better.
It’s always so exciting to see your amazing progress and to hear what plans or dreams you and Gina have. The Fall colors are gorgeous, hopefully Gina will feel well enough to take a ride out to see them. At least she’ll see them on video if she can’t make the trip. ♥️
As always, Al is meticulous as to detail and redundancies (as well as ways to make a job easier and more efficient, which is good info to pass on to viewers. I know I always take note and try out his “contraptions” that make life easier like the drywall sander and the outlet finder) such an entertaining and informative channel. Been watching for years and have come to be really invested in their journey!
Take one of those chunks of wood and make three different lengths 5" 7" and 9" long. Take a large drill bit and drill out the top of each one the size of a votive candle. Sand the top and bottom down and spray clear coat on them. Makes absolutely beautiful candle sticks. I made some last year and give them out as christmas gifts. Was huge hit!
Gina did something similar with some wood chunks from one of the builds for Christmas. Yes, the birch would be pretty for some of those homemade candles.
Hope Gena will get to see the colors at high peak, trees look lovely 🥰
Jamaica 🇯🇲 here good morning blessings to you and your family how is you wife that is cool technology is doing almost everything these days it seems strange to the older folk like me have a blessed day
Howdy Phillip! Thank you and hope you have a blessed day as well!
I'm so glad you got the Cummins generator set-up and working Al. Your idea for a farm to table restaurant sounds wonderful. It's good to see you picking up some wood along the driveway. What happened to the trailer you had with a grapple? I thought you were going to use that to gather firewood. Nice pile of wood! Thanks for this Al. Prayers for Gina getting better. God is good!
Good morning Kathryn!
Good Tuesday morning to you Kathryn!
So many possibilities......... looking forward to following your progress
Much love, honor, and respect to you and the family you love well.
Healing, strengthening, positive vibes Gina. Glad the generator worked.
Hi Lumnah family! Gina I’m glad you are home and recovering! Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️
Good morning Lumnah fans and a wonderful day to all. A good evening to Robert in Japan too!
Thank you
Howdy Linda! Hope you have a wonderful day too!
Good 🌄 to you!🕊🦋🐈⬛🎃🍁🍂🫖🖖
Cool country morning. Thanks for sharing
Love and light and sending prayers for you all🙏🙏🙏💕
Nice setup with the generator backup. Just a suggestion, on your LP gas line into the generator you need to paint those black pipe fittings so that they don't continue to rust.
You will have a almost perfect setup when your done. If you close the grapple not tight when you disconnect it, you won't have pressure in the lines when you go to hook them back up and it might be easier. With the fingers in the air there is pressure on one line cause they want to fall. You may know this but I thought I would mention it incase you didn't.
Better to remind someone than have a mistake made because they forgot or didn't know. It's how you word it that prevents the sting that sometime accompany a reminder.
That and "I told you so!" which really raises the hackles.
Absolutely great ideas
Beautiful day with the changing colors of the trees❤🤗👍
I absolutely love your restaurant idea and hope to be one of your first customers.
What a great day that would be! A class, or farm tour, or just a hike down the trails followed by a yummy grass-fed lunch, yes please!
Al, you looked so happy and peaceful today bringing in firewood with the TYM tractor. It made me feel good seeing you so joyful. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Blessings to you, Gina and Olivia.
Enjoyed the video of your progress on the homestead!
God bless your family!
Al and Gina please never stop dreaming! The restaurant/ learning center is such a great idea. I can see fresh goat and dairy cheeses offered with of course some goats milk fudge for dessert. I'd come from Pittsburgh Pa to eat and learn from you guys. Don't forget some Airbnb cabins too
The absolute best way to keep the battery charged is to regularly exercise your generator. Mine runs for 20 minutes every week under full load. I make sure it cranks and transfers correctly every week.
Sounds like good advice. Doing that each week will ensure you have it when you need it. Good idea.
@@StoneKathryn I had two standby generators for my Chicken operation and the company wanted maintainers on the batteries. Many of the batteries failed because of overcharging. 20-30 minutes of running under load will keep your batteries charged and your engine in shape. I always took the maintainers off and had no problems.
@@tomcren59 ... on older analog gen controls you could get away with that. The newer digital controls are always on to monitor things so there is a parasitic draw. Best to have a low level maintainer in there.
@@rupe53 mine were digitally controlled also. You must have a large parasitic draw. A lot more than mine. They were both 300 kw gensets
@@tomcren59 ... consumer grade sets are WAY different than the commercial line, but Cummins still recommends battery tenders on just about everything... last I looked. (retired almost 3 years now) The largest set I worked on was 800 Kw. One office building had a pair of Cummins units (both digital) doing a megawatt and they all had some sort of battery tenders.
Love your vision for the future
Great video your positive energy is your God and the reason for your success, continue to focus on happiness and love and your inner Christ will gift you. Blessings for Ms.Gina! Stay safe brother 🙏
Good Morning Lumnah Acres family!!! Continued prayers for Gina and her recovery. The misty morning looks so pretty.
Gooooood Morning

Shari Thompson, me too, I’m just hooked for life.
Yes! Good is good🙂
The view is amazing, fall colors are very special. That power setup is terrific. I agree about power problems they always seem to happen on a holiday!
You do have a lot going on. I remember you and Gina pressing apples in that wooden press. Lol. You sure have come a long way. Hope Gina is having a good day.
Keep getting better Gina! Prayers to you all! Glad the generator works!
Next Jamaica Cottage kit.....Wood shed 😁😛👍🏻 Looking good. Glad the generator is working.
Well done Al! 👍😁
