This advice is golden, and from the very best in the game. I'm speaking as someone whom has had the pleasure of being mentored by Tommy, so I can personally vouch for the invaluable wisdom you'll get from this channel.
This is exactly how it works! I've created a lots of projects in the past for redbull, pringles, Nerf and many other projects for RUclips. I made all this through production companies such as comedy lab.gr, illusive image and some others from my Country (Greece) Now I'm living in the UK just to continue my dream! I cannot imagine myself not create music and not to eat pizza of course. Thank you Tommy for doing this! It means a lot for all the creators! We only live once guys... let's do this! 🤟🤟
Thanks, Tommy Z. Appreciate the material. Your videos are always informative, short and too the point. If I had a question... how do music producers get paid? Your last live stream, you said that this type of work was "work for hire"? So there's no PRO/backend money?
Music producer in our business is someone like me. It is the work of a music producer to hire freelance musicians and composers for every project. The music producer either makes a salary as paid by a music production company they work for or they take a cut of the project budget. The composer gets a cut of the budget and royalties are also possible but mainly in western Europe (Netherlands, Germany)as most other regions don’t track or don’t pay royalties.
Thank you for sharing such valuable information with us Tommy! This is so helpful. I have been following your Masterclass etc. for a long time and it has moved mountains in my music career.🙏🏼 Big hugs
When talent + tenacity meet a good teacher - usually good things will happen. You have a bright future ahead as long as you keep moving! Thanks for being here Fiona!
Well well well, so, Tommy, you can really count on me, I'm one of these freelance composers. Please feel free to try me when you want to hear different ideas. I play bass since 1983, and started to record ideas and riffs about 2-3 years later. I have made music for some big brands too, of course not many as you. But I am very flexible and fast delivery. Any style. :)
The best way to convey your superpowers is to have a site / reel that shows everything in crisp, compelling and clear way. It's hard to trust anyone with words - need to see the work! Thanks for being here!
@@Zee.Co. working on that. Many thanks for the precious tip!!! I have things in different places, some on Instagram, others on soundcloud, my golden tracks are not online. It's time to put everything in one place, for sure! Good on music, but slow on making sites... But if you look in my account here on YT, you will find a playlist... some old tracks, but my style is there... Waiting for your next amazing video, but I think you did give me a good tip here!
This is more about the relationship between music producer at music company and freelance musicians. It's not just about this or that track - it's about the track record + relationship between the producer and composer - which - if it goes well - it could be responsible for a lifetime of projects. Thanks for being here!
Don't let this discourage you. Focus on building your superpowers amd network to a point where you are sought after as a craftsperson. The busiest folks in our game don't worry about the pyramid...they are too busy with their projects! Thanks for being here! 🙏
@@Zee.Co. thanks man that is great advice. However, the fact that we cannot make a living with independent music like we use to only 2 decades ago is really defeating. Telecom companies really screwed it all up for us.

Thank you 👍
thank YOU Andres!
Thank you for a very brief but very factual explanation. How to get in the business as a bedroom producer?
It doesn’t matter if you are bedroom or living room…all that matters is what comes out of the speakers and how it makes people feel!

So this is somewhat more beneficial than music supervisors getting your instrumental(s) from a music library.

All good advice, but totally discouraging that musicians and composers are at the bottom of your pyramid. Trash.

So... it's a pyramid scheme? ;)
JK... This is such mindblowing content man... thanks!
