  • Interlocking bricks: The interlocking blocks are different from conventional #bricks since they do not require mortar to be laid during #bricklaying work. Because of this characteristic, the process of building walls is faster and requires less skilled labor as the blocks are laid dry and lock into place.

    • @civilogy
      @civilogy  3 года назад +1

      Yes. It is not advisable for bathrooms and other wet areas because of it’s porous nature. So prefer other blocks in those specific areas or go for damp proofing.

    pressure required to compress the earth blocks while making

  • @rubyellis.5472

    Engineering bricks are stronger in below grade construction in moisture. Is it possible to make a CSEB Compressed Stabilized Earth Brick into an Engineering brick by changing the amount of cement / lime content and firing the brick? If you were to dig an underground basement for every house, it would give you the soil you need to make the bricks, plus provide an underground root cellar for storing food in a cool location, and a hurricane / tornado proof room. How would you make your own engineering bricks?

    • @111jacare
      @111jacare 10 месяцев назад

      If it was me doing this, I would extend the foundations outside of the wall line by about 9 to 12 inches. Against the wall, on the foundations, place an agdrain, wrapped in a geofabric, adjacent to the wall. Then, obtain marble or clean 10 to 16 mm gravel, and place that in the area directly above the foundation, against the wall, and create a barrier on the outside to stop the soil from interacting with the gravel. By doing this, you are catching the water that runs through the gravel, and removing it from the area. The gravel allows the water to escape, but also allows air to circulate, thereby removing moisture from the wall and reducing damp coming to the surface.

      Brother Quality depends on manufacturer’s. So check while you buy. The company will mention you the max strength it can bear and it’s sizes. Based on that, choose the one which suits for your needs. The nominal strength we already mentioned in the video 👍

      The solid bricks, with the tongue and groove, are known as Interlocking Stabilised Soil bricks, or ISSB. The bricks with the perforations / cores, are known as Compressed Stabilised Earth Bricks, or CSEB. The advantage with the CSEB is that they can have reinforcing and cement to bind the reinforcing run through them both vertically and horizontally. They do not require cement pillars externally to hook into, and, if set up properly, there is no reason why they are not able to be used in 4 level / 3 storey buildings. The other benefits are that comms, power, water and gas lines can be run through the perforations / cores.
      ISSB constructions requires pillars to hook into, and there is no way of running reinforcing through the wall. Any comms or utilities that are required either have to be cut into the wall, then backfilled, reducing the strength and integrity of the wall; or, run down the outside of the wall. The other caution about ISSB products is that, depending on the manufacture method, the length of the blocks can vary considerably.

    Thanks for the video but I think in the future, if you want to read off slides then you might as well not say anything and allow people to read it themselves. Just a pet peeve with presenters who read directly from slides. It achieves no purpose.
