In 1976 Hurricane Kathleen swept through that area and washed out interstate 8 areas just South of beginning of video by the Lazy Lizard Bar….. the train tracks were left hanging after the bridge was washed out , the road was closed , it was Mayhem turned loose ( Like the Mayhem guy in commercials 😆). It just goes to show that when Mother Nature gets Pissed , She gets PISSED!! Stay safe people , and as they say if coming up on flooding roads “ Turn around, Don’t Drown”. The power of flowing water is very underestimated. As a Native San Diego native I have seen a lot in my 62 years . Stay safe….
🌟New Subscriber🌟 Wow Randy, great videography and love your drone footage! It's amazing how destructive flash floods are! So many flash floods have run thru our desert here in Arizona as well! Be safe out there! So happy to have come across your channel! 😊 Keep up the good work🤙 I can't wait to get the guts up to get me a drone...I'm such a techno dork😂
That was a serious flood Randy !! We do get floods here but not normally of that scale. Could do with some rain here right now in London since no rain for more than two months and very limited rain through winter and spring. Great video clip. Waiting for the flower bloom video from you 😊😊
Heck, we get even less rain than that. I too am hoping for some bloomage in the desert. Sometimes after a good soaking, you have to wait till the next year for the cactus blooms to happen. But the small flowering plants might flower up. I was thinking of making a video of my favorite cactus and flower super blooms from last year, what a show the desert put on.
Those hills on the right [ drone footage ] look like they have been power washed of all rocks and scrub..in contrast to the hills on the left. I know I would be terrified living or having to travel places where that kind of flooding occurs! Thank you for some great footage!
Thanks for sharing! I live in Norway, and never been to the States. But here in Norway we are also starting to deal more and more with landslides due to excessive rainfall and soil erosion. Sometimes entire housing areas as well as asphalted roads disappear into the abyss due to landslides. It's very interesting yet slightly unnerving since these problems are only bound to get worse. I don't know much about flash floods, is this a problem that is becoming worse in the future or has it pretty much always been like that?
Btw, I used to work in a firm that specialises in securing rockwalls against rockslides, and one of the extreme difficulties in that job was water, and it's ''persuasive'' power. I appreciate your respect for this Force of Nature. The element of Water, in all it's forms, be it fluid or frozen, is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
This is pretty much how it is in the southwestern USA deserts. Moisture comes up from Mexico and dumps here and there. After talking with the road crew, they were surprised the road lasted this long as it was built by a natural drainage of many many square miles. Your very welcome
Been watching the weather stuff, and it's "supposed" to be only .01 to .02 inch per hour, I would like to go out there but with the price of fuel, not really worth it. I'll stay home in Alpine CA, and film any major storm here, maybe thunder and lightning.
WE do not need rain in the dry areas, that water NEVER goes into the water supply system. What we need is continued rain in WATERSHED areas (where there is only a 15% decline from normal rainfall) Think Wyoming, Colorado and high elevation New Mexico.
Back in the 80s 82-83 I had a friend that his mom was a Ranger in the Ocotillo Wells area and when she came back into Moreno Valley we would go out to the desert and hang out for a couple of days all spun and frying on acid popping Quaaludes I don’t recommend it but back then I didn’t know shit and I didn’t give a fuck and now I’m paying for it as I’m in my early 60s things you do a long time ago will come back and bite you in the ass 30/40 years later😳
That say if you remember the ‘60’s & ‘70’s “ You probably weren’t there”!! 😆😆😉👍. I’m your age now also (62) and did the same types of stuff out there around that same time frame… who knows , we may have crossed paths back in the day . …..
Flash flood footage is VERY hard to get, I have been trying for years to film a flash flood in the desert, one needs to live there and I am a ways from the desert. I suppose i could fake it and put in flood footage from someone else eh?
I have heard of desert floods, but never seen the results of one. Thanks for doing and sharing this.
You are welcome 🤓
Great memories out on the S2 , thanks for the ride along
You bet!

Yes, I read about that wild nature incident, amazing, wish I could have filmed it!
I remember 76'. My Dad was teaching at IVC P/T back then. We ended up stuck in the valley for a few days.

Thank you for the comments! Drones are pretty easy to fly these days, and if you get one light enough, you don't need a license.
@@ridealongwithrandy Oh, great advice I never knew, thanks Randy🤙

They should build some reservoirs here.
Ya! ya think!!!
I like the music for the drone footage. Who did it?
Anxious · Sextile

Wow. Yes reminds me of St Helen's also.
Not even close. Absurd comparison.
@@MH-Tesla didn't compare it. Just reminds me of it.
It was wild!!😯

last minute decision to go to Ocotillo area

@@qualicumwilson5168 WELL THAT WATER NEEDS TO BE HARVESTED SO FOLKS BETTER GET TO WORKING , BE PREPARED
@@tahm1236 I believe that "flood water" without dams, will end up in the Salton Sea. Good luck harvesting it. You will need more than luck.

It is illegal to fly a drone in Anza Borrego State Park. You should remove this before the Park sees it and prosecutes you.
Not without a permit. And only for commercial purposes, I have done my homework.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wind Turbines polluting the desert? Get real! If you use the same view how is that road and you driving on is not?
It's all relative I reckon 🙃
