MJFANGIRL TV how do you get there from manhattan the easiest... i went to nyc a few weeks ago and i couldn’t find the easiest and cheapest way to get there i was so sad lol
Great investigative work on your part! I actually saw Michael at this train station on Dec.4, 1986 after being told by first my cousin, and then my GodBrother that they each had seen him there in the week prior. My cousin said "He is wearing the coolest boots I have ever seen!" ( which we now know were the iconic "BAD" boots) and my GodBrother said "He is wearing a hooded sweatshirt and his hair is really long, hanging in the hood!" I went to see for myself and long story short, MJ eventually came down the stairs at the entrance opposite to where you were at. (Did you notice the long hallway right outside the turnstiles where you were at? At the end of that hallway is another entrance to the train station. That is where I saw him.)He came down those stairs and I heard screams from the street above. I saw his boots first and then I saw Mike. He had on a black trench coat and dark Ray-Bans and he had a huge smile on his face. He looked GREAT! Taller than I expected with longer hair than when we last saw him in the "Thriller" era, and I tripped out at the cool part in his hair. He smiled at me and the 3 girls there that also knew he was filming and then ducked into a door at that end of the station. It all happened in about 10 seconds, but I will NEVER FORGET IT! I know that station well, because I lived in Brooklyn for most of my life, and I also worked at a Transit Authority facility right above that station for 15 years! And I thought of Mike every single time I walked thru that station. You rock, MJFanGirl!!!
I'm always down town and I always go inside that train station and each time I do I always thinking about bad Michael Jackson video bring back a lot of memories.
@@MJFANGIRLTV Yes, she's great. Recently when the pandemic started New York Sports Clubs gym closed their locations abruptly with no notice, and would not freeze or cancel their member's memberships or even respond to them. They just kept talking everyone's money. Leticia James then stepped in and threatened to sue them on the members' behalf and that was the only way they returned our money and allowed everyone to cancel.
I'm a Brooklynite that takes the A/C/G to Hoyt-Schemerhorn everyday, so it's really cute to see it through fresh excited eyes! The lawmaker Tish James is my relative so I feel so represented by this video and of course, I love Bad and MJ!
The first time Michael was at the Hoyt-Schemerhorn subway station was when him, Diana Ross, Nipsey Russell, and Ted Ross were filming The Wiz in 1977. Not only that, Sylvester Stallone, Billy Dee Williams, and Rutger Hauer were there filming Nighthawks in 1980. The Warriors and Beat Street were also filmed at Hoyt-Schemerhorn.
Watching that, I was just so amazed by it. I'd love to come to New York someday just to see this. I love the video for Bad and everything about it is so amazing
The station was a lot bigger when MJ filmed the video. The police station wasn't there back then. That space was open space like you see in the actual video. A lot of the dancing scenes were filmed where the police station now stands. I went to school in the area and took that train every day. I remember when the station was closed for filming at night. It was very exciting.
Glad to read this comment. I was at the station last week and was having a hard time matching up the shots from the music video with what was actually there. I know things look smaller in real life compared to film, but the space really is smaller... there weren't enough pillars to count compared to the music video. I was also difficult to match up the pillar MJ is hiding behind (where he puts his hood on) as it lines up with the old barriers but not the staircase he's stood next to. Was the position of the barriers moved when they were replaced with the more modern ones, possibly when the police station was added?
My goodness, how are you SO lucky?! You finally made it there!! It still looks the same after all these years and BAD is one of my favorite MJ short films from that era!!! Thank you thank you for this!
Thank you mj fan girl, bad is my all time favorite video, he is so gorgeous,I couldn't get enough of it,especially the way he was running up the stairs and jumped on the gates,it looks same and you did a great job of creating some of his looks, great video!love you and all mj fans.
Wow this video was awesome I can't believe you actually got to see the place under New York where the bad video was filmed I haven't even seen that then again I haven't even seen the Thriller house
It's so cool to see the location where they shot the video! Being a Brazilian, I also found quite awesome when you did that video where they recorded "They don't care about us". Thanks for taking us to these places, MJ Girl. A big shout out from Brazil to you! Keep on rocking! ;)

Great job mjfangirl!!!👍The N.Y. Hoyt Schermerhorn train station was used in the movie 'Nighthawks,' as well. That train station has become, more famous with M.J.'s bad video, than any other filming there, to date. Bratty kids, trying to photo bomb @ 3:57-58🤪👎😂
In case anyone didn't know, the unused platforms were once used by the Court Street shuttle, which ran from Hoyt Schermerhorn to Court Street (Now the NY transit museum). The transit museum station was intended to be the terminus for local trains on the Fulton street line, but when the Fulton street line opened in 1936, all trains serving it went into Manhattan and the Court street (transit museum) station was only used by the shuttle. The Court street shuttle service ended when transit museum station closed in 1946 because of its proximity to other stations. The transit museum opened in the then-abandoned court street station in 1976 where it still is today.
LOL! it looks kind of different when Michael is standing there at 2:13. I know the turnstiles has been removed but also looks the area has been kind of moved alittle. like i don't see the stairs where the guy walked down from while Michael was standing there. or maybe that's how it was suppose to look in the film?. tough luck they couldn't name apart the train station after him. but that's kind of understandable when you think about it. you so lucky to be there. it's still looks pretty much the same as it did back in 86 and it's still working after all these years. I didn't know that so much was filmed there but the wiz. thanks for the history of this train station. LOL! that ending! i just notice you dressed like him too. fun fact: did you know the Bad short film was actually based on a true story?
Yes, I think 2:13 was definitely the other closed platform he was at but, I tried to use the space as best as I could! LOL. It would have been great if they had a plaque or something in his honor but... who knows, maybe in the future :) . and yes omg thank u for mentioning, i would love more information on the story it was based on, i recall hearing about it but no real sources besides word of mouth. i hope to share some facts on this in the future because i know its very important. wish Michael Jackson would have shared about things like this with us during his lifetime but, i guess its fun now to put the pieces together too! thank you for watching

Bad is a masterpiece and I always wondered how it would be on the stage along with the 6 or 8 dancers! By the way I love the track - Bad (Dance Extended Mix Includes 'False Fade') Happy to found your channel, love from Brazil.
1987's 'BAD' album was described as a musical odyssey that went on to sell 45 million copies worldwide. 'Man in the Mirror' is probably the most recognizable humanitarian song ever written about self reflection and selflessness in a world full of greed and hate. The 'bad' album to this day is still one of the biggest selling of all time and in an era of music streaming and youtube there will never be an artist to come on the scene ever again with such global fame and record sales to come close to matching michael jackson's albums of 'bad' and 'thriller'. It is just mathematically impossible in this day and age. Cool video i remember that video and the 1980s well.
hanscombe72 1 second ago I still remember the night the video premiered in Australia. Late august early September 1987 on channel 9 Sydney. It was hosted by music journalist Ian “molly” Meldrum (who interviewed mj TWICE looking at you Oprah). There was a retrospective on his career and then the premier of the video. I was in high school at the time and everything was heavy metal. You were looking for a beating if you admitted to liking Mj. Just a few things I remember from that night. 1. His new appearance was HUGE news. Even though he would change it further and the vitiligo would get worse there was no denying his look was controversial. 2. The crotch grab. Nothing today but then it was something everyone noticed. 3. The fact that he was talking to people. Thriller made him beyond human. But here he was talking with people - “be the man”. 4. Shamone-thank you mavis staples. 5. The whoosh of air and the whip sound of the snapping fingers. It was clever but funny. 6. The outfit. All the buckles. We had only seen him in sparkly clothes. 7. The breakdown at the end - “ask meeeeee”. 8. There was a lot of talk about race. It was never meant that way but everything from the music to the clothes to the theme of a young black man going to an exclusive prep school. The song is undeniably a mean angry groove but it got a lot of people talking and asking questions. It was the start of a lot of press hate against MJ for these small choices. But it was ahead of its time. The same happened with black or white and the panther scene at the end. Geek!- ok. In the video for weird al yankovics parody “fat” the Asian dancer with the Japanese headband is replaced by a much heavier gentleman in the weird al video. An actor by the name of glen chin. He was also in the black or white video in the face changing sequence. He also appeared as a corrupt general in the movie art of war with Wesley snipes who was…..the antagonist in the bad video. You’re welcome!
Bad is the first album I've ever owned. I was 5 when it came out. I didn't even know about his others until later when I got older. Thriller is great but Bad has a special place in my heart. I wish I could meet an MJ fan like you. We would have fun. I subscribed

Very good the video, cool you show where the bad clip was recorded

I still remember the night the video premiered in Australia.
Yo !! You are the real MVP!! I love the reenactment!!!!

Bad is the first album I've ever owned. I was 5 when it came out. I didn't even know about his others until later when I got older. Thriller is great but Bad has a special place in my heart. I wish I could meet an MJ fan like you. We would have fun. I subscribed
