Good day sir, though it's been five years since you posted this video, it was the most comprehensive video on you tube . I removed and fixed my brake light switch following your exact instructions. Thank you very much.
Thank you for this video! Right after I bought a replacement brake light switch for my wife's van ($50 at AutoZone) I found this video. I decided to keep the replacement switch and rebuild the original incase the replacement failed. Five months later is has, so I popped in the rebuilt original switch and now I'm rebuilding the the replacement with this video again!
Thank you sir for showing me how to replace this part on my car. I got up this morning not even know this part existed. Thanks to you I now have working break lights and a very happy girlfriend who stopped bugging me once I fixed it.. Thanks you sir and many blessings.

Thank you! brake lights were already working, but cleaning the switch seems to have corrected a failure to engage starter solenoid on a 2008 Nissan Altima, even after starter replacement. The fix for that was supposedly to replace the brake switch, AutoZone & others wanting $40-$60 for the switch. Mine had a bad contact like in your vid, cleaned it and put it back in, now starting without issue multiple times in a row when earlier I couldn't get it to start more than once every 5 minutes or so, Time will tell, but Thanks again!
This is amazing a child providing a snack and a prize so you continue fixing the issue. Love this daughter -child , Thanks sir ,very valuable and excellent helping video.
Great video and steps showing the switch replacement and fix... your daughter thinking 🤔 about you is priceless 🙏... ❤️ that's bigger than the world 🌎.
I fixed my brake lights for free because of this video. They were only turning on sometimes and cleaning/sanding the connections on the switch did the trick! Thanks for uploading this!
I want to thank I watched this last night I couldn't figure out why my break lights wasn't on and why my traction control light was staying on I clean the switch like you showed and fix both problems
Thank you bro for this Video it was Helpful.. I have a 2011 Nissan Frontier and my VDC off light was going on and slip light also my shifter wouldn't move from park and my brake lights weren't working but after I changed the brake light switch my shifter unlocked and my lights were working again thank you bro....
Thank you! Used some carb cleaner and fine sandpaper on the contacts and voila...note you can adjust the sensitivity of the brake lights based on how you set the switch in the cradle 👍
After watching this I was able to fix my intermittent starting problem with my 2020 Frontier. I was brought up when cars had points & condenser ignition. It was not uncommon to use an Emory board to fix the points temporarily. This time I used 400 grit & 1200 grit. I came to the conclusion that the problem may be caused by failing to fully engage the brake pedal before pressing the start button. The small gap may allow the current to arc burning the contacts. I have seen similar damage on car points and on well pump pressure switches.
What i thought was a brake light switch was actually a blown fuse. My nighttime brake lights werent working i found out from a few drivers. I thought jt was the brake light switch until i watched another video saying to check your fuse box. Theres spare fuses in the box itself that come with the car. I just read the diagram switched out the 10AmP fuse and was done. Saved myself a lot of headache. Sending the part back.
I hate doing these kinds of work under the dash. I once had to replace the brake light switch cushion cos the brake lights keep staying on. Very tight and awkward angles.
My moms 2005 Altima’s fix. After trying all “THREE” fuse boxes, changing bulbs (smh, bulbs wasn’t blown) it was the brake light switch that was causing the break lights not to work. (Break light bulb is the same as the tail light bulb, if the tail light works then check your brake light switch. 30 second fix, no tools required to replace.
Hey, thank you for updating this video. I could finally fixed my stop light issue. No more fuse blowing up after I cleaned out all the contact points inside the switch.
Is it necessary to change both switches at the same time i soaced the cruise swith my lifhts work eith out it the passenger works with headlights on only
Aloha! Awesome video. Do you by chance know how to adjust the brake sensitivity of my 2015 Nissan versa SV sedan. I just finished replacing the HVAC blower fan. I removed the gas pedal and brake pedal assembly. Not sure what I did wrong during reassembly. The brakes are very sensitive. Nice kid bringing you cookies. Priceless!!
On the 95 nissan sentra I was working with, the switch was fine, but the rubber stop on the hole of the brake pedal lever deteriorated and went missing, so the switch just went through the hole, causing the switch to remain on constantly. I didn't have a replacement rubber button on hand so I used a metal trim clip to cover the hole instead.
Do you know where I can find that black plastic retainer or connector piece the switch goes into? My car does not have it and I need it for replacement. Thank you for the help!
Nice n easy...very cool bruh. "Gong Hay Phat Choi"! Beautiful Family :) Are you from Oahu Hawaii? Living in Hawaii folks here are so hospitable and friendly.
Disposable parts for disposable cars. On my 1981 Olds Delta 88 the brake switch outlasted the car (which went trough 3 transmissions , but this was a different story)
Ma6be it’s the way you are wired for testing, but it seems that the old switch that was cleaned is now working backwards? The brakes light go out when you depress the brake pedal?
Do you know if the factory dummy plug for the trailer light plug on back of frame under truck will have anything to do with the brake lights not working if the dummy plug is removed on a 2012 Nissan frontier?
Can you make a video for the opposite issue - diagnose why the brake lights won’t turn off (1996 Sentra) that’s what I’m looking for right now - got as far as taking the bottom panel off that exposes the fuses and where the brake light “switch” is supposed to be…but I’d like to see it done by a pro first to demonstrate before I go any further…thanks!
I have the same car, same problem, the little tab that keeps the lights off broke off. I found it in pieces on the floor, but getting the old one out has been the worst. best of luck!
Nissan dealer wants to charge me $700 for the switch and relay harness + $150 for 1 hoir labor. I used to replace my own transmission and do my own brakes. I can do this.
Why are there two switches? I'm trying to fix an issue I have w my taillights only come on when braking and was suggested it might be an issue with this switch
hey i got a 2002 nissan altima 3.5 my brake lights come on when i press the brake pedal but when i let it go it doesn’t stay on when i cut my lights on
Good afternoon brother, had a quick question with hopes you'd be able to help out. My 2010 nissan sentra is not illuminating the driver side brake light when the brake is applied. I Checked the fuse and the bulb and they were both good, do you have an idea to what else may be the cause?
@@senoradeloscielos sort of, it happens often and the problem is that the bulb stops making contact with the harness,, I ran some electrical tape around it and it holds it in place.
