    Comfortable to drive but an absolute nightmare to maintain, power steering leaks turbo failure, dpf problems, premature Flywheel death, brake caliper problems in my 2.0 cdti 131 bhp 2010, just aswell I can carry out some of the work myself, Not bad for a family car but not for taxi driving or any job that is going to put alot of miles on it.

    This fault is an easy fix and if you watch data list you can tell if the light will return by checking long term fuel trim data. Most likely cause is evap valve or some numpty not sitting oil cap correctly.

      I was told that the oil top up by halfords,well they over filled it.i dont know how true that was but months after the same problem came up but worse,i had to get rid.

      Vauxhall/Opel owners.
      Common problem P0171: 20-minute work.
      Take PCV valve off and try to blow air through it from both sides. If you are able to blow the air, pcv valve is broken. Valve has to be shut when not connected to the power (battery).
      Buy only original Bosch part.

    When was this video uploaded? Has the problem come back after changing the inlet manifold? I have the ticking sound coming from the inside of the car. I’ve got an Astra h and it’s got a vacuum leak with the same code.

    • @Gogetyours
      @Gogetyours  4 года назад

      The video was uploaded time ago.
      The problem was fixed but it did come back as the initial problem made a ripple effect causing loads of issues.
      Too many to list. In the end I ended up taking the car back in and they said the usual, There is no problem yet charged twice to do the readings. I ended up selling it and getting a pre-reg but new astra limited edition. Found out through webuyanycar that Vauxhall sold me that insignia after it's been in a smash, indicated by slightly discoloured front panels. It was doomed from the moment I put the keys in the ignition.

      @@Gogetyours i had something similar on a peugeot and it ended up being a loose timing tensioner. The valves also suffer from sticky valves. A timing tensioner and belt bit and a valve stem cleaning and stem lubricant additive sorted the issue.

    Is this a petrol or a diesel?I have a 2011 1.8 petrol.Its never been right since i got it.Changed the pulleys on the end of the camshafts as the VVT doesnt seem to be working right.Took into Vauxhall and they diagnosed one of the sensors on the end of the camshaft.That took the light out but it still rattles like a diesel and has now guts for 138bhp.

    • @Gogetyours
      @Gogetyours  6 лет назад

      Hi Adrian Rose, this insignia was a 1.8 Sri petrol engine. Like in the video,i did everything possible changing things all over chasing the problem.Mine was because of a service,when the daft halfords mechanic overfilled my oil, the openings started sticking,giving that tapping diesel noise.
      you see the large component I had to replace in a video it had oil all around the inner walls,giving me an O2 sensor fault.
      Unfortunately not long ago i had to get rid of my car because the same problem happened again but with out any oil over fill
      Vauxhall was useless,i went to two garages with the precise codes and problems but they wanted parts that i already replaced. I got fed up and had to sell the car. While in this video the problem got solved. It should not come back up within the next one/half years.
      Id take it to an independent garage not a Vauxhall garage, to seek advice but ask to have it in writting if they say they can fix it but then there's no guarantee.
      I now have vauxhall astra limited edition and fingers crossed never had a problem.
      For a £18000 insignia which i loved,its a shame.

    • @caspercat0
      @caspercat0 6 лет назад +1

      It looks like the large component was the inlet manifold.

    • @caspercat0
      @caspercat0 6 лет назад +2

      This will probably be the last Vauxhall i have.Ive had it four years and tbh its never let me down.I would never darken the door of a Vauxhall dealer.They would probably replace hundreds of pounds worth of parts before finally getting to the route of the problem.A friend from the police said they had a nearly new one and it was so much trouble they scrapped it.We also have a 2015 micra,and that purrs away nicely and is a lot more comfortable.Ive even wondered about getting an engine for it ,but they are £1000 with next to no guarantee.I think ill keep it for another couple of years and then get a Skoda!

    • @Gogetyours
      @Gogetyours  6 лет назад

      👍i went on to buy a pre-reg Vauxhall astra limited edition, no kick in the engine department but it came NEW,6 Miles on clock,leather heated seats full sports body kit and large alloy wheels. around £12000 not bad as at the time it was £15000 for a brand new basic astra.✌

    • @BaltimoreSP
      @BaltimoreSP 5 лет назад

      Ive got a petrol with same code - its an 09 Plate and theres no danger im spending a couple of undred quid on a new inlet manifold- IF thats the issue. someone also said the petrol evap valve could be the problem too- car just isnt worth spending any more money on as i could change the manifold and it may not help!! Shame couldnt just get a manifold cleaner that works

    • @Gogetyours
      @Gogetyours  6 лет назад

      Small parts are not that bad obviously this is a big car though and any big parts will indeed be a bit expensive, overall I did have a reoccurring problem with a different part a year later and i ended up getting rid of the car. I opted for a small limited edition Astra instead which is good and had no problems.

      Hello. I got the same problem. Very dissapointed in my mechanic, because I've been 4 times and first, he changed lambda sensor, then check engine light on dashboard disapear for a week, then I noticed again. After he said that maybe its air flow sensor Bosch with laboaur around 115 pounds. I said ok, and he changed air flow sensor, deleted the check engine light and reset system. After 20 min driving - check engine lights again. Do you think, if I will replace evap valve - the problem will be finally sorted? Thinking to change by myself as I've seen on youtube, people saying its easy. Thank you!

    Shame that The main dealer charged you £80 for the first diagnostic MAF sensor then £80 for the second diagnostic Inlet manifold oiled up? plus parts seems to me going by your detailed information on this problem the MAF sensor did not need to be replaced at that moment in time as the problem was oil contamination in the inlet manifold and Vauxhall charged you to replace it ... all it needed was a clean not a new one! next time take it to a decent local garage and get a real diagnostic!

      get a diagnostic from a good garage who will look at the engine running data, it will cost you a lot less than replacing parts that are not needed. DTC'S mean nothing without someone who can read real time engine data as OBD codes can be red herring sometimes "Engine data" is the solution
