I have used crane hiking boots from aldi for around 12 years now. Initially I thought they were worth a try considering the specs which included w proof membrain and only £19 or so versus much higher price elsewhere . They are so comfortable .. I use gel insoles with them and get a new pair of boots every 2 years or so. With the insole each boot weights 503 g. I used to wear them pretty much whenever I went out. 2 years ago I got a pair of crane walking sandles , now I wear them mostly for general everyday use. Asda workwear cushion sole socks £6 for 5 pairs are the only socks I have worn for years now, including hiking. Comfort factor again.

Do you have any experience with the Inov-8 G 270 running shoes (formerly Terraultra, then Trailfly), if so, how does the sizing compare? I love my G 270 shoes 8 months out of the year, but the other 4 months I long for something slightly taller and with waterproofing of some type.

Sorry I don’t. I’ve got the Parclaw Knit for running and day hikes, I use a pair of Sealskinz socks when know I’m going to hit the wet stuff.

Length is the same but toebox is noticeably narrower (the boomerang insole wont fit nicely). As someone between D and E width these justtttt fit in the same size as my 270s

I did 56,km in one day in inov8 sneakers No blisters . . The rubber ages quickly though .
    But who cares

Yes, I think with the lightweight gain you do lose a bit of durability but like you allude to, the trade off is worth it. I’ve had 5 pairs of different boots and shoes now and every one has been great. @inov-8 if you have any more for me to review I’d love to do them.

@@TheOptimisticAdventurer Durability over grip and comfort I'd dive at the comfort of inov8
I had the very first orange and black ones they brought out maybe a decade ago.. I think i had two pairs of them.. even with all the grips worn flat they still stuck to any rock surface.
I'm hoping to do another long distance one in the next few weeks and just picked up a pair of these ..
I also have a pair of meindl respond, similar rubber, great grip and light weight but max distance with them seems to be about 20 odd km then my feet get worn out..
Looking forward to these inov8 , I felt the same as you in this video when i was on the 56, astounding comfort over the entire walk.. just almost lost the will to live commanding my feet to keep going.

@@TheOptimisticAdventurer I think you mention either in this video or another about your feet growing throughout a day.
I said to myself , now there is a man who knows about walking. I have progressed through 9's to full size tens in the past two years just from muscle mass in my feet increasing.

@lifesahobby little story, I was rock hopping around a beach filming the geology. There were loads of photographers there also capturing the moment. One came up to me and asked “we’re all wondering what you have on your feet, we’ve been slipping over all day!” A new Inov8 customer was born that day.

@@TheOptimisticAdventurer they should be paying us and we should be doing a zoom call with funny faces.
      Just saying.
I always shy away from doing reviews. But i may take a leaf out of your book and try the way your did yours.
Happy out with blisters and people falling over sea shells all around.
      Peace
