Wow! Not only did you build an absolutely beautiful teardrop. That video was incredible. Thanks for taking us on your journey.
Thank you :)
I'm sure about that lol unless you want to compete with him on who creates a better Ark lol.your blessed young man that's all I'm saying be wise and well.
That's a good challenge haha!
The most professional DIY project I’ve seen so far.
Thanks so much!! I appreciate that!
I didn’t even watch the trailer build…..I watched all the tools I want and don’t have!!!
Lovely shop dude
Hahaha I do the same thing on other folks videos!! Lol
In my opinion he is a master craftsman. It shows how having the right tools and knowledge can make building a teardrop look simple.
Thanks buddy, it was quite the challenge, plenty of mistakes along the way hehe.
Out of the thousands of dollars of tools you showcased in this video, the Kreg Jig is priceless.
You got that right!
Lmao! Within the entry video, thumb nail, this, that, idk! That is a funny decal, that would scare away the pests! Then again if I need somthing like that on the side of my camper I wouldn't want to camp there! :)
Incredible skill and next-level craftsmanship! Didn't expect this from a personal garage.🙂
Thank you so much, it was a blast to make and I still have it in my garage hehe
Incredible. Beautiful workmanship!

Thank you very much
Very cool!!
Thank you :)
Professional grade. 💯
Appreciate that
Great looking trailer. I can't wait to start on mine. I think I'm going to have to go a little bigger with a 5x10. I'm planning on building an additional bunk inside for my youngest kids.
Yeah that would be rad!! Do it!
@RCW Designs did you end up finding a 5x10 that suited your needs? I too wanna use a bit bigger of a trailer than the commonly used Harbor Freight frame.
@@LukasEragon yeah, actually got one for free. Just need to redo the bearings.
Magnificient!
Thank you!!
Amazing 🤩👏🏻
Thank you :)
Nice job
Thank you
I have pics of myself sitting inside it at the Woodworking Show in Atlanta in 2017. It's a very nice, very well done build, Zach. One to be proud of, for sure.
Oh man those might be worth something some day hehehe. Thanks Mark!
This was a great video, I like the timelapse.
Thanks Mike, it got me fired up again going through the footage... ;)
@@SouthernGinger Don't you tease! Jeremiah may see this comment :P
Haha yeah I'd hate for him to loose his cool 😎
@@SouthernGinger lol 😆
Impresive
Wish it was only that fast in real time. ;-) Have a great day!
Hahah right? I'd would have made a few!! 😂
Awesome 😎!!
Thanks ✌️
That’s nothing short of awesome! I would believe if you said you build them for a living.
Thanks so much jack! Really appreciate that!
Very nice 👍 I like it
Thanks Tom, I appreciate that very much!
Practicle and little. Sweet
Haven t built Jenga yet
Do it!! Haha
Nice video
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Videographer or fabricator? Super on both charges, great piece of craftmanship
Thank you!!!
best moment at 5:42 :D wonderful video!
Hehe thank you so much :)
Wow you have given me so many Inspirations for my future teardrop build! My biggest thing is I want to learn the aluminum skinning good because that is what makes it pop and look like one you bought off a dealer! You had way more info than many people do! So you obviously really look like you know what you're doing, can I ask why a Kreg Jig? And why use glue(nails or gorrilla?) and Nails (brad?) instead of screws everywhere?
Oh good happy to inspire you to try something new and different. Pocket holes are your friend in cabinetry style work. It's very hard to line everything up from the outside and screw from there so I used pocket holes from the inside if that makes sense. As far as glue and brads, depending on what I was trying to do or hide I would use either one. No glue was used on the cabinetry work but I did use glue to hold down the wood ceiling and roof because I wanted as much support as possible. Also used brads there so they would not be noticeable when you're sleeping and staring at the ceiling haha. Cheers and good luck!
Just wow 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you Grace :)
Brother where to start? First, how did I miss this - awesomeness! Second: The tactical tool vest: must have (along with my fac tape measure on the front because I write everything down on it), third: the orange highlights inside the wheels are a great touch. 4th: you know when you open the new phone box and it is so built to spec the phone has trouble coming out until the air pressure equalizes? Yeah, that's your Colman stove storage! Really outstanding...but I am a LITTLE disappointed you didn't CNC some special highlights into the cabinetry or the like. But that's a quibble: awesome build, awesome editing and video production. This was Really Cool!!!
Hehe love the comments! Thank you! Check out my site for atlas46 links to that vest. I didn't have my bigger CNC when I built this. The only CNC thing I did was the door knobs because they needed to be perfect! :)
Great !!!!!
Thank you
Молодец, хорошо сделал.
Thank you
amazing
Thank you!
WoooW Suuuuuuuuper Greeting 😃👍
Heh thank you!!
This is such a great build!!! Agree with everyone, this guy is legit. I wish he would post up plans for this!!!
It's on my long list of things to do haha! One day :) one day :)
@@SouthernGinger I get it buddy, the time struggle is real. But for real, thanks for responding, this is an amazing build sir. We are in the research phase, we have a 29ft TT but its a pain for quick trips. Cheers PWU
Oh I bet that's a sweet TT too? Full hookups?
@@SouthernGinger Yessir, its a Jayco WhiteHawk 29BH. (10K lbs+) Great for longer trips but terrible for overland or quick mtb trips.
Oh yeah! Where do you MB?
Like from Brazil - Mogi das Cruzes city - São Paulo state.
Wow hola!
Nice build, I would like to know a material list and where you got the black exterior from. Also any plans you used.
Sorry no plans, built it from stratch, the sides came from metal supermarkets
Hi. This is such a fantastic and wonderful trailer. You have a really great skill. I have a question, what is the official name of the steel plate that covers the trailer roof, and where can I buy it?
Thank you! I got mine at metal supermarkets. It's aluminum
Sweet
Greetings from Marietta. Excellent job. Would like to apply some of your techniques to a slide in for my truck. Where do you take it camping?
We go all over! Mostly in the GA though, we enjoy Red top, unicoi, tallulah gorge, places like that :)
Absolutely educative video thanks
Where are you based please
Georgia, usa
Saw you over on Jeep Solid's live stream! Excited to see you working on a YJ soon!
Hey thanks! Yeah I've been messing with it behind the scenes but about to upgrade the suspension and shackles. Nothing crazy, it's a RV tow behind vehicle for the most part.
@@SouthernGinger Sounds awesome! Looking forward to it!
Are you local in the ATL area too?
@@SouthernGinger In Columbia, SC so not too far away.
Ah word, yeah I've been out that way camping at Andrew Jackson state park
nice love it
Thank you!!
wow. so pro. Mind sharing your BOM? and where you got your stuff? I'm starting my very similar project. thanks.
Thanks so much, one day I might get off my lazy butt and make plans haha
👏 bravo !!!!
Thank you :)
Beautiful work man!!
What are the brand/style of the hinges on you cabinet doors? Where can I get some?!
I'm trying to complete my hidden gun cabinet, done with pallet wood... and I dont want them showing. Need a flush look...
Thanks!! Great job!!
Thanks so much, I have those on my website, www.southerngingerworkshop.com/teardrop-parts
amzn.to/3mE2DaM
Did you ever figure out a total cost of your build? I see you used premium materials, so I'm expecting it to have cost a tidy sum. Great craftsmanship BTW. I watch each and every episode.
I think I was all in around 4k in materials but lots of man hours haha. Thank you :)
@@SouthernGinger That's actually quite good, I would have guessed somewhere closer to 6K. Excellent job!
Great work🤗😁👍. Is it waterproof on angles?
Except horizontal haha
Very very cool. I redid an old German camper and I definitely know about having blood sweat and tears into something. This is really beautiful. Can I just ask about the black paint? Why black? Does it get hot in there as a result? How's the humidity in the trailer when parked at home? I'm genuinely interested because I'm tired of the boring traditional camper colors. Beige, white, grey, burgundy,... Boooooring colors.
I chose black to match my car, I suppose it could get hotter but I really haven't noticed to be honest. At home it's parked in my garage haha
And you don't have all those tools and incredible skill... You settle for store bought. Wow. Nice!
Not sure what you mean? Some things have to be store bought hehe. What would you have done differently?
@@SouthernGinger - I was a little obscure with my reply. Sorry. I meant great job, way better than anything that can be bought. I am super impressed.
Heheh no worries it was like 1am lol
Nice build man! You are the one that started me down the teardrop rabbit hole😁👍It always starts with one😂 Here I an almost 12 teardrops later and still building. Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow that's amazing! Any pro tips you learned along the way?
@@SouthernGinger I'm far from a pro as I still learn something new with every build. Pro tip? I would say probably try to think a couple steps ahead when possible and to ask for help on areas that you struggle with. Always remember just to take each step of the build on one at a time. It makes the build as a whole alot easier and less intimidating. Just my $0.02. Thanks for all you do sir. I hope to meet you in my travels one day
Those are some great tips! And you're right I didn't truly know how to build the whole thing, just took it one step at a time, did some research and planned it out :)
@@SouthernGinger without your videos I may have never built one. I'm not sure if your aware but there is a DIY teardrop gathering going on in Arkansas next month. Maybe join us? If not, I always plan 2 gatherings a year. Hope you can attend one someday. Thanks again! Build on! I will be watching!
Oh that would be cool! Send me the info and keep me posted on future gatherings :)
This is sick! Would you mind telling me what wood you used for the roof to get that bend?
It's called radius ply from Colombia forest products.. I got it from them directly but who knows where you can get it now in this current climate lol
@@SouthernGinger Thank you! I bought a pop-up camper that ultimately needs a new roof and I didn't know what wood to use to get the bend like that.
Yeah worse case you can use some 1/8 ply and some rachet straps to hold it down as you glue and nail it
I'd like to ask where you get the aluminum for the siding and roofing? Great video and build!
Metal supermarkets, the sides are .040 and the top and back are .032 aluminum
@@SouthernGinger thank you. I'm trying to find a local supplier. I would like to build my own trailer soon.
@@SouthernGinger, what grade did you use if you don't mind sharing?
@@Mudinyeri I'm not sure exactly what grade to be honest
Very nice build! Just a question, why didn't you glass or epoxy that whole outer plywood body first before metal panelling it? Leaks are almost certain over age between moving panels and corner strips.
Nice catch, I used penetrating epoxy on all the edges of the outer plywood and below the door seal.. if you look closely you will see a color difference in the wood.. but yes I totally recommend that too!
Right around 3:45 you will see it pretty clear..
@@SouthernGinger gotcha, thanks for the reply! Enjoy the camper, look forward to hearing how it works out.
@@ralphvanthoff Thank you!
That is amazing work you did! Looks way better than a commercially made How much would you say it cost to make yourself?
All in probably around $3500-3800 but lots and lots of blood sweat and tears for sure hehe
@@SouthernGinger I wish I had your skills! Awesome trailer
If I can do it, so can you :)
Your music is so awesome I hate it! Lol awesome video buddy!
The challenge was to find something long enough to show all the footage I wanted to show haha 😂
Buddy you rock! How hard is it to get a license plate for it? What did you do? And finally how much to build me one? Hahaha great work!
I just used a harbor freight trailer and got that licensed before I got started :) I could build you one but I don't think it would be cost effective hehe :)
