    What a perfect venue for this piece. Vincent really gets what this piece is all about, i.e., transcendental/mystical - note his expressions; he was carried away into another world. Franck reached to heaven when he composed this . It should be played more often.

    Bravo! I wish I could have been there. Vincent plays with fluent grace, ease and authority. This is a gorgeous organ; I close my eyes and hear sounds reminiscent of the great Jeanne Demessieux playing Franck on the Cavaille-Coll at the Madeleine in Paris. Thanks for a wonderful set of postings.

    Splendida esecuzione, finalmente un organista che suona con slancio l'incipit di questo brano purtroppo penalizzato da letture troppo misurate. Mi ricorda l'insuperabile esecuzione di Jeanne Demessieux!!!!

      And Sonata-Allegro form, too, complete with surprise modulations at: (1) the recapitulation with D7/C unusually resolving to Bb Major at 7:12 - 7:17 and (2) the return of the second theme stated first in the key of Bb Major and then secondly in the temporary key of D Major starting at 7:45.

    The most impressive version of this I've found on RUclips. I'm not a big Franck fan because I usually find his music ponderous mostly because it lacks light and dark contrasts. However, this interpretation of this finale gives this piece such a radiant lightness that its expansiveness makes up for the lack of mood changes.

    • @annakimborahpa
      @annakimborahpa 6 лет назад +1

      It would appear Franck utilized modulations as his way of expressing different moods. He perceived the contrast between 'light' and 'dark' as residing in the color of particular keys. When he wanted to go 'light' he would often repeat a theme by modulating to a sharper key and restating it, which he does several times here in the Final.

    • @Eleuthero5
      @Eleuthero5 4 года назад

      @@johanbrand8601 Apparently you can't read because it says that "this finale gives this piece such a radiant lightness". Does that sound like an insult to you or a criticism? Also, I guess you can't figure out another simple fact i.e., that even if a person generally doesn't like a composer there are individual pieces that they do like. For example, I'm not a Tchaikovsky fan but I do love the Little Russian Symphony. Idiot???? Look in the mirror.

    esecuzione molto virtuosistica e brillante, .. forse anche troppo per la musica di Franck, che notoriamente non era un virtuoso dello strumento, e che molti interpreti eseguono in maniera più compassata. E' davvero questione di gusti e di interpretazione. Comunque è innegabile che Dubois sia un talento straordinario, suona con una facilità ed una sicurezza disarmante, tutto scorre come bere un bicchier d'acqua. Mi ricorda molto Olivier Latry, altro talento smisurato che fa sembrare ogni esecuzione, rigorosamente a memoria, come una sciocchezza. Non per niente adesso i due sono co-titolari a Notre Dame ( anche se la registrazione di Dubois è di molti anni fa). Si tratta di due organisti al top assoluto dell'organistica mondiale.
    Esecuzione comunque straordinaria, non ci sono dubbi, .. non c'è altro da fare che ammirare.

    Karl Richter organista non mi risulta abbia mai suonato musica di Frank; tuttavia l'esecuzione di Dubois è troppo veloce ( quando deve sottolineare la musicalità del brano deve rallentare),non si può gustare l'ascolto .Grande bravura esecutiva ma non tutto è toccata di Prokofiev.
