  • An analysis of the food delivery business model and why it has come under scrutiny.
Food delivery apps like DoorDash and UberEats have completely revolutionized how people order food. Because of this, these companies bring in billions in revenue. However, despite all of this, some argue that this business model is not sustainable because it hurts everybody involved in the transaction: the restaurant, the delivery workers, the customers and even the companies themselves.

I feel conflicted about gig food delivery. It's exploitative and pays poorly, but the flexibility is exactly what some people need. It's a critical lifeline for many of my disabled friends, but the high price adds to their burdens. As you said, nobody is winning.

In India, we've Zomato as a food delivery service provider but is actually profitable since last year, maybe you should do a deep dive and make a video out of it.

Zomato is not profitable since last year, they just made a profitable quarter

You should check the company's statement, they have been posting profits since last 4 quaters which is 1 years FYI@@pankajsaraswat7998

And a profitable quarter means more profitable quarters are required. Which means they will squeeze the delivery guys whenever they have to make their books look good. This business model is flawed.

in india and china, the densely populated metropolitan and cheap labor might make delivery business viable. but i think its nothing to boast about. Have you ever seeing delivery man sitting on motorbikes swiping on phones expressionless outside restaurants? Its sad.

Their logistics and orders not being picked up are the two biggest issues. They also spend too much on advertising. There is no minimum order amount, and no borders on zones.

No it just depends on how much you value your time.if you place a low value on your time, then yeah it seems like a waste of money. If you're a busy person and thus place a high value on your time, then it's great
